Just jailbroken iPhone 5 and 5s on 7.1 b3 using this patched version of evasi0n.

https://twitter.com/EveryApplesPro/status/420684318152085504

Tested it out with the beta expiry hack and that still works too (set clock forward to 1 May.)

Have fun!

If anyone's curious:
The evasi0n7 executable in this patched version is almost the same as the one in the regular evasi0n 7 v1.0.2 - just with buildnumber 11D5099e replaced with 11d5127c (support for iOS7.1b3 instead of iOS7.1b1).

Seems trustworthy enough.

Is the evasion version up on their site atm? 1.02 beta? Now comes the pain of finding the IPSW for beta 3.

Just use a beta 2 ipsw. Update OTA. Then jailbreak from there. Is there any modified windows builds? I don't own a Mac right now :(

Where do you get the download that you are talking about? I can't find it on this guys twitter and the link is dead. Also, I don't know if there are more than one modified versions right now, and I'd rather go with the one that is the safe one, which it seems this one is.

Aye also worried about if b3 has poor stability for whatever reason and apple stops signing b2 if they haven't already. And is b3 subject to any jailbreak nuances beyond the known iconsupport problem? Too many scenarios!

You and I, we think alike.

Though I am still a bit tempted, but I'd rather not mess with relative perfection for now. Going to see how this all pans out. beta 3 should be signed for quite a bit.

Agreed, we only get one shot at this :(

Well I have to say b3 feels a LOT better than b2. Notable changes to me:

1. 5s doesn't seem to do crazy boot loop process on reboot anymore.
2. IconSupport working fine on my 5s and 5.
3. Plist hack seems to work too - have set phone forward to May 1st and still works, like before.
4. Bugs that we're starting to irritate me with Music app and iTunes Match are now fixed.
5. Far fewer known issues in release notes.

Don't forget I have an iPhone 4 running b1 so will know for definite if plist hack works by this time next week so in worst case can go back to 7.0.4.

I'd encourage you to give b3 a go, particularly if you have a 64 bit device. You will still have until 27 Jan to go back to b2 if you don't like it.

Really ? Beta 2 is for sure still signed? And are you using the unofficial jailbreak?

Apple doesn't tend to bother stopping signing betas since they expire anyway - for example I restored iPhone 4 to beta 1 to validate the plist hack only last week, quite a few weeks after beta 2 was released. However I am not planning to test whether b2 still being signed. Maybe next week after I've tested the expiry hack on b1 next week. I'd put money on it being ok but seriously doubt you'd want to go back.

As for IconSupport, I haven't tried 2x2 folder icon but homescreendesigner worked fine for me on 5s and 5 running b3.

True but you trust that unofficial evasi0n in the interim? I guess you do always have options but just curious.

All it does is change the b1 build number for b3's so evasi0n acknowledges b3. Underlying jailbreak code is obfuscated so yes I trust it. Maybe I'm not being cautious enough but hey, I'm on b3, it's jailbroken and it's better than b2 was in a lot of ways.

:)

You sold me on the car.

Thank you. I just needed a little encouragement. Can always return to beta 2 if I feel beta 3 has some tragic flaws.

EDIT: got a bootloop on rMini, restoring to beta 2. Gonna hold off on my iPhone 5 glad about that anyways because iPhone I have more stuff to set up.

Strange - just jailbroke my rMini 128gb cellular+wifi and it worked just fine. When did you get the boot loop? During the jailbreak?

That link is dead! You got a fresh, working upload link for the version of evasi0n you used? TIA

Nevermind

Yep

going to try one more time

nope reboot loop again . oh well

Exact steps I followed were:

  1. Backup iPad in iTunes
  2. Do full restore to 7.1 b3 (not OTA) in iTunes
  3. When connects back to iTunes do restore from backup
  4. Do not set passcode on device yet
  5. When iPad reboots after restore, quit iTunes (so Apps etc. don't sync back to device yet)
  6. Run evasi0n jailbreak
  7. Open Cydia and let it do its thing (resprings when done)
  8. Open Cydia again and apply all updates
  9. Open iTunes again and sync back all apps
  10. Start re-installing tweaks

Key steps I think are the fresh restore (i.e. not OTA) and lack of passcode

I have performed this on my MacBook Air on OS X 10.9.1 on iPad mini retina Wifi+Cell (128GB), iPhone 5s (32GB), and iPhone 5 (32GB) and it has worked every time, first time.

Hope that helps...

I'm doing everything you do same specs except wifi Rmini and no restore from backup. The latter must be it. Or my model # not being compatible
