Was just prompted to "update" to iOS 18.0 on my IP16PM, anyone else get prompted for an OTA update? The changes noted bug fixes.

Can Macrumors make an article about this issue? It is so annoying. I returned my ESR screen protector thinking it was the culprit. I never had this issue with my iPhone 15 Pro Max that I just sold

On my friends iPhone 16PM I think I could emulate this issue. Going into the AppStore I randomly selected random apps to download but then pressing the circled “X” bit result in the key press not being acknowledged once or twice. Went down the screen and tried more apps same result. But later tried again and it worked 100% of time. So an intermittent issue on this example I have presented.

Thank god I'm not the only one! I'm having major issues with typing. Many keystrokes seem to be ignored. The typing experience is just horrendous! I initially blamed my spigen screen protector since I put it on immediately after unboxing but many people online say the problem is there with or without the screen protector. Another let down by Apple. Now I have a dysfuncgtional iPhone and a bricked M4 iPad pro. Tim Apple, I'm pissed.

I don't think any issue with Apple should be a "gate" now. Problems, defects, and failures are routine and expected from today's Apple.

I always wondered why this word is used. Did water gate had anything to do with water?

Same build every iPhone got on Sept. 16th. Maybe they had to put an earlier one on it that it could be shipped in time.

It's my first time on an iPhone & I'm really not happy with this, how soon do Apple fix issues like this ?

I'm debating returning it at the moment

If it is a software issue that affects hardware, as in this case, it could be days, weeks, or months.

If it is a software issue that does not affect hardware, such as app crashing, syncing issues, interface oddities, it could take as long as a decade. Some issues might never be fixed.

I know of one software issue that was discussed a fair bit on forums, and repeatedly reported to Apple. It was fixed after 12 years. I suspect it was probably not fixed on purpose, but it was a byproduct of Apple working on something else that affected it.

As you would expect, the amount of public attention and shaming also have a lot to do with it.

Also, at least a few times, when Apple rolled out an update to fix one thing, several seemingly unrelated things would break.

This is not hard data, but it is based on my experience and observation on numerous issues over the past 17+ years as an Apple user.

I got my 16PM today and I notice it here and there. I already submitted feedback to Apple (running general release iOS 18 with the update for 16 series). Hope they fix it soon.

If others are having issues with screen protectors, I’m not going to put one on yet.

Looks like there is a article out now!

But I feel like we have two separate screen issues here. One where the palm rejection is affecting touch sensitivity and the other issue is when a screen protector on the phone is affecting touch sensitivity. Can anyone test their phone without holding it and lightly tap an icon to see if it responds? I can tap several icons consecutively without it responding. I have a 14PM and a 13PM with screen protectors that work as they should.
