@gilles_polysoft I honestly sincerely hope that the banks will finally cut you off from accepting payments online.
Join the club.So I am also having the communication problem with Polysoft.
@ethanielk I didn't ship it UPS - I just bought the storage based on watching videos on YouTube. Polysoft picked the shipper, not me. I'm still hoping that @gilles_polysoft will simply send the proper invoice they are requesting. **** happens in the world I get it but I haven't fully given up on the situation yet and I'm hoping that someone at Polysoft sees this and fixes the invoice problem so I can get my upgrade.
To be clear though, if UPS returns the package to sender I will do a charge back.
Thank you everyone — it’s working!Good luck on your upgrade - hopefully its a smooth and uneventful process.
I'm assuming from Ali-Express? If so, many people here have posted glowing reports on turn around time, customer support and quality of the product.. All things that the OP has seemingly fell behind on.I ordered a Mac Studio M1 4 TB SSD upgrade from China on February 6, and I received it today, February 13. Not bad for a delivery to Canada. This is what I call great customer service. I installed it, and it is working great.
The soldered connection of the socket to the board has been broken, so there isn’t anything to really “slide” back on (I’m pretty sure it should look like so normally: https://guide-images.cdn.ifixit.com/igi/ZqIpbs5TijvwTdmf.huge )Well - I started into my upgrade, and when I got to removing the 2 cables from the power supply, I'm afraid that one of the cables pulled off of the power supply circuit board. I can't tell if it's something that can be slid back on, or whether I've caused a more severe issue. Before I make it worse, can anyone take a look at my images and tell me what I'm looking at? In the circuit board image, I'm holding the end that came off above the area it came from.
FYI - it does appear I can get a new power supply board from AliExpress if I need to. More time and money...but doable.
Thanks. And already determined that’s what’s needed. Looks like it needs a new socket for the plug connector on that side. The soldered connection of the socket to the board has been broken, so there isn’t anything to really “slide” back on (I’m pretty sure it should look like so normally: https://guide-images.cdn.ifixit.com/igi/ZqIpbs5TijvwTdmf.huge )
Probably time to see if a local electronics shop is willing to do some repair work for you. At least it doesn’t look like it would require the most delicate soldering work… 🤞
Best of luck!! The socket itself looks to still be attached to your cable —and ideally the internal pins stay connected within the socket sleeve when you release and disconnect the cable, rather than staying stuck within the cable— in which case you shouldn’t need to source an entirely new socket w/pins (unless it’s been damaged more than can be seen in your pics…)Thanks. I’ve already ordered a new power supply board but I may see if I can get the socket needed for this one and try to salvage. Oh well.
The socket pins definitely broke off. No luck sourcing the part number.Best of luck!! A few months ago another poster in this thread broke the same part in the same manner. I think he eventually took the Studio back to Apple to quote for a PSU replacement. This could have been done DIY by someone familiar with soldering though. The socket pins definitely broke off. No luck sourcing the part number.
Thanks, and yes, it would be simple for me to solder but only with a replacement socket, as the pins broke off, leaving a socket without pins connected to the cable. I’d have to remove what’s left of the existing pins and solder a new socket into place. If I could easily source the socket part number, I would go this route.A few months ago another poster in this thread broke the same part in the same manner. Great info! Thanks! I'm going to go this route.@cstolze Did you know you can get a genuine Apple replacement PSU for less than the AliExpress one ($131.12) if you return the faulty one after the repair? See https://selfservicerepair.com/en-US/mac-studio-2022/power-supply. Might be worth a look. I'm assuming you have 2022 Mac Studio but they have other models for a similar price. It also includes replacement bottom cover adhesive strips in the price.
Cancel your order and buy the AliSoft version. I got no response from Gilles on my order until I cancelled, then he responded quickly and graciously and refunded my order (took a couple of days to show on my CC). The AliSoft version came from China in a week.I paid my studio 8GB upgrade in october 2025. since then, two times they wrote me that my items are on stock. but no shipment. on their homepage they state that there are 86 orders in the queue, and every day they ship 15 parcels. so after 6 days the backorders should have been fixed. no reply from gilles ever. and i paid much more than the kickstarter price. they are so rude, on phone only a tape playing.
