I didn't really enjoy the indian dancing bits, ive seen that stuff in Colorado too much. I did like the whales on the floor though, that was pretty amazing looking even on tv.

My favourite thing about the olympics is watching all the sports I'd otherwise not care about. Only problem is that CTV is doing olympic coverage 22 hours out of 24 hours a day so looks like I can't leave the TV without missing something. I need to accept I can't watch everything :)

My favorite part is the Medal awards.

I don't think you can watch everything live anyway, there's too much simultaneous content. The thing about this and the summer one was that they have all the recording online. They don't all have commentators but sometimes you get like a little text thing that tells you what's going on.

Yeah it's great that it's all online (and in great quality too!). CTV has really stepped up.

You don't think the ceremonies will be live on TV? I really hope they are, that'd be amazing. But I think you're right :(

Does CTV use Silverlight too? NBC uses a Silverlight player and they put like markers on the video that tell you where each competitor was up.

The smooth streaming is cool too, it adapts to your bandwidth. Not like YouTube where you have select from multiple feedrates.

All of the footage is a raw olympic feed that they send to the networks. The only thing each network adds is announcers.

The next 2 weeks are going to be tough! So much to watch...and also so much to read, now that all last week's classes need to be rescheduled due to last week's weather cancellations.

I see a lot of good hockey games scheduled! :)

That Hockey game is pretty boring. That SVK team sucks. They don't know how to play. They always get freaked out and gang up on someone in the back of their goal and leave some CAD chicks wide open for a shot.

The Canadian Women's hockey team won 18-0. That beat their record of a 16-0 win over Italy when the games were in Turin.

The big difference is that Italy automatically qualified for the tourny because they were the host country. SVK actually had to qualify for this tourny. That makes the record more significant.

It was nice to see the women not celebrate each goal when the game got out of control. Classy.

The reason they keep playing and trying to score (as opposed to a mercy rule or them letting up and not trying to score) is because in the case of ties (in terms of W/L records), the tie goes to the team with the most goals.

Oh man... so disappointed. Jenn Heil gets silver tonight :( Obviously congratulations to her, but even she looked really disappointed.

The longer this gold drought goes on the harder it will be.

The super-slow motion video of the blades carving the ice in short track speed skating that they showed tonight on NBC was really cool.....

I wanted to share a pic of the gift my friend gave me today:D

I didn't watch the game...are the Slovaks really bad or are the Canadians just really good? Because 18-0 is a huge win, I just can't imagine how bad a team has to be to lose with that score.

I'm sure that the Slovak team has some skills, but the Canadian and the American Women's hockey teams are just so much better than the rest of the teams. The final will be between those two teams.

I've seen Team USA play China in Women's Hockey, as well as USA/Canada. And the level of the programs from USA/Canada steps down to SWE/NOR/FIN, and then down again, and down again, etc.

But these programs have to start somewhere. I helped coach a college team against the women's team from Iowa State. They sent 7 players and kicked our butt around the rink. But our program was kind of in year 2. Barely. ISU gets awesome players, and has a lot of good competition. Our team, not so much. But they tried hard, played to or even above their level. But we didn't have the depth or experience to hang with them.

China and Slovakia are building, and may some day be excellent. But they still have to try. They got a beating today, but they got international travel, and a big spotlight. That's experience you can't get at home.

I caught the moguls runs, and that was great. I watched the ski jumping this morning as well as the 5000m speed skating. I love all of this stuff.

I agree. The international experience does wonders for the progression of those programs. As much as it must have sucked to lose by a score like that, I'm sure none of them would have traded that experience for anything.

Hopefully one day the women's tourny will be as competitive as the men's tourny......

Haha, cute! :D

I kind of wish I had planned to work in canada this spring instead of summer. I bet the bars would be awesome with the olympics going on right now. :D

It's crazy down here. But I'm not sure what's weirder... the lack of cars or the increase of people!

Slovakians are AMAZING. :p Proof:

The end of the 1500m speed skating was crazy!

Koreans took themselves out so the USA got silver and bronze. :)
