There's no magnet holding the cover against the iPad and it doesn't close flush against the iPad's screen because the legs sit slightly atop the back cover instead of folding completely into the cover.

For the price the cover should have been better designed. I do think it is a beautiful case and was planning on ordering one regardless of the price; however, I really don't need the kick stands and I love my Piel Frama case.

Could you post a pic of the case from the side to show how the cover sits on the iPad?

Here you go. I don't disagree at all. If they'd offered it without the legs, I'd have ordered that instead. The limit straps are a classy and practical touch, though, so I can set it on an airplane tray to watch a movie or check mail.

Not as bad I imagined. Glad you posted pics. I would have been worried.

Thanks for the review and pics.

I used to own a Vaja case for a Palm Pilot and the case was still in almost new condition long after the Palm bit the dust.

Vaja does beautiful work!!

Thanks!!

Thanks for the photos. I also have one on order (about 2 prices ago), and like the design even more after seeing yours. I was really afraid that the support flaps were just "loose" based on the photos at Vaja, but adding the fabric straps was a great idea. Now to just wait . . .

It is a shame that they could not keep the price at $200, they may have sold more of them.

I wonder if the Mamut and Leather Agenda are really selling that well or they're such a disorganized outfit that they can't handle the increase in sales - not like they're new to making cases for Apple.

60 days lead time I can accept is due to increased orders - not all the cows are the right age for slaughtering and tanning :) but $200 to $230 and now $280! Vaja is trying to find the breaking point for aspirational consumers.

frustration but it's not Vaja's fault.. It seems that Vaja shipped my case 25 days out and not 35 days as they said it would be. Good news. FedEx tracking said it would be here Wed before 10:30am more good news. However they attempted to deliver it today, Monday. I wasn't there to sign for it so the driver left a door tag, looks like maybe tomorrow, Tuesday will be the day.

It would be great if you guys could post pics of the different colors and whatnot for those who just dream of buying one someday

If anyone receives theirs and decides they do not want it shoot me a PM. Depending on the color I may take it off your hands.. :D

While i'm waiting for my Vaja. . .

. . . the Apple case is not that bad!

PS: Black with Friar Brown trim on order . . .

Personally, I think their pricing is out of control. Its not like they raise their own cows and cut the hide. As long as there are people paying top dollars for it, they will keep raising their prices. I'm not saying their products aren't good, but at a certain point, the diminishing returns become too steep to show any benefits. They must be grinning behind doors saying "gee, at what price point would we need to raise for these people to say I'm not gonna buy cause its too much". What happens when the next generation ipad comes out with a cam or there is a slight physical change to the device itself?

Its because of the reason above that I'm not willing to invest so heavily on any one piece of accessory when companies are churning out sucessors at least once a year. So if and when you do device to sell your ver 1 for ver 2, you will take a huge loss with the case IF it isn't compatible with the next ipad ver 2.

Im pretty sure that I speak for most of us who have ordered one of these cases, we did not do so hoping for any sort of return on the investment.

Personally, I wanted a really nice case and at the time had more money then common sense. I did however get it shipped for under 200 back when the coupon worked and the price was lower.

At over $200 Im out...

Invest? Are you kidding? You don't invest in a gadget protector :D

Vaja is trying to position themselves as a luxury brand, the kind of brand where if you have to ask you can't afford it.

...ordered mine on May 12 with estimate of 35 days... now sitting at 43 days without a peep... oh well. Can't wait to smell the leather. The first Vaja product I bought took forever but it was worth it.

Anybody in the market for a iPod Nano 2G flip case in cognac brown?

I placed my order on the 24th of May. Tues I emailed them and she told me another 15 days, so yours should be right around the corner...

In my experience with vaja...light colors will fade. So enjoy the new look cause over the course of a year it will look different.

If you are sticking with black...never had an issue with fade. Just scuffing.

BTW my 25 day case took them over 50 days! With the new iphone 4 I would expect delays from vaja!
