EDIT: Well, it didn't work. I think that if I was in Canada and I wanted to access a blocked US site (like Hulu), it would work. But it doesn't work in the US to access blocked Canadian sites. I think it assigns a US based IP (that's why it would let you watch hulu), so it wouldn't make a difference for me. Thanks for the suggestion though.:)

Good point! I didn't even think of that.

Have you tried Canadian proxy sites?

No, I haven't. I'm going to look into it tonight. I'm new to trying this stuff, so any advice you want to lend would be appreciated......

:D

I haven't really tried a Canadian one. But in theory it should work. Problem is I don't think the stream will be fast enough to watch the HD video that CTV is spewing out.

Overall awesome day... The snowboard cross was super fun to watch and Canada managed to get Silver (United States squeeze by to get Gold). The alpine was very disappointing for team Canada but pretty fun to watch. The amazing robots, I mean Chinese pairs, destroyed the competition in pair figure skating with nearly flawless routines.

Updated Medal Count - Day 5

United States still dominating!

Because when Jaro65 was King in another life...
And the jester didn't amuse him...
OFF with his head!

What?! Such insolence! You shall pay for it, peasant.

See my photo from just a few months ago. Now hang it above your fireplace and pay proper respect to your King!

And surely Surely is gonna get it too!

:D

Congratulations Maelle Ricker for winning Canada's second gold medal! Great Snowboard cross event! Cypress has given us 4 out of our 5 medals so far... and who says weather is a problem :)

Snowboard Cross is pretty cool. I'm watching the replay of the women's event. I'll be able to see Maelle Ricker win her Gold.....

A good game by the Canadian Men's Hockey Team (I had to PVR it and watch it this evening). Of course, Canada dominated. Just wait until they get used to playing with each other.......

Once I'm done with my last exam on Monday, it's all Olympics all the time for me...... I'll be able to watch everything live finally......

Well Norway were never expected to threaten.

I think Russia with Ovechkin will be nigh unstoppable. I hope Canada doesn't meet them till the Final. :)

I watched the Canada-Norway game and there were some potential signs of greatness on behalf of Canadian team. I think they could do really well.

I only got to watch the last period of Russia-Latvia game, and you're right: Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Malkin, etc. make it a strong team. Will be fun....

All I really care about is who wins the most glorious gold. I'm not as interested in so so silver and shameful bronze.;)

Not that I care who wins what I find bizarre is that the table posted seems to rank medals by quantity the U.S.,France and Canada being ranked above Switzerland and South Korea both of who have three gold medals, the BBC certainly doesn't use that type of table,I'm guessing it's either a U.S. or Canadian media company.

Gold - 3 points
Silver - 2 points
Bronze - 1 point

The rankings should be based on points, not 'medal count'.

10 bronze > 9 gold ---- not fair
1 gold > 10 bronze ---- not fair

I can't wait to watch Steve Holcomb compete for the bobsled gold next week! He is a true hero, having to overcome blindness! The procedure he had to undergo, C3-R performed by Dr. Boxer Wachler, fortunately restored his sight but sounded painful...

I have no idea what the deal is with curling, but these girls from Denmark are hot.

Have a thing for blondes, eh? ;)

I think they are just trying to put a stone as close as possible to the target thing. Like darts. Ecept they can guide it by making it go faster and curve it with the release and the brooms and also knock eachother out. It looks like at the end the "defense" can make the stone faster and pass the target if goes past a point.

Yes, that's a pretty good description.

The more of your stones that are closer to the centre at the end of each round, the more points you get. You start counting points from the stone closest to the centre, and then you add up the number of stones from the same team that are next. If one of the opponents stones is there, then you don't get any points for your stones that are further than that one.

For example: in the photo below, the red team only gets 1 point. If that yellow stone that is in the red area wasn't there, the red team would get 2 points.

The brooming melts the ice, which makes the ice faster in the broomed area, so the stone can be sped up and redirected.

It's a really fun sport to play. I wish it was a more accessible sport to get involved in around here....

Holy crap! The Canadian Men's Hockey Team had a bit of a scare tonight, eh? Jonas Hiller almost stole a game....... good on Sid the Kid.......

I love curling because it's pretty strategic. But I'm really mad Jennifer Jones didn't make the women's team. I love her! ;)
