Got a slight off-topic question - what does the reboot cycle look like for anyone else with an iPhone 5s jailbroken on 7.1?

My iPad mini retina boots completely normally but iPhone 5s does a weird cycle where it starts boot, then Apple logo flashes off and it starts boot again (sometimes does this three or four times, sometimes none) before it then reboots. I've tried complete restore and rejailbreak many times and effect is always the same.

I reinstalled the evasi0n 7 untether in Cydia and it made it better but just wondering if anyone else has this before I do another complete restore but set up as new phone. It does work, just a little bit annoying I guess and can't understand why it works fine on my 64 bit iPad mini but not as perfectly on my 5s.

Did find this on jailbreakqa.com so other people are apparently seeing this but they obviously don't like to talk about betas on there so closed it:

IOS 7.1 Beta 2 + Cydia problem

I successfully installed 7.1 beta 2 install + removed the beta exportation,

however, I am having a problem with bitesms 8 beta 4 on 7.1

I get an "unsupported url" when utilizing "open" or "call" on QC/QR

I confirmed with no other tweaks installed, and running on Sauriks updated
Cydia Substrate.

If I restore to 7.04 everything works ok.

If I restore back to 7.1 same thing.

I also noticed that the tweak "DockShift" works on 7.04 but not 7.1

Anyone else having a problem with Bitesms & 7.04.

Between Bitesms and DockShift I am trying to figure out if I should
stay on 7.1 or 7.04. Apple could drop 7.05 and stop signing 7.04 any day!

I am worried that there may be other incompatibility issues in the future

I'm gonna post a topic on Bitesms forums.

Any comments?

I did; proof:

And it installs just fine on my untampered-version (I haven't changed the build nr after a recent full restore) 7.1.

Yea I believe it installs just fine with the version set to 7.1, but you cannot purchase it. I had to set it to 7.0.4 to make the purchase, like how you re getting the iOS version not supported error in the screenshot.

My air has the same boot cycle, however occasionally it has a normal one as well. I want to note that it seems it takes the same amount of time, just that the apple logo flashes

That's useful to know - glad it isn't just me and going to hold off the inconvenience of full restore as new phone because sounds like will happen again.

It's not as if I ever really reboot anyway (especially now I can respring as it's jailbroken) but was a little concerned it was going to be unreliable.

Thanks!

I've noticed quite a few tweaks doing this i.e. Just not working on 7.1.

Trying to weigh up in my mind whether I want the stability of 7.1 and a few good tweaks or all the tweaks and 7.0.4. Personally I found my 64 bit devices crashed loads on stock 7.0.4 so the stability of 7.1 is probably going to win.

Guess can't have it all! :/

Have you tried changing the version number in the plist to 7.0.4 while on 7.1b2?, that seems to have fixed purchasing issues for me, I'd wager it could help.

Yep. Was more the fact that a number of tweaks just simply won't work on 7.1.

e.g. some found so far are:

- DockShift
- TapTodaysCalendar
- CCControls
- ControlTask

Not the end of the world I guess but leaves me with conundrum of wanting 7.1 for the increased stability but then also wanting to be able to use all the tweaks.

Hmmm

Thanks- food for thought. Safari's performance alone makes me want to stay on 7.1b2 :-/

think about this, tweak developers can always update and support their tweaks and you could even help them do that because you are on 7.1b2. But you cannot achieve greater safari performance or stability on 7.0.4 (not that I'm aware of)

do you have activator installed at all? Ryan just sent out an update and should be on cydia now, it fixed it for me (running 5s 7.1b2)

How stable is this beta? Solid enough to use as just 7.1 and never upgrade? And it's guarenteed that it won't deactivate?

I'm my own experiences its a lot more stable, and performance wise its a beast compared to 7.0.4. Honestly i think of iOS 7.0.x as beta and this as a final version. Its not 100% guaranteed but i think it will last. We will know January 13/14 when the first beta expires, if it lasts longer than that then we are set forever on beta 2 :)

Very stable. Probably about 3% better than iOS 7.0.4 :p

The only guarantees in life is death and taxes!! :)

Worse case scenario, it deactivates and you forced to restore to 7.0.4 assuming that's still being signed by Apple.

If 7.0.4 has been updated to 7.0.5 and the jailbreak patched and 7.1b2 is deactivated on the 24th your only option is a restore to 7.0.5 and at the expense of your jailbreak.

Let's hope for the best.

Yip holding all appendages!!

As much as I'm enjoying iOS 7, jailbreak tweaks and mods just takes it to another level!

I've got an S4 but am enjoying my 5c so much now that I'm about to make it my default device again!

Pity it runs a nano sim though, means I need to trim or replace the nano sim currently in the S4.

Still does it for me but it does at least eventually boot after few cycles so not huge deal. And let's face it, I don't need to reboot that often. :)

Thanks a lot OP for the guide. It worked perfectly on my iPhone 5 running 7.1 beta 2.

I am not sure whether this is directly related to the mod I just did, but I can't open my ring tones menu under sounds. It just crash :(

those work for me on b2

I got it to work somewhat, I used that plist that was uploaded - finally got to the lock screen, can use my phone normally, all fast, etc.

But, when I reboot (hold power - shut down) or hard reboot it will boot loop, doesn't happen when I respring, etc only when I shut down the phone completely.

Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a fix for it?

(UDID registered on my dev acct btw)

edit: yes full restore, no OTA. (I had to restore/rejailbreak/upload plist many times, I tried manually editing via iFile but no avail)

Happened to me once. I restored the device (DFU) to 7.1 beta 2 and then Jailbroke it. After that it worked.

iPhone 5 on iOS 7.1b2

Must have been an arm64 issue then rather than 7.1. Awesome. (My test devices are iPad mini 2 and 5s.)

Guess I just need to wait for tweaks to be updated.

Also need to wait for 7.1b1 expiry to test the expiry prevention hack for real and then I will sit tight on 7.1. Just got to hope it works and if it doesn't that Apple hasn't pushed out 7.0.5 in meantime.

Any one else concerned about chpwn's tweet that his updated tweaks aren't compatible seems to be because 7.1 is under NDA?
