did you own a macbook before? or is this your first one?

slanted function keys???.. you mean the print is slanted or the actual key is not square on?

oh well.. at least you have yours now... where's the unboxing video!?!? :D

Haha, there are millions of those already! I suppose a UK keyboard would be very slightly new but not by much!
Many people see slanted keys, it means the key itself is not level with the top case, one side higher than the other. I really wouldn't worry about this, and don't let my complaints about the screen get to you either - it does look rather good when viewed correctly.

This is my first Mac.

Shipment Delayed

oh no...

just re-checked my status and now it has the doomed:

Current Delivery Status In Transit to Customer - Shipment Delayed :(

i've now joined the club the rest of you guys are in!! lol..

This might be relevant to anybody whose shipping status is stuck on 'in transit to customer, shipment on schedule.':

This morning, my status changed from the above to 'preparing handover to final carrier'. However, by 13:00 it had changed back to 'in transit to customer, shipment on schedule.' Given the shipping status date has also updated to today (the 28th), I'm wondering if perhaps my package (amongst others) has left Holland for the UK now, but the carrier details just haven't been updated yet.

Could it be possible that the other people on this board who don't think their shipping statuses have changed actually missed the short window in which 'preparing handover' was displayed?

I'm in the same boat, I got the preparin handover then shipment delayed and by the afternoon it went back to in transit to customer. No carrier details either I do hope it arrives by the delivery date 29th. But I'm beginning to think it won't be here until november.

good news! I just got another call back from the executive team guy and he says the courier has picked up the delivery and I should expect a delivery tommorow. YAY! might well apply to other people on this thread

Im the same

last night: Delayed
This morning: Hand over to courier
Now: In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule

I ordered on the 15th, shipped on the 22nd. Ordered a base Alu Macbook, printer and iPod Touch.

My status went from

1/ In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule (22nd)
2/ In Transit to Customer - Shipment delayed (yesterday)
3/ Preparing for handover to Final Courier (today)
4/ In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule (right now)

the Estimated Delivery Date has stayed consistently at "01 Nov 2008 (Subject to change)"

Got charged today

Hopefully that means something.

When I check my order the iPod nano and Printer say the 31st, the macbook says 5-6th november however I cant track that, but I can track both the iPod nano and printer separetly although it takes me to the same page and the macbook is included in the items on this pop-up window  Hopefully it comes the 31st anyway :)

I've got very similar dates. Don't build your hopes up. Based on what others are saying, I suspect this means the items are expected to be merged together on the 31st, and then sent on together for delivery to you on 5-6th November. In reality though, it looks like they usually beat the estimated dates by 1-3 days for most people.

I think many people are getting disappointed because they pin their hopes on the earlier date, but that is actually the date that the various items are due to be merged together. Apple really needs to present the tracking information in a more user friendly way!

Yay - mine says it was shipped today. That's a day earlier than they said, but it still says Estimated Delivery Date (Subject to change) 05 Nov 2008:mad:

My status just changed to

"Current Delivery Status In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule 28 Oct 2008"

So it means i will receive my laptop within 31 oct. Maybe tomorrow!!!

Does it mean they have now sent it to Denmark??

What is the status of urs?

Score! Aside from the fact that I didn't order a printer, my order, delivery dates and statuses all match yours exactly (although right now my order status is 'Delivery scheduled by final carrier, see estimated delivery date').

Let's hope for new macbooks tomorrow then, mate :D

I have to say that the executive relations team is quite good - as soon as you say that you are disappointed with apple, or say you will stop buying their products, etc, they get straight bck to you.

A guy on the regular customer services phone line swore at me when I was calling about a really old, broken iPod, i.e. well before colour screens, i complained, and they gave me a top of the line 30 gig video ipod for free - and I was a year out of warranty!

So for people who are wondering whether it works, in my experience, yes.

Exactly the same for me. Ordered 2.4GHz 4GB display adaptor and iPod on 14th.

Delivery tomorrow?

Ooh, shipment status page updated again...

TNT as the carrier, with tracking number (although it doesn't work, yet) and a new delivery date of tomorrow :)

cool lets hope the executive wasn't making stuff up and we get deiliveries tomorrow

Not holding my breath but it would be a nice surprise. I ordered just after the keynote, still no tracking and still showing on time for 31st Delivery. I guess I was a little naive in thinking that ordering from the Apple Online Store would be a better experience than it seems to have been. That said I wanted to BTO so I had little choice.

As long as it is ok when it turns up that is really all that matters.

Having money charged on your account means nothing

A cool 4 figure sum left mine before they had seemingly built my system

All I can say is that, after two weeks of waiting, if my Macbook isn't in absolutely pristine condition I'm going to go mental
