iPhone 16 Pro Max Touch issues with 16 Pro / Pro Max display

Ok so my replacement 16 Pro max that I got a little over a week ago seems to have the random touchscreen lag and isn’t as responsive with the Belkin screen protector (installed by Apple Store). Should I try and exchange it again? I have to lock it and unlock it to clear up the lag when it comes up. Seems to be getting more frequent. I set it up as new when I got it.
The problem not is if you do set up as new, I belive that the problem is hardware.
So it will be if you change the screen by part of replacement! Because for this week they don’t change the iPhone if you are out of 15days,
I got a screen replacement but the touch sensitivity issue with a (Belkin) screen protector remains

My first time about 20days ago, I have another phone with built august, first was July as day one.

Yeah. Surely they're using some kind of new screen technology this year that doesn't work well with screen protectors
So, I had proof my dad’s phone a 16 pro max built September, for me is more reactive! I belive that he doesn’t have problem.
But he is not so careful, then me!
Looks like my case is different from your guys. Without screen protector everything works fine. But no way I’ll use it without protection.

I saw that happening with WhatsApp. Seems to be just a software glitch, because with the keyboard opened is working just fine. And I saw that happening also on iPhone 14 PM and iPhone 13.

my pro max 16 have always a lose touch, it happens some time, often with wapp, Instagram in the corner or to the end of keyboard.
if i do a dfu mode and reinstall all, it will be a better solution?

Current issue I’ve noticed is in WhatsApp, if I use my left thumb to hold the microphone button to record audio message it rarely engages fully. But in Telegram app it seems to work all the time, different app sure, but microphone button is around the same location on the screen in portrait mode.

No one knows for sure but my guess (with 99% probability) is that a DFU restore will make zero difference.
The problem is most likely caused by palm rejection algorithms that are very aggressive in the very edge of the screen. This is to prevent that these buttons are pressed when you are just holding your phone and your palm touches the edge of the screen.
Unfortunately the methods to determine what is a real touch and an accidental palm touch is not very good. The phone tries to guess if your intention was to touch the button or if it was an accident. Sometimes this guess is wrong and the touch is dismissed as a palm touch.
If they didn't apply the palm rejection algorithm, touch would work 100% of the time, but you would also get very annoying accidental touches. This is just as bad as touch not registering.
App developers will have to adjust their GUI to not put buttons in the very edge of the screen. This also applies to Apple themselves. Example of a button that is very hard to press is when you download an image in Safari, then click the "Downloads" button next to the URL bar, then open the image you downloaded and try pressing the share button in the lower left corner. It is very hard.
We just have to wait for Apple to fine tune the palm rejection algorithm and for app developers to adjust their GUIs to not place buttons in the very edge.
It should help, if there was install based issue but if you are hoping for a permanent solution for the touch screen issue then you need to wait for a software fix if and when Apple comes out.
Personally you should wait for 18.2 as it is said to be a much stable build compared to 18.1 and because you want to go for dfu mode it is better you do it once as it is quite a time taking process unless you are prepared to do it again.
Thank you for your description of the problem, is very useful. I’m facing this exact issue, I have little hands so I use to put fingers on a side of the screen and making actions with the right hand, it happens that it doesn’t recognize the touch, like there’s a freeze of the display. I hope they will fix the issue soon, I prefer not to send the iPhone to the assistance and have a replacement because I like the display of my iPhone 16 pro max except for this issue, not so satisfied for the battery too..
