Not sure about any in that list.. maybe others know. Have you tried removing adapter and drive from machine and from each other, and reinstall? I had that happen once years ago.. the entire reseat fixed it. Although not sure same errors.. but they were SSD related.

If I'm reading this correctly, my 2015 MBP 15" should support this 4TB fanxiang with these specs PCIe 4.0 SSD Extreme Performance: M.2 SSD 4TB adopts PCIe Gen 4 x 4 controller, supports NVMe 2.0 technology, featuring sequential read/write speeds of up to 7000/6000 MB/s, the PCIE 4.0 4TB SSD NVMe SSD even though it's not on the tested list in the Wiki. $350.

Anybody thinks this could be a problem child? TIA!

I upgraded my 2014 Macbook Pro a few months ago with a 2TB SK hynix P41. I had absolutely no problems and it's fast: 2800 write, 3000 read.

(I expected at those speeds to have decent bootup time in Sequoia, but it's still about 4 times slower than booting up Mavericks - with around 700 read/write!)

Edit: it's actually a 2015 Macbook Pro. (who knew? 😉)
What’s about the temperature? P41 is the hot thing

Mine is decent..but I'm using a P31 Gold
P31 Gold is unique and perfect for our needs. But… where to find it today?
Read on THG site that Crucial t500 has similar characteristics and may be considered a successor of P31 Gold. But didn’t find any described case of installation the T500 in our mbp

Has anyone installed a copper heatsink on one of these SSDs? Do the thin ones with the silicone strip fit without putting pressure on the drive when mbp is closed up?

Hi
Could you describe step-by-step the process of installing NVME SSD and installing OS Sonoma there on MBP 11,3 15” 2014?

Now I have the original SSD with Big Sur inside my MBP and BootRom 478.0.0.0.
Also I have external enclosure Acasis MAC3W compatible both with Apple and generic SSD,
Sintech short adapter.
USB Flash with Sonoma installer
And NVME SSD of course.

The question is:
To format and install Sonoma OS to new drive in external enclosure and then swap drives?
Or To swap drives first and install Sonoma to new drive inside the MBP?

It doesn't really matter. Simplest is to create your install drive media. Put in your new SSD in your MBP and just install fresh. Either way will work.

i was seeing the same panic ~daily on my 11" air with Crucial P2 a couple months ago. it's been completely stable again since reseating the drive and Sintech adapter with no other changes

Had anybody successfully use Kingston NV3 on a Macbook Air 2017 ?

I can't make the ssd to show in the diskutil part, i know it's a newer ssd, but i think i read someone make it work so i'm curious if i just lost my money on a hasty, uninformed purchase.

Did it work?

Привет. У меня Macbook Air 13 2015 A1466 обновил до Montery хочу установить ssd Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB но он его не видит ставлю другой тоже не определяет. Помогите может кто сталкивался или что как делать.

Hi. I have a Macbook Air 13 (2015) A1466, updated to Monterey. I want to install a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB SSD, but it doesn't recognize it. I've installed a different one, and it still doesn't recognize it. Can anyone help? Has anyone else encountered this problem or what to do?
The first post of this thread says the 970 EVO Plus needs a FW update.

The first post in another thread says the required FW version is 2B2QEXM7

You need make sure the adapter pins are covered with a Kapton tape to avoid the pins shorting on the metal connector onto logic board. See pics below.

I have EVO Plus 500GB with 2B2QEXM7 installed on my 13" rMBP12,1 and works well:

It runs a bit warm when working hard.

Speeds before (Apple 128GB SSD):

Speeds after (EVO Plus):

Before and after installation of Samsung 970 evo plus 2tb with Sintech adapter (long) to to a macbook pro 2015 15”. Fw on the SSD: 4B2QEXM7, Band width: 4x)

Any advice to get more speed? do you have the same speed with the same setup?

Well, I'll be a son of a....

Somewhere along the line, I seem to have gone mental - and mistakenly started thinking that I got a used mid-2014 Macbook Pro when actually I had a mid-2015. (must have gotten confused with the model number 11.4 - my previous new 2013 Macbook Pro being model number 11.3)

Here's the screenshot anyway:

How did you that? I have a Samsung 970 evo plus (fw:4B2QEXM7, band width: 4x) with Sintech adapter and max writing speed is 2.5 gbps and reading 2 gbps.

hello everyone,
I have a MBP 15'' mid 2015 dual graphics, 512 gb, Updated Monterey, and since I have to replace the battery, I am considering upgrading my storage... so I went through most of the pages here and I am interested in a WD Blue SN570 NVMe SSD 2TB with the sintech short adapter which comes to a total of 255 euros. How does this setup compares to the OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD that you can buy from ifixit at 370 euros? Is there any reason I should pay the extra 115 for the OWC? Is the installation easier? I understand there is no adapter involved, is that the advantage? overheating or battery drain advantages compared to the SN570? or they are absolutely trash like many people say...?
Oh and I am also running windows with Bootcamp... which I plan to restore from an image made with Macrium reflect.
Any opinions? thank you in advance

The main difference is that OWC has a DRAM Cache. IMHO it’s important feature for the system disk.
But I think all the OWC devices are overpriced - due to “made for apple”, adapter-less and ease of installation.
I would recommend some ‘generic’ (non-especially-for-apple) NVME SSD with DRAM and maximum cold. If you find the old Hynix P31 - you’ll take the jackpot

Didn't the OWC SSD drives have a problem with Standby and Hibernate in the 2015 MacBook Pros as well?

I did a bit of research on them and it sounds like the issues were never resolved (you have to disable those modes to make the MacBook work).

Hynix P31 2Tb is really difficult to find in a reasonable price... I think I saw one at Ali-Xpress for 295 euros plus shipping to Europe, plus customs tax... untenable...

I have a 2TB WD Blue SN570 in one of my 15" 2015 MBPs & it works great. When I upgraded my other MBP I couldn't find another SN570 as it had been superseded by the SN580. The SN580 also works great although interestingly performance is a little better with the SN570.

The 2015 Macbook Pros never had that issue, if I remember correctly.
The issue has been resolved by Apple with one firmware update (see page 300).
