Which button is this, there’s only one back button right?
yeah just try to quickly select a chat (to enter it) and right after go back with this arrow (back button on top left when you are inside a chat). You should notice that if you do it fast (before animation ends) it will not register your tap.

and like if you say your iPhone works perfectly, do you happen to miss any touches? Like I have an october build and it works great but here and there mainly in that top leftt corner but with other small buttons I sometimes strugle to hit it and don’t know if it is a phone or my big finger 🤦

thanks for help

The back button in messages also fails on ipad and older iphones

Ios 18.1 blocks touch while animations running, it is a SOFTWARE issue

I know, I've read what you said earlier, but if someone states he/she has no problems at all, I want to check if he is any way liable. Outised of those animation problems, I have some misstaps here and there, and they are probably not connected to animation problem. Can be my touch screen, can be my fingers. I'm trying to decide if I should go back to android or stay with my 16 pm

I think there are still touch sensitivity issues in ios 18.1. Check this video:

The back button animation problem exists on older models with ios 17.x as well, so that is a “feature”.

That video just shows a bug in iOS 18. Not related to touch sensitivity.

I agree, thats a bug, but I feel the same whenever I lost the interaction with the screen while I’m scrolling or swiping. Ios 18 is quite laggy and unresponsive, but I have nearly the same feeling when I use my old, 12 PM on the same ios 18.1 version.

So, after going through both 18.1 and 18.2 beta, this touch issue still hasn’t been fixed? What I’m curious about is, why is it that some people don’t seem to have any problems? I’ve read through all the discussions, and honestly, I can’t be sure what the actual issue is. If it’s a software problem, it’s pretty ridiculous that it’s still around in the 18.2 beta. But if it’s a hardware issue, I’ve seen reports from newer batches that still have the same issue. Right now, the only conclusion I can draw from this whole discussion is that the problem persists, even with updates.

This happens also my iPad Pro m1
I don’t know if you can use it for exemple

There is something off with the iOS for sure. Example from today. I've found on the internet that I can change camera AF with new 18.2 whatever, so i went to settings -> camera-> camera control but the touch did not register meaning I had to click the "camera control" menu for the second time to enter it BUT the menu button gets a bit darker when you hit it and I'm sure it got darker when I hit it for the first time, just I did not enter the menu for whatever reason. So if the animation of the button started, the touch had to be registered beforehand just something stopped iOS from entering the menu.

Try to go back a bit faster from the camera controll submenu to the settings main page. Your second tap wont be registered at first time. It happens every time on ios18 whenever you are deeper in the settings. Older phones with ios 17.x work properly. As somebody mentioned earlier, it seems some of the animations are blocking the touch response.

Yeh I understand the animation problem. But I wanted to point out the problem is even more complex bc sometimes the touch is registered and the button changes the color to dark, but the ios is not entering the menu. So it looks like the touch problem, but it is something on iOS level preventing the system from accepting the touch, like iOS sees the touch, understands you want to go into a menu, makes the menu button go darker to show you that you just hit it, but nothing happens after that so you have to tap it again (but it is not that often).

Anyways I will stay on iOS bc like I love the way it syncs with my macbook but coming from an android phone and not even the latest one (samsung s20+ 4 year old phone) I must say google did incredible job with android regarding all the animations and touch. I rememeber it was focused heavily by them 6 yeas ago or so and I can see the results just by switching to a newest and best Apple has to offer meaning 16 PM, just to see that I have to slow down my fingers so that I'm not faster than the animation is which is crazy actually (and I'm faster like all the time). Probably there is some reasoning behind not overriding the animation, just the animations on iOS are much slower than on android and they have that smooth ending into them so they are animating for a while even when they look like being done. And I think with devices like 15/16 etc with crazy fast cpus, they should consider letting users chose the animation speed like for example make it 1/3 faster bc from my perspective my fingers are just a small tad faster but it is enough to destroy the whole smooth iOS experience

And I jsut ordered the new flowlab screen protector so will see hwo it will work with it :D

I tried several times… it always register the tap.
I will explain “always”: out of 20 tries, it missed 2.
It doesn’t qualify as a defect to me. Software glitch ?

At this point I don't know if my phone has the issue or not. Too many variables and it's not consistent nor does it happen often

I think animations blocking taps is something Apple can easily fix in update (not saying they will).
What worries me is that I can’t find glass protector that will not cause significant drop of touch responsiveness. Never had such issue before.

Yes this is my third, next time I will proof a idrogel protection

Same, I tried Spigen, Belkin, some no-name brand and all caused issues. I think I’ll eventually try to claim warranty and get replacement unit or refund.
What is your built?
I have care plus and at Genius Bar, they said me to use it without protection
