Is the average age of Macrumors users posted somewhere? That's got to be the reason for all of the hate against U2.

I love the 'irrelevant!!' posts which are trying to rustle everyone's jimmies. The last U2 album (which was 5 years ago, which is eternity in pop culture relativity) has been certified platinum something like 5 times over, and was nominated for a grammy.

I, for one, would love to see a U2 tie in .

Why is Apple making this launch such a huge deal? The only real notable thing that they are doing hardware wise is get with the mass population and making bigger screens. There just has to be something that hasn't been rumored yet that they are planning hardware wise for this phone. If not they are, in my opinion, making to big of a deal out of this.

you need to just leave here....NOW!

When people buy a red iPad case..... They don't do it for Bono.... They buy it because the color is cool....that's all

10 years ago U2 was cooler than Apple so it made sense. This could be Billy Joel or Bruce Sprinstein....sure they have sell-out crowds but the majority of the population could care less.

This is like going to see Star Wars episode 7 and finding out Bill Gates will be playing a major part. I use Bill Gates as the example because of the charity angle that everyone is using.

Those band appearances at apple events always bring back nostalgic memories... but they were always pointless. kinda.

I sure just hope that the mysterious building is not just a stage for them!!!

I wish the iPhones and iWatch were the most significant. Plus who the hell wants to delete an album off their phone as soon as they unbox it. It'll almost feel like you bought it off eBay.

afraid not mate, Sony introduced the first Hi-Res audio system back in March, then more systems in April, along with all the Hi-Res supporting devices announced at IFA

Dude, I was talking of an "iPod like" player just like the Walkman they just announced (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPru8E-tYVo). And who cares if Sony releases a Hi-Res player before Apple. It wound't be the first time Apple launched a similar product/feature after other companies have done it. The fact is that Apple has more chances to bring Hi-Res to the masses than any other company just because they have the most successful music store in the world.

Kind of surprise about the hate here towards Bono and U2. Seems a bit odd.

Bono does put a lot of energy on good causes and U2 still producing great music despite being past their "prime". In comparison to the current music landscape nowadays, I would say they still relevant and creating great tunes.

Go figure.

**** U2! they haven't even been relevant for a decade!

I was going to say that the last good U2 album came out when Steve Jobs still had a full head of hair. Maybe they did come out with something in the late 90s. I stopped listening.

Maybe they will have a Steve Jobs hologram deliver the announcements...sort of like how an MJ hologram gave a performance to the Billboard awards.

The grammies are political in nature. Winning one doesn't mean your music is worth listening to.

Modern youth has no memories of music, and nothing to physically hold to remind them of going to the shop on said day with friends, buying that record or CD and playing it 'til it wore out.

Sterile, clinical, fickle noughties youths with your online "boxed set" virtual products, and the attention span of a gold fish... I sincerely pity you, in many ways.

They did some good stuff 30 years ago and since then have done very little to stay fresh or relevant. Apple + U2 feels like jumping the shark.
