Any one else concerned about chpwn's tweet that his updated tweaks aren't compatible seems to be because 7.1 is under NDA?

What do you make of that?

And how confident are we on this working to remove the expiration date? Would love 7.1 but don't want to lose the JB.

I wouldn't worry about it. 7.1 is currently under NDA, but won't be once it is fully released. And honestly, 7.0.4 is straight garbage on 64 bit devices. Personally, I'd rather be JB-less on 7.1 than JB'd on 7.0.4. Regardless, many of us have already tested changing the date and did not receive an activation error once we applied the fixes. If I remember correctly, someone also loaded beta 1 with the changes on a spare 5 he had to test changing the expiry date. We'll know before beta 2 expires.

Got a slight off-topic question - what does the reboot cycle look like for anyone else with an iPhone 5s jailbroken on 7.1?

My iPad mini retina boots completely normally but iPhone 5s does a weird cycle where it starts boot, then Apple logo flashes off and it starts boot again (sometimes does this three or four times, sometimes none) before it then reboots. I've tried complete restore and rejailbreak many times and effect is always the same.

I reinstalled the evasi0n 7 untether in Cydia and it made it better but just wondering if anyone else has this before I do another complete restore but set up as new phone. It does work, just a little bit annoying I guess and can't understand why it works fine on my 64 bit iPad mini but not as perfectly on my 5s.

Did find this on jailbreakqa.com so other people are apparently seeing this but they obviously don't like to talk about betas on there so closed it:

Does anyone else ever see the evasion logo and reading kernel flash on the screen too?

Shoot I am struggling to boot into it. Took 3 hard resets to get me in, keeps doing the flashing over and over. EDIT- just reset...

i did see it first time i changed the plist, its normal, let it do its tjing

yea only the first time for me too. This was consistent over both times ive restored 7.1b2. I've also had to do one hard reset after the plist change (maybe this was due to me testing by setting a date beyond the expiration), because of a funky boot at some point, usually soon after.

when specifically? i know it was earlier but i'm tired haha.

also if beta 3 doesnt fix up evasi0n holes, aren't you guys worried what if its buggier than beta 2 and beta 2 isnt signed anymore?

why on earth is vociemail not working on my phone? its at&t and I gave them my IMEI earlier. tried resetting network settings, leaving a voicemail it just cuts off my line, etc.

do i have to call them i suppose? does samething on 7.0.4?

I'm not really sure what beta 3 even has to do with us. We're all JB'd and OTA is blocked while JB'd. We aren't going anywhere from 7.1 beta 2 unless we restore to it using the IPSW. Beta 2 is also signed until the 27th of January.

i doubt beta 3 is gonna patch anything, i mean the betas are just meant for developers so why would they patch it? Im not expecting them to till 7.1 official.

That makes me worry perhaps it still will shut down after that date if the date effects it...

Is there a possibility that Apple could pull a kill switch on this beta?

Also I have noticed that it takes longer to boot after opening cydia for the first time compared to just when jailbroken.

I take this to mean that IconSupport (and his other tweaks) won't be updated to run on 7.1 either until 7.1 is officially released or ever.

This is the reason iconoclasm doesn't work on 7.1 - It took me a day of messing with everything to figure this out...

Is that what you mean by concern?

Do the preferences show up in settings for people on 5s? I don't see mine there...

Do you have preference loader?

Yeah I had the same thought... for some reason the app that had a preference bundle didn't install it. I added it and it did show up now.

So only concern is tweak compatibility and expiration of the beta.

Nevermind- still having a hard time with reliability of this turning on.

What differences are there between 7.0.4 and 7.1b2? I think I am going to downgrade.

Yeah it's me that has the spare phone running b1 with the hack. It was a spare 5 but then realised if it didn't work I'd be screwed so made it a spare 4 instead which is at least always going to have tethered jailbreak. It's currently turned off in my drawer waiting for expiry date. B1 expires on 13 January so I will report back on 14 January to let you know if it worked.

I'm thinking/hoping b3 won't patch anything because rumours were it was seeded to partners about same time jailbreak came out and who knows how long these things will take to patch. All we can be sure of is this b3 will be out before 27 Jan - I'm guessing next week or week after and if it doesn't work then we'll still have until 27th to go back down to b2.

I've done a lot of controlled tests and started posting a lot of relevant info in the iOS7 forum - see for example https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/18522600/ .

I'd personally stay with 7.1b2, particularly
- on 64-bit devices or, WRT 32 bit ones,
- on iPhones (as opposed to iPads)

I have a 5s and a rMini. I got rid of my android because it would take several minutes and sometimes multiple hard resets to get my phone on. I don't want to start that with the 5s. If that was fixed I would stick with it. I also don't have too many crashes on 7.0.4 on the phone. I think I'm more likely to go with it on the iPad, but I think I won't on either.

Also i don't want the expiration hack to fail and lose my jailbreak.

Same issue on my 5s

That's useful to know - glad it isn't just me and going to hold off the inconvenience of full restore as new phone because sounds like will happen again.

It's not as if I ever really reboot anyway (especially now I can respring as it's jailbroken) but was a little concerned it was going to be unreliable.

Thanks!

I too have the same issue on my 5s 7.1b2
How are you dealing with it?
Since you re-installed, sis you notice if it had the problem before any tweaks?
Dis you have the issue before editing the plist to make it look like 7.0.4?

Thanks

Seems to just be a common issue. Does always boot though so just going to live with it. Looking in logs on my device it's an evasi0n issue not tweaks.

It occurred even before opening chia the first time for me.

It usually booted for me but not always.

I went back to 7.0.4. This plus tweaks maybe not being supported plus not being sure if it would expire and I lose my whole beta made it not worth it at all.

Wait- anyone on this have activator installed? Does the new update make it boot faster or better?

yep.

By the way, when I set time forward to like June 2014, iMessage will not sign me in no matter what. As soon as I switch time back, it does..

Does this mean beta people are SOL?

Google stuff (calendar and IMAP) pop up with errors also.

I guess not.. tried it on my 3gs, same result with that. haha!

Website certificates also fail when setting the time forward, I would think it has more to do with an inaccurate date.
