UPS is full of bs. If you look at departure flight schedule from Incheon, the last cancelled UPS flight was on 9/16. So mechanical error and weather delay is some bs. All UPS flights left on schedule. I'm assuming the airport won't have a reason to say the flight departed when it actually didn't. So I'm guessing UPS is hiding something right now.

"Typhoon Malakas has hit southern Japan, bringing damaging winds and flooding rain.

Malakas made landfall on the island of Kyushu around 1400GMT on Monday. It struck as the equivalent of a Category 3 hurricane on the five point Saffir-Simpson scale. Sustained winds of up to 185 kilometres an hour were reported."

Thanks -- I was referring to Typhoon Lionrock (cited in the previous post).

"A Mechanical Failure" in my case... indeed! What the heck??

It's funny how many people think that the weather in Incheon matters. They're not teleporting cargo. It has to travel through areas with severe weather. This isn't rocket science.

An increasing number of customers who ordered the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus have noticed irregular movement on their shipments, as confirmed by multiple tipsters who have contacted us. The peculiar UPS tracking information has also been documented by several Twitter and Reddit users.

iPhone-7-UPS-tracking.jpg

MacRumors reader Daniel G., for example, has seemingly seen his iPhone 7 Plus order move between Shanghai, China and Anchorage, Alaska, only to end up back in China. The shipment even made a brief stop in Osaka, Japan, before heading to Louisville, Kentucky en route to Long Island City in Queens.Other MacRumors readers said likewise in discussion topics titled "My iPhone is on a travel adventure" and "Waiting for UPS."

Reddit user AlphaAnger, too, shared a nearly identical scenario:Twitter user Minton, who shared the UPS tracking information pictured above, has seen his iPhone order travel from Zhengzhou, China to Incheon, South Korea to Louisville, Kentucky, at which point it was seemingly sent back to Hong Kong. The entire movement took place within a span of just three days.
Minton is not alone, as several Twitter users have noticed similarly irregular movement on their iPhone orders this week.
In some cases, shipments have moved between the U.S. and Asia in only a few hours, which is unrealistic even when accounting for time zone differences. UPS has allegedly told some customers the irregular movement is related to paperwork, but weather and mechanical issues could also be involved.

Whatever the underlying reason may be, the issue appears to be slowing down iPhone deliveries for at least some customers in the United States. Some customers on Twitter have complained that their new iPhone is "stuck in Korea," while others have vented their frustrations towards UPS's customer service account.

You're right. Weather in Incheon isn't the only problem that could delay the flight. But seeing that every UPS flights from Incheon departed on time, I'm guessing weather is not the issue for our delay. This isn't rocket science.

All UPS flights out of ICN remain scheduled, unless someone has new(er) news...

Looking at UPS flights out of RKSI, it looks like a flight was missed this morning. It also looks like UPS added a flight that's set to go out tomorrow morning as a recovery flight to make up for the missed one. If you look at the usual flight times and patterns, UPS99 didn't fly this morning from Incheon. Tomorrow morning, both UPS6099 (which I suspect is the recovery flight) and UPS49 are both flying out of there within an hour of each other. Based on that, I think folks scheduled for the 23rd will end up getting their phones on Monday.

Somebody thinks all flights have the same destination.

No, not all flights have the same destination. But since we're talking about iphones stuck in Incheon, they do have the same departure point. Again, not a rocket science.

I think the point is more that weather along one destination path might be different than the weather along another. It might not be the weather at the destination that's the issue, but somewhere along the way.

Okay, let's put the weather and mechanical issue aside for a minute. Whatever the reason for the delay is, a bunch of our phones are stuck in Incheon right? But no UPS flights were delayed/cancelled since the 16th. That's why I'm wondering why it's still stuck in Incheon.

Mine arrived yesterday. Ordered at 12:09, told Sep 16, ATT delayed required reservation. After sorting that out and being told by Apple a phone was reserved, got delivery 27-29th.

Then shipped early.

Factory to
ZZ China
Sat for 3 days there, then to
Incheon to
Anchorage to
Louisville
Imported 3 times according to UPS in Louisville.
Told of a delay in Louisville
Shipped next morning to Sylmar somehow (the plane must have taxied there from Burbank) then out for delivery same morning and delivered
Noon September 21, 5 days late or 6 days early.

Because Apple messed up on reserving a launch day phone and had me on hold for 3 hours, they paid for my leather case. I didn't ask them to. They also gave be a limited use coupon for certain overpriced products from the online store.

I just got an update saying my 7+ is delayed due to "severe weather". UPS originally said it would be delivered yesterday, then today, now unknown.
When it shipped, Apple gave me a Friday delivery estimate but I'm losing hope in getting it by tomorrow
Obviously u wont get it tomorrow. You're still starting to lose hope?

Count me amongst the unlucky. Mine says mechanical delay. Total BS. Was scheduled to deliver 9/23 then 9/26 now god knows when.

The most recent flight that was supposed to leave on 9/22 at 9:55 PM Korean local time has not left yet, or at least doesn't show it has left. It's currently 9/23 8:13 AM as I write this so about 10 1/2 hours with no record of it leaving, so mechanical or weather (depending on which tracking number you check, mine says weather) could potentially be legitimate.
