I finally got my iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air, and Apple Watch Ultra 3 at 5:50 PM CDT. They had been out for delivery since early morning, and UPS Follow My Delivery had shown the truck coming as close as one block away around 11:30 AM. The driver who delivered my devices told me that the initial driver had so many deliveries scheduled that UPS had offloaded my deliveries and some others to him around 4 PM. Definitely the first time I ever had that happen!

Soo.. My pickup was scheduled for tomorrow 12:00-12:15pm and I got the ready for pickup status/email around 6pm.

Since the store closed at 8pm I decided to drive there and try to get it today.

When I arrived at the store I opened the Apple Store App and it recognized that I was at the store and it showed that I had an item to pickup. I clicked on Pickup now and it showed me a different QR code without my original appointment info. So I just got in line and had no issues getting my iPhone. No one asked what time was my appointment so I also didn’t mention it lol

I’m only positing now because I had to return my phone due to the IUP and it took me 2 hours there to get everything ready on the new one and wipe/return the old one.

I LOVED the color. For me the orange is the best one. The black air is insane and really pretty but the one camera is a problem for me. Anyway very happy with my choice and that I was able to get it on lunch day 🎉

Good luck everyone!

Sort of a random question but has anyone’s 17PM rebooted on them in their pocket? Can’t seem to recreate the issue when I put my phone on my desk but my phone has rebooted (three times now) when I lock the phone and put it in my pocket…

Today went mostly smooth. I was able to pick up my phone and case quickly. I did the trade-in in store, from a 16 Pro Max to this phone. I did a very current iCloud backup at the store, set up the new phone, and left before it finished restoring (it was like 130 GB's to download).

After restoring was complete at home, none of my text messages in iMessage showed up 😢 (I do not have "Messages in iCloud" toggled on).

The weird thing is in iPhone Storage, it says Messages has 8.3 GB taking up space. It has Review Large Attachments (showing GB's to save by deleting), but when I click it, there's nothing there.

I hope they show up in the next few days or something.

I think I am doing ISPU next year as well, all my stuff got delivered pretty late in the day. The closest Apple Store is three hours away but I would make a day of it or stay close to there and then do the pick up and head back. However next time I might use phone to phone transfer or so, right now the iCloud backup restore had been running for 45 minutes with ETA of 16 hours? lol not sure what is going on with that ( 70-80 gb ) could have sworn it downloads a decent amount and then lets you use the phone while everything loads . EDIT: It will be about 30 minutes before phone is operational lol

ISPU was quick for this release. My pick up time was 1:45 and I arrived at 1:30. There were no lines. I asked if it it’s ok if I can get mine early and she was fine with it. I was in and out in less than 15mins.

Totally worth it if you can do it.

My wife’s iPhone 17 was dead on arrival. When attempting to start it up, it showed the restore icon. Attempts to restore failed. Apple senior techs did not have the option to replace it, so they escalated to a sales supervisor to try to expedite a swap via UPS since the closest store is hours away. The supervisor said delivery would be scheduled October 13 or later, which she said was absurd under the circumstances. She escalated it to her leadership team to authorize it to be expedited but added that we probably would not hear back until Tuesday about it.

I’d check with Apple as with messages not backed up in iCloud the fact that they didn’t transfer might be by design. You might have to do an iTunes transfer for example.
