16PM launch unit still having touch issues. I setup this phone as new and loaded the apps individually (not from any backup). I have talked to apple support twice, once a few days after setting up and again two days ago reporting touch problems. Again they performed a remote diagnostic that show the phone is perfect... Apple support asked me to start from scratch and perform a factory restore - they sent me the link below. Gonna go back to my 15PM if I can't get this solved. Absolutely the worst Apple experience / purchase EVER for me...

As well for me

This is either a software issue or a serious defect with these phones. I’m leaning towards software as 18.1 improved it but didn’t 100% fix it. And my new phone still seems to not be as responsive as older iPhones. I’m holding out hope that 18.2 improves things

I don’t think it’s software, since non everybody is experiencing it. My iPhone 16 PM is flawless

So letting the phone go completely dead and totally drain the battery twice could possibly fix the screen sensitivity issue??? Did Apple support really advise this could be the fix ??? Let me know if that fixes it. That would be pretty crazy if that splits the atom....
I found the suggestion stupid but i am doing it, nothing to lose. Let it go to 0%, charged to 100% and now at 32%… lets see, I expect nothing.

My money goes to software issue + different layer/material this screen uses, feels glossier to the touch

I was having issues with the keyboard being slow and exhibiting lag and the following settings look to have improved things for me.

You can try going to Accessibility > Keyboards & Typing > Key Repeat and adjusting the settings to the following.

I’m running 18.2 beta 2 and it’s still not fixed. Just a FYI, I’ve owned iPhones since 4S and I’ve never had a problem like this before. The way I touch/type the screen has remained consistent all these years so it’s very apparent when it feels different. I’m having to swipe multiple times to scroll and to press “x” or the back button multiple times on apps/websites. Not to mention the frequent typos due to keys not registering on the first press.

Just to get a comparison, I just set my iPhone 15 Pro Max up again and yup, it is night and day difference. It almost feels like every input is just a little slower on the 16 pro max, whether I’m typing (results in typos) or swiping (requires a second or third swipe).

What’s crazy is that it is so inconsistent. There are definitely moments where things are snappy but it’s only a matter of time until it happens again.

I should mention that I’ve been providing beta feedback to Apple regarding this issue and looking at the report I made on the Feedback App, it shows that there are “more than 10” similar reports. So Apple definitely is aware of this issue.

I have given 4 feedbacks till date on the website. Can you guide me on how to check for the “Similar Report” ?

Test your screen, try to touch your 16 pro max screen very lightly, very very lightly, if you iphone is ok, 8 of 10 touch you do will be register, if not… well, you could have the sensibility issue too.
I tried: 9 out of 10 VERY light touches (unrealistic scenario, since they were very very light) registered normally 🤷🏻‍♂️
No screen protector so far.

I don’t think with 18.2, because for Apple with iOS 18.0.1 had solved this problem

This is possible only of you have no screen protector installed.

btw, I also read people having the PROs scratched super easily in a matter of days.

I never used a screen saver, and after years I had at worst 2-3 light scratches not affecting screen visibility.

I am afraid to use it without a screen protector. Did any of you suffer from scratches already? Do you use screen protector? Yes, a bit offtopic but you are 16 PRO owners like me., so forgive me asking.

My 16 pro max without screen protector improves the touch responsive, but I can recreate the issue touching very lighty If I want...

Without screen protector there are 0 typo error while I am writting, that is true, perhaps a quick solution would be to use a less thick screen protector, and wait to a software fix.

Use a screen protector. In my experience, the glass is particularly prone to light scratches. On the other hand, a screen protector reduces touch sensitivity.

I believe that the fix didn’t will never arrive!
I’m disappointed

I just tried these settings. Makes a big difference with keys working properly. I was having to hit keys several times for them to work. Now it's a breeze. Thanks for sharing. Mine was set on 10 and 40. Changed to 3 and 20.
