I can't imagine adding to the weight of this device. That's why I left my 11 Pro Max for this. I'd rather get an external Anker battery.

This quote is exactly why so many of us are reacting the way we are to this thread. Sure, it would be nice if Apple had given us the same or better battery than the 11, but the fact that they didn’t isn’t enough to warrant the overreaction of the OP. So much unnecessary melodrama. 🤦🏻♂️

I’m saying it’s good. People can obsess over YouTube videos all they want. My phone is finishing the day in moderate use with charge to spare. I don’t care about the rest.
I finished today at 74% (and I consider today heavy usage (videos, YouTube, 3-4 long calls, etc)). My iPhone 11 Pro Max was usually mid 80%.

My iPhone XS Max would be dead by Sunday night football after heavy usage for fantasy football. With the 12 pro, my phone was still at 36% when I went to bed at midnight. I’m very happy with the 12 pro battery life.
yeah, just finished a day with 40% left very heavy use all day, and about 4 hours on calls..... not bad!
Wish I could say the same I worked from home and in wifi all day used it very lightly for pandora and browsing social media. I am at 45% my 11PM would be maybe at 75% I am super disappointed and I am unfortunately returning it. Not sure at this point if I will just stick with the 11PM or get the 12PM. I really don't want to go any bigger and was hoping the 12 pro would work out.

.Get an Anker 18w 10k battery and you got yourself a mobile charging station that you can take anywhere / put anywhere.
I love the size and feel of this phone. I don't think I can ever go back to a max.
No that was on the 12 pro. I know it doesn't sound all that bad but I was at home in wifi and was sitting on my desk 90% of the day untouched. When I am out in the field traveling I am afraid to see what the battery life would be, to be honest as I would be heavily using t throughout the day.
I think they thought 11pm was 11:00pm.

It could have 6 hour standby battery life and it wouldn’t matter to me. I’m always near a charger. The battery life in general could get significantly worse and it would have zero effect.
I don’t get why people obsess over the battery mAh or RAM specs. These are tools with jobs. Judge them on practical metrics. If you finish the day and you’re above 20% what more do you want!?
I have chargers next to my bed, next to my office desk, my home desk, and on the couch here where I'm sitting. <cough>. Now... I need one for the bathroom ...
I don't use them all the time but I like to have them available for when I want to.
I guess everyones scenario is different I see your side to accessibility of chargers. Again were all on here venting about first world problems I guess!!! Apparently I have been spoiled with the max size battery strengths.
The 11 Pro Max had an amazing battery. Variety is the spice of life. I’m sure the 12 Pro Max or an 11pm
will suit you well.
I am coming from an iPhone X I got on launch day, and thoroughly expect my iPhone 12 Pro to be a good upgrade. Especially given it is only at 84% battery health.
I agree though, most people don’t upgrade year over year, and as such this should still be an upgrade for most.
If I subtract the usage that corresponds to the previous cycle, and add about an hour for 100-97% (more or less, YMMV), you’d be getting around 9 hours from 100 to around 20%. That’s over 10 hours for a full cycle. Your usage doesn’t seem too heavy, and it appears to be lower than the Xʀ and the 11 series, but... it’s not too bad? I expected worse. Still too few results to jump to any conclusion, but I like that battery life.
