Can’t you run diagnostics on your own phone and go through the touch panel test to see if there’s dead spots? Else should be software quirks to be worked out. No?

hello.
first sorry for my english, i am talking with translate app. i am having 16 pro max september build. i realized something wrong with this phone after 1 day of use. the screen sometimes skips the presses, making it difficult to use and type. and i noticed the screen wake up speed as well as the screen off speed is also much slower than the 15 pro max. i almost went crazy. i searched online and found you guys discussing here. i decided to send to apple support and they emailed back asking have you upgraded to 18.1? i replied i have but the problem is still there. and since then they have not responded anymore.
so just now i decided to go to an apple authorized service center. the guy there tested by sharing iphone analysis and swiping 3 fingers on the screen exactly like the the picture i attached below. then he plugged the phone into a stand with a USB C port, one end plugged into my phone and I noticed that the other end of the cable was not plugged into anything, as if it was just to prop the phone up so I couldn't see what he was doing. he left it there, and turned to help update the software for another customer. i left there for about 3 minutes then he called me back and said that there was nothing wrong with the phone and that it might be the screen protector, then asked if i needed any more help. i left disappointed, the return period was almost up and apple didn't acknowledge the error, the second time extremely disappointed with apple, first with the 2017 iPhoneX model, and now.
the quality is unacceptable for the money spent. i also went around to check it out a while ago and all the iphone 16 pro max models they displayed did not respond to touch on the outer half of the keys near the edge of the screen.

Is that what’s app? If yes then I have a massive problem with the mic button on the bottom right, not so much on the top left and same goes with few more people that I read about on Reddit.

Yes it’s what’up app and often when you press icone of microphone, don’t answer the touch,if you muove little bit on left side your finger, you can see the different.
happens also one up left side

Wouldn’t you be better off testing touch panel in the diagnostics app specifically to rule out firmware specific issues?

Hopefully the hardware level diagnostics would be more accurate and isolating

I don’t use the microphone button so don’t know. But yes to the back button in WhatsApp. Hit or miss.
However generally I don’t believe I have the touch issues using keyboard that everyone is talking about.

So, when you use the back button, happens that loss touch?
Thank u

Yes. In WhatsApp I notice it . It’s been like this a while and I think also a little when I had the 14PM but not as much.

Just tried it in the App Store and it works fine. I randomly searched for any app and went into one then pressed this button to back out no issues . Did it about ten times.

Considering the current issues that still haven’t been fixed, plus the camera’s blue tint problem, and the fact that Apple Intelligence feels like it’s in beta, there’s really no reason to go for the iPhone 16 right now. I’d recommend you return it ASAP—don’t hesitate. Either go for the iPhone 15 Pro/Max or wait for the 17. Honestly, I’m also at the point where I’m ready for an upgrade, but the 16 has way too many issues. I’ve been watching for any significant software improvements, and so far, nothing impressive. My take? The 16 feels like a prototype they just threw out there to sell. So, returning it is the smart move—stay away from the 16.

This is how I'm thinking. I need an ios fix but don't think I'm prepared to spend good money on a 16 PM the way things are currently.

With regards to it being software, does everybody affected have the exact same issues? Or is their a spectrum of things?

The whole 16 pro series both hardware and software has been a beta experience 🤣

I think a wiser approach would be to send some mail to macrumors and sites like 9to5mac and ask them to write about those problems. So far everything shows that Apple knows about the problems but is trying to hide/limit the impact. Like they just released their earnings for this year and they are happy, they really don't care and don't want to provide any support unless it will get very loud about those problems. For them it is much better to keep silent, sell all the products they want and eventually repair some for people who really want high quality. By accepting the problem they would have to exchange all the devices produces in faulty batches and that would mean huge losses and would be similar to Galaxy Notes explosive batteries
True. It was reported by 9to5mac shortly after launch. Below are two threads (of several) with people that are still experiencing issues. I found these with a google search of "iphone 16 touch"

(my haptic was already on fast)

But then people say the iPhone 15 Pro/Max has battery and overheating issues and advise instead getting the iPhone 16 Pro/Max.

Out of interest, does the base 16 model have similar issues to the 16 Pro/Max being discussed in this thread?

I think it's a hardware problem, because it's been a month and a half and even on the latest firmware, there are no changes. Starting with the 3Gs I've been a regular Apple user, but now I'll be selling my iPhone...

P. S. The most frustrating thing is that Apple won't acknowledge this problem in any way.

I have tested it out using the above method and also at Apple service centre. There is no problem with the touchscreen or the device as such.
