How does everyone feel about the Covid situation in the UK? seems to be getting out of control again. I can see restrictions comning in force again. Here in Nottingham cases are on the up. Worrying times.
Unfortunately I don't see the govt putting in placing any lockdowns or restrictions. They may relent to actual use of the covid passport system though. I went to RoI in September and I was shocked at how little you could do without showing proof of vaccination. Couldn't even book a table at a restaurant without proof. I thought it was amazing - and worrying that we don't have a proper system in place here.

I think the government is relying on the fact that, we the public, 'don't care' anymore and want to carry on with 'normal life'. Sadly, I think they're right. It's scary because it's clear that they're fine with the way they've handled, and continue to handle, the covid situation.

100% agree with you here

Thank you, but spoke with Apple earlier and they quoted 14" £1726 and 16" £2158. Not sure why 14" price is different. Pretty expensive prices was thinking of selling my M1 MBP privately and then funding for 14" but looks like will be shelling a lot more out than expected.
Strange, maybe that had a student-discounted polishing cloth thrown in… I hadn’t looked until you asked and was surprised at the costs now…

How much should I aim for if I were to sell the below?

Macbook Pro 16" - Late 2019
2.3GHz 8‑core Intel Core i9
32GB RAM
1TB SSD
AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB of GDDR6 memory

Condition is as new - in fact I have never even touched the keyboard as I use a magic keyboard and mouse. System has never left my desk since new - so its absolute mint. Never had any issues etc either.
Have all original box and accessories (even the outer brown shipping box it came in! lol)

I'm toying with the idea of selling and picking up an iMac depending upon the upgraded model specs (would like a M1 Pro or Max, with 4TB ports and 10GBe as a minimum).......all depends on price - if I have to put in a ridiculous amount above the price of my current MBP I'd hold on to the MBP for another few years!

the Pro's are very similarly priced at the moment - Amazon or John Lewis have them at £188 - the latter comes with a 2 year guarantee.....
Yes I’ve ordered the Pros from John Lewis for pickup. I’m going to try them out and see how I get on with them.

What does everyone think the lineup of Macs going to look like once the transition to Apple Silicone is done? I would say:
13" MacBook Air
14" MacBook Air (replaces current MBP 13" 2020)
14" MacBook Pro
16" MacBook Pro

I feel the Pro is in a very odd position. Why is it called the MBP when it does not follow the new chassis design, notch display, ProMotion etc. Don't think they can even provide all that at the £1299 price either. That's why I think it will get replaced or removed.

I mentioned in another thread the same/similar thing. I think the 13 Pro could be dropped and an additional Air size could be introduced. Reckon it'd be 15" though - giving Apple a product to hit every size point. I could see the 15" coming in at the exact same point as the current 13" price.

I’d be interested too. I went from Nikons to Olympus but very rarely pick mine up now, did some paid family portraiture but lockdown dumped that on its head, and my knees are getting old for crawling around on the floor of peoples homes persuading that grouchy toddle to like me…
i Like the idea of something to be able to grip the phone with a natural camera button position, and the Adonit looked good but doesn’t seem to be for more recent phones…
I'm slightly ashamed to say that I solved my camera dilemma by buying a second-hand Olympus Pen E-PL9 on eBay, in the limited edition denim blue (the black and silver one was my first choice - gorgeously retro, looking a bit like my late dad's Pen EE half-frame from the 1960s). It has a touchscreen interface (no viewfinder) but interchangeable lenses, shutter on top and built-in Bluetooth from transfering images. I'll let you know how I get on...

There’s a good photo forum on here. Why not post some images in the POTD thread?

Have family in Newcastle - I remember going to the 'Metro Centre' years back and recall a little fairground on the top floor with a mini rollercoaster! Is that even still there?!

MetroLand! Sadly it’s not. The metro centre lost all its character years ago, it’s now just like every other shopping centre.

soo... I'm been epically trolling a friend at work for years now. he's been very anti Apple and always had android/google phones..

its working slowly though, he even bought the 13" M1 last year! I've been on at him to move to iPhone but not cracked that nut yet.

when the new pixel launched on Tuesday, he was on WhatsApp moaning about how the google store fell apart repeatedly across the globe and he couldn't order the phone for him and his wife.. I got the point where I managed to get into the store and even add the phone to the basket for some more trolling!! but then accidentally did this....

Nearly had a heart attack! ??

Managed to cancel quickly and the hold on the card came of sharpish… thank god!

may have to lay of the trolling for a bit

If he was paying cash I’m sure he would have reimbursed ya! But lmfao that is some dedication to the troll movement ?

Nope. Sticking with my pro’s. Although they seem to have been more flaky since iOS 15. For example out for a walk earlier on a call. Then when the call finishes I put some music on. Like 10-15 seconds later. The iPhone decided I’d like to listen through the external speaker. Why?
