Anyone know if the same RAM as past RiMac should be compatible? I want to order some RAM from Crucial right away but 2014 is their most recent i7 iMac.

Like many, still wondering if any of the new 4K and 5K iMacs have Target Display Mode. No mentions at all in Apple's website.

From the new iMac 'performance' page:

'A fifth-generation Intel Core processor in the 21.5-inch iMac. An all-new sixth-generation Intel Core processor in the 27-inch iMac'

so looks like Broadwell in the 21.5inch and Skylake in the 27?

Exactly this.

Canadian site up to date for any other Canucks out there.

I'm really only in a position to upgrade on one of the specs, so is there any sort of consensus on which would be most worthwhile? Processor? Memory? Storage?

Is the trackpad worth investing in?

Thanks for any insight. :)

Well this refers to the last gen of trackpad but I've not seen many better trackpads than the one sold by Apple, however I've seen better mice.

It'll come down to your personal preference.

New lines launched today. Still no Skylake. Which means I'm still on my 2012 iMac.

Changing from Magic Mouse 2 to a Magic Trackpad 2 costs $50 US in BTO's now? That used to be a free upgrade/swap right?

I doubt it. The limitation is getting all of the ones and zeros out of the host computer fast enough to drive the 5k display.

Apple's still figuring out how badly to gouge us in Australia haha. No prices yet!

Well, I'll be making the move to the iMac from the 2010 MBP I've been using for the last 5 years. I've never owned a Mac desktop before, so I'm just wondering how much use I'd actually get out of the trackpad. Is it mostly intended for a specific demographic, like photo editors and such, or does it facilitate enough day-to-day functions to justify getting it?

Hate to be a pain with all of the questions, but I'd like to make as informed a purchase as possible. Thanks for helping out. :)

Well I'm likely going to pull the trigger over the next week or so.

Currently I'm just finishing up at Uni and while that may drag onto December, it certainly won't last until the next refresh and I quite fancy the 15% educational discount.

The only thing I'm unsure about now is which graphics card to go for.

If the main difference between the 29x series and 39x series is a slight bump in speed and a lower heat level then I think it's 395X all the way (Something's got to push those pixels around)

Otherwise its 27" RiMAC, 512GB SSD, 8gb RAM, i7 and the Magic TrackPad 2.
