The recent 'patch' to Portal (discussed here) is quite a good marketing concept chock full of easter eggs and teasers on Portal 2 as well as one hint about a Mac port too.As teaser campaigns go, that one's genius. I hope the product will live up to the good will that this is all generating.

It's a great game and I find the possibility of working for cake on my Mac exciting.![]()
I also hope it's not some direct port via Cider but a native rewrite.
Guys, it's a bit funny that no one here so far was linking the news about Valve with the upcoming SL 10.6.3
As reported Apple was adding tons of OpenGL enhancements to the beta of the next release. And only now, together with the rumor about valve games coming to the mac, that really gains importance.
My guess is that 10.6.3 will be minimum requirement for Stream on Mac.
For my part i had the original HL and Counterstrike games, but would re-buy them if they are going to work on my MacBook.
and it looks like their marketing campaign is having a ton of fun with it too. i think steam would do well on the mac - lots of mac users love their machines but sit around and wonder what else to do with them. enter valve, their great library, and you've got a ton of happy campers on both sides. As teaser campaigns go, that one's genius. Holy Hell, this is wonderful. But what's with all the "I hope I don't have to buy the game again?" I'm pretty sure you will have to (and I for one will do it gladly). If a game came out for the PS3, would you expect to get it free because you already have it for the 360?

That is a completely ludicrous analogy. Steam is a cloud-based service. You can actually install those games on a dozen computers, but only under your account. You cannot do anything remotely close to that with different brands of consoles. Since everything is stored in the cloud, I could log into my Steam account on OS X and Valve would immediately know who I am and what games I've already purchased.Holy Hell, this is wonderful. Apple...watch and learn.
Customers like teasers a lot more than the secretive crap you like to pull.
Give us the damn specs on the new Mac's & MacBooks.

The Mac serial for Battlefield 1942 also happens to work for the Windows version as well. The binaries may be different but the serial key system isn't.It's not such a strange question. Telltale Games have recently released their latest Monkey Island game for the Mac. And guess what? People who already bought the PC version automatically have a license for the Mac version as well. You can download and unlock it for free if you already bought it for the PC.
