Upgraded to 18.1. 10/10 touch responsiveness (like on 18.0.1). No difference. Belkin screen protector.

Do you simply text and see if some letters miss the tap? The problem you were experiencing before the Apple repair was that letters were often missing, or was it something else?

Just regular typing (quickly, not using swipe). When I had issues words were often misspelled and using backspace to delete was very laggy. It takes less than a second to feel if it is laggy or not.

The keyboard or whatever it is, it's causing my words to be misspelled and making its own suggestion of words. This damn thing is haunted. I am hating this iPhone 16 PM. I know I have been forewarned about Beta and all the bad stuff that can happen, but I have been doing Beta's since the Pilgrims came over on the Mayflower, and I never had an issue until now.

How is it on the final version? The build is updated on the public release of 18.1 from the RC

I can’t decide if mine is good or not. I feel like the keyboard has a bit of lag but otherwise feels pretty good compared to the previous build of 18.1 and other versions of iOS 18. I’m still making a fair amount of typos but those are due to incorrect key presses, rather than missed keystrokes. It may just be my inpatient fast typing. I’ve had my 16 PM for a week and a half. Been going back and forth on whether I’m going to exchange it.

Did you come from an iPhone before 16PM? If yes, does it feel odd comparing to that phone? If yes, exchange. My current 16PM is faster and more responsive than any other phone I ever tried. The launch day 16PM felt like an Android or a very old iPhone. Very laggy and not normal.

The past few days it definitely felt worse than my 13 Pro Max. However, it seems better with this update. The keyboard/autocorrect still lag though

Whoa! I installed the 18.1 RC last week, but didn’t realize until a few minutes ago that there was a new, additional 18.1 release to install, 359Mb for the 16 Pro.

FWIW, the new 18.1 release (the one that came out today) fixed my touch screen issues on the 16 Pro!

The 18.1 RC version from last week hadn’t fixed it, but this new version seems fantastic — no issues at all whatsoever anymore. Will report back tomorrow if any issues spring up, but so far, so good! 🤞

in the incoming iOs 18.1 do not mention anything about the touch in the changelog.

The screen protector makes a huge difference. You have to tap much more firmly compared to a bare screen.

In general, missed taps are, in my opinion, a software issue that gets amplified when combined with the screen protector.
Unless you’re using a duvet for a screen protector there’s no need for any extra pressure for the phone to register your input.
I’ve used protectors from thin to tempered glass and more often experienced touch inputs being extra sensitive than otherwise. Any decent protector wouldn’t affect the inputs.

So there is no missed touch on the keyboard?

I spoke to Apple Support about the issue that sometimes my touch does not register and I have to repeat the touch 2 times (not often but sometimes) and they told me that it is not a problem Hardware
