UK store still says delivery july 2nd.
Is that possible or did they "forget"to update the website?

how can it be $299 in the states and then be £599 in the UK? - Jobs you're having a laugh!! £599 = $888

Im starting to lose all faith in this company!!!

RIP OFF

$299 ties you into a 2 year contract. The UK prices that have so far been announced are unlocked iPhone prices. So you can't compare them.

Contract prices have not been announced in the UK yet, but they won't be much more expensive compared to the US prices if you get your math right. (i.e. include US sales tax, cost of doing business in the UK compared to US, etc.)

Stop whining, start using your head.

my prediction:

WAIT LINES WILL BE THE LONGEST IN APPLE HISTORY NEXT THURSDAY

sorry for the caps but I think its true.

My waiting will be done on my couch while sipping a frosty cold beer and watching for the FedEx truck. Bwaaa haaaa haaaa!

Preordering doesn't guarantee eligibility, either. You are in the same boat as people with reservations. Read the fine print.

yep, get in line...

Yesterday was nuts ...

I confess that I actually spent the whole day (some would argue "compulsively") trying to pre-order ... as I was going about my work.

By about 4:30 PST, I successfully made it through and pre-ordered a 32 GB iPhone 4 which will arrive June 24th. Given I was literally retrying every few minutes (sometimes waiting, say, 10 minutes or longer as I was doing stuff for work) from about 9:30 AM through 4 PM ... and just *barely* made it before Apple sold out ... just proves how difficult it was to make it through. I was tempted several times to just give up. But I am glad I didn't.

This is what I've heard too. People with reservations need to stop worrying and people with preorders need to stop trying to make them worried!

Having said that... I wouldn't stroll in 30 minutes before close.

So what happened last year (3GS) with the reserve vs. pre-order vs. walk in?
Was there a separate line for each?
I'm still on the iphone 2g.

Nice.

Yeah, I am taking the 24th off from work...

To go golfing. Then when I get home, I will have my iPhone waiting for me at my house:D

Radio Shack

Couldn't get through to the web store on Tuesday so went down the street to a Radio Shack to order. Even they were having prob's, my clerk was on the phone to other RS store trying to talk him thru the process. I was the 5th pre-order at that RS. Not sure if mine went thru, I'll find out on the 24th I guess.

So...my dilemma:

I'm going to be flying cross-country on the 24th at 7a. Therefore, I can't possibly get one at the store, and wasn't able to preorder.

I will be able to go to a store on July 5th. If I preorder now, it will ship on July 14th.

Should I preorder and get it on/around the 14th, or should I wait and hope that some store has one between the 5th and the 14th and get it earlier?

What's the history with stores getting new shipments in? Is it regular?

Just order the thing, and be happy that you have a order with a confirmed ship date. Yea you might wait a little longer, but if you do manage to get one before yours ships you can always cancel.

How do you buy more than one? Don't you have to activate them at the store before leaving? Didn't they start that awhile back so you couldn't just buy several and sell them? Looks like a flaw in the system if you ask me. And its not fair to the people who really wanted one but couldnt get into the system to order one. Go capitalism... :(
I was wondering this myself. I don't think you can leave the store without an activated phone.

I have a feeling a lot of you E-Bay bounty hunters are going to be disappointed come June 24.

WTF are you talking about . Preordering from Apple.com gives a delivery date. Are you trying to say that preorders WONT arrive ?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHhahahaHh lmao so many god damn people want this iphone now! thats all this is.

excuse my language.

Well seeing as the preorder will show up on the doorstep.... And even if the phone is activated, $200 + the $375 ETF + approx $50 act fee, + 1 month of data ($15) is $700.

My guess is come the 24th / 25th these phones will be SELLING (not just for sale ) on ebay for >$1K to the rich lazy people who want to be first.

And to think that I was pissed at getting a July 2nd ship date due to not being able to pre-order yesterday.

same boat. i had it a couple times but i stopped to get my card and the time expired and the other one i stopped to make sure everything was correct and it expired again.. lame

I have to wonder if people are not just simply erroneously calling it "iPhone 4G" due to it being "the one after the 3G", with no clue at all about 3G/4G networks and why the 3G was named such.

I wish. If that was the case, I wouldn't have to explain to them that it is not 4g capable, and that At&t doesn't have a 4g network.

And there you have it. Reservations do not take a credit card. Good luck to all that made reservations. That's all I can say...

So lets take a look back to last year. How did Apple retail stores handle this?
Did pre-order in store pick-ups get front of line status? Did "reserve" orders get priority over walk-ins. What am I missing here?
