But I feel like we have two separate screen issues here. One where the palm rejection is affecting touch sensitivity and the other issue is when a screen protector on the phone is affecting touch sensitivity. Can anyone test their phone without holding it and lightly tap an icon to see if it responds? I can tap several icons consecutively without it responding. I have a 14PM and a 13PM with screen protectors that work as they should.
16 Pro with a Spigen screen protector here - I set it on my desk and tapped every icon on the screen as lightly as I could, every one of them responded immediately.

Am also suffering this touchscreen problem, 16PM 256GB Black. My experience is as follows:

Initially got the phone out and put straight into silicone case. Was actually going to just use the case and no screen protector because my last iPhone screen held up flawlessly without a screen protector. Note at this point I was not even aware of the issues.

Fast forward next day I decided I love this phone and I'm going to get a screen protector. Boom. Something started not feeling right. It was as if the phone was slowed down/became glitchy. I would be tapping normally/scrolling and things would not register so much as I'd have to do it three or four times sometimes. Typing IS THE WORST. I normally type fast on iPhone keyboards and now either the words are all spelling wrong or letters/spaces being missed. It is extremely annoying and got to the point where I assumed it was the screen protectors fault or something was wrong with my iPhone.

I tried to replicate the reddit issue and could maybe 1/3 tries. My theory is that there is some kind of issue whereby by when using a screen protector it 'raises' the screen to be inline with the case hence causing the palm rejection issues. Hoping for the best it is software and will be fixed. I will monitor until the 14 day return window expires. Obviously the main issue is that I have already sent my old iPhone back for trade in! While it's not the END of the world, i.e. I can type slightly slower and it will work, I may have to resort to removing the screen protector. I also thought that it was possible that because of a change in screen/bezel possibly even screen thinness(?) that the screen protectors weren't interacting well with the screens.

Note something which I think is really important. The issue only happens when my right hand is on the right side of the phone (I am right handed). If I hold my iPhone in my left hand so my hand only touches the left side of the phone, I can tap and type for England smoothly with no issue. I believe the issue must be pertaining to palm rejection on the right hand side of the phone specifically.

Another thought is that, if you look carefully, the screen protectors do not fully go to the complete edge of the screen and maybe the software thinks that the screen protector is like a hand on the edge of the screen and glitches out using the phone?

16 Pro Max here, no issues whatsoever.

I also saw the video on the previous forum page with the demonstration. If I press with one finger it sometimes prevents the scrolling, but not even that happens always - I actually have to use my thumb and cover a larger area to actually prevent scrolling/reactions.

I think it's an accidental touch protection feature.

But if I then let go, the scrolling is immediately responsive. Does not get stuck for me as in the video.

I wonder if there are different brands of touch sensors used or why it affects others and not others? 🤔

Guys , you are all getting this wrong.
If I want a screen protector I will put it on , and phone will work , because I did not payed 2000€ for it to hate anything , cases , screen protectors.
Who cares , if i want him in screen protector he must work.
I mean , are you all insane.
Stop pulling of screen protectors,
Once upona a time on galaxy s3 , you still have that option on samsung , he could work with a gloves on.
Imagine , its winter , you have a gkoves , and you dont need to put them of , it simply works.
For this type of money , and its a big money from all of us , it must work anyhow.
So . Good that some of you listen to me , we are all over internet.
Let me see the move Tim Cook will make now , if its a faulty unit , he must prepare them worl wide.
If its a software uodate , he has to burey now

Thing that worry me the most , is that some guys dont have that issue at all , and if some dont have , or its a app related , and they dont have that app , or it a faulty units.
For it to be software , it would be on all devices , not on some

I didn't have the issue without the screen protector on, I do have the issue with a screen protector on. Both times phone was in Apple silicone case. If something is faulty, I would have noticed it immediately when first typing on the keyboard during set up or interacting with the phone when setting it up/downloading apps. Issue only appeared after putting on screen protector one day later

I am experiencing the same problem anyone else here let me know

Saw it on Reddit

Yes, I experiencing touch issues with my new Pro Max. It seems you have to press firmer on the screen which is weird. It misses every few touches or something.
Hopefully they can address it with a software update. If not I will return it.

Also experiencing the same. I blamed the ESR screen protector as I got the cheap 3 pack so I'm glad in a way that it's not just me!

The same here! From the beginning it was just a feeling that something is not okay but you do not know what. Right now i am writing and it is sooo slow on my desert 16 PM and I have to correct every word. Grrr. I have the other iPhone 16 Pro Max in White which I am seriously thinking to try.

btw, I put immediately Spigen EZ Fit Screen Protector and I managed to put it on after few attempts and I notice that the screenshield is not for whole display, there are few mm left and maybe this is the reason it affects sensibility. And I have Spigen transparent case.
OMG writing these senteces was hell!

My 16 Pro max has been bizarre, when typing on it with my left hand it's absolutely fine but with right hand there's a delay in typing but there are times when there's a delay opening apps.

Here’s a video I took showing my issue. I do have a ESR screen protector on. Without the screen protector it works fine. My wife’s 14PM has a screen protector on it as well and I can’t replicate this. So I used a spare 14PM max screen protector that on her phone just to make sure it’s not the ESR protector causing this, and I get the same results, missed taps.

Listen.
If screen protectors are issue , they wouldnt be made , would they.
So , forget to mention screen protectors , and put this on youtube , for apple to see , otherwise , they will tell you this.
“Sir , your screen protector is to blame , so remove it by all means , scrath up your 1500€ invesment and then you will buy another phone next year”

Stop being bots , all of you.
Forget the screen protectors
Just , dont mention them at all , here is fine , but not out loud , dont give those apples a reson to have anything to say to you

What i see , this is the whole diferent from other videos i saw on youtube , but we come to beginig….
Or its a sotware issue or defective screens
Fact that apple did not adrees us all , just wake my suspison that its a hardware issue , or a bug that they dont have a clue where to look for

Having these similar issues on my 16 Pro. Thought I was going crazy. Annoying part is when typing on the keyboard I’ve been having all kinds of mispellings/miskeys that I normally haven’t had issues with in the many many years I’ve been using iPhones. And scrolling slowly, at a certain speed, on websites is unresponsive.

Hopefully this gets addressed soon.

Here’s a video of my scrolling issue. It’s when I scroll at a certain speed, not too slow and not too fast.

My finger IS detected when the issue happens but just doesn’t scroll and then if I keep my finger on and swipe faster, it’ll scroll.

I have an ESR screen protector but I saw a post earlier in this thread of someone testing out the scrolling issue on the Apple display phones, which I can replicate.

Have you tested without the screen protector? I wondering if the slightly curved display and the screen protectors aren’t playing well? Mine works fine without the protector, but that’s no excuse on apples end to make us not use a screen protector.

I’ve only started having touch issues since I’ve applied my ESR protector, never noticed issues before.

It’s annoying but not yet wanting to “waste” a screen protector to see if it fixes the issue. :)

But what do you mean by the slightly curved display? Does the stock screen have a slight curve to it?
