I ordered 2 black 32s on Friday at 3pm pst and got tracking numbers stating delivery by 14th.

This method, AFAIK, is best used if you called telesales to order your phone. I haven't been able to verify it for orders placed online. Then again, you can just go to Verizon's website for tracking information, right?



1. After receiving an e-mail confirmation from Verizon about your order, note these two numbers:

Location
Order

2. Go to www.fedex.com/us/ and place your mouse cursor over 'Track', which is under 'Package/Envelope' and to the right of 'Ship' toward the top of the page. 5 options should pop up, but the one that you want is 'Track by Reference'. (Or you can just click here and go straight to the track by reference page )

3. Under 'Enter reference information' you'll see Account number, Reference, Ship date, Destination country, and Destination postal code. You can leave the 'Account number' field blank. Under 'Reference', type in the Location number you noted earlier, place an underscore '(_)' after that number, then type up the order number right after it. It should all be grouped together, with no spaces. (Example: 1530701_837590287).

You can then leave the 'ship date' alone as it should be displaying today's date and will look for anything shipped +/- 15 days from that day.

'Destination country' is self-explanatory and 'Destination postal code' will be where you are having the package shipped to. Not the bill-to ZIP code.

4. Click 'Track' and you should be set!

So if by doing this you dont see anything, sounds like the phones arent ready to ship just yet.

Tried that and it didn't work for me. I expect to see shipping notifications/tracking numbers come tomorrow though.

Thats my guess too...I think that they ship them overnight and we get tracking numbers overnight through tomorrow. Based on rumors going around this site, i bet that they are being shipped from within US from verizon warehouses, and based on how close you are in location to the warehouses, you may get lucky and get one on thursday but most of us get them on friday for launch day.

Hopefully it gets here on Thursday! If it gets here to late on Friday I might not get it. I go to a military college and all our packages from fedex, ups, etc go through "central supply" where they are held till we come pick them up. And this weekend, including Friday, is a huge weekend at school so if it gets there in the afternoon on Friday I might not have time to go pick it up which means I would have to wait till Monday since it is closed on the weekend. Oh man if I get it on Monday I'm not going to be paying attention at all in class...
 
I initially ordered a black 16gb on 10/7 at 9am and it said 10/14 ship date. I ended up changing my mind, so I called to get that order cancelled and ordered a black 32gb on 10/7 at about 6:50pm. Initially it said that I would receive it on 10/21 (I was mad), but today I checked my order status and it shows delivery of 10/14 and my CC has a pending charge on it from them. Can't wait til Friday!!

I'm the person who ordered on Saturday again but yeah my delivery date was the 21st and now it says my shipping date is the 21st and when I asked VZWsupport on twitter, I got this:

yea.. I can't log on either.... I just ordered yesterday... duh.. tried to order through apple.. and you can't set up a family plan on apple... asked a rep and she said "you have to go into the store" to set one up..

then yesterday I thought.. oh duh.. I'll just do it through Verizon... easy as pie (sure wish Apple had told me that on release date!)

But I wanted to see when our estimate was... I think originally it was 21st...

would like to see it though!

Just got off the phone with a superior in the Internet Sales Dept named Michelle. After threatening to switch my rather extensive business account to a different carrier if I wasn't served to the fullest extent as I do for my customers in my business; I FINALLY GOT A LEGIT ANSWER IT SEEMS.

If you were ever told in your preorder process that your phone would be delivered to you by the 14th then it WILL BE DELIVERED BY THE 14th. The representative was able to explain that the system that is used to track orders is't valid for a preorder, because they dont actually have a real phone to attach the invoice to. She went on to inform me that plenty of people are seeing the 21st date simply because the computer system isn't kept current with all preorder info until it becomes real.

The superior reassured me that if the site said you would be getting delivery on the 14th, then you will, as the site was set to cut preorders for whatever model's initial stock purchased by Verizon was TOTALLY promised out.


I hope this is a realistic answer. :confused:
 
Did anyone order a 16 gb on or before 11pm on the 7th and is getting a delivery/ship date of 10/14?
 
I ordered on the 7th @ 10pm or so. It is still saying, "Expected ship date on Oct 14th" and " We received your order and its in process". No pending charge on card either. So I guess that will be a no on Friday delivery?

I'm showing the exact same order status. Not sure if my card has been charged yet or not. I am really hoping that they we receive them by friday. I don't understand why it would say 10/14 if we weren't intended to receive them by that date.

Not necessarily. What did your email say? From whats been gathered it appears that the email is correct. The tracking system is not real time so don't fret over it. If nothing happens tomorrow, i.e. your card doesn't get charged, than you will probably have to wait till the 21st.
Yeah nothing new it pops up for some people for a little.
 
i had the same problem and called and changed cards and the charge went through,i asked if i would still get it on the 14th and the rep said yes that since we had ordered right when they started taking preorders that our place in line is held,and i got an email right after that that said order has been completed and is in the process of shipping,but the order status page says we have received your order in process payment has been taken expected ship date 10/21,but my payment has been taken,maybe everything hasn't updated in the system yet,but she told me i would still get it on the 14th,i hope everything goes ok

THANK YOU! and thank you to whoever posted the number above. I called the number, and it was the card that was the problem (when the CSR from when I called earlier today told me it WASNT the problem). We charged a new card and he said the system is messed up, and that the 21st date that it got changed to is wrong and would still ship on the 14th.
 
IMPORTANT:
I received an email earlier today that my order was "on hold". just called customer service and the lady said that my debit card was rejected the first payment attempt, then 5 hours later the second payment attempt was accepted. my status still says
Order Status:We received your order and it is in process. Payment not taken yet.
Expected Ship Date:10/21/2011
But, she assured me that her computer said it has been processed, the payment was accepted, and is ready to be shipped. Then I told her my debit account shows no $225 charge. She said that most orders will not be charged until Friday, which contradicts earlier posts by other users who say that they have been charged.
Overall, if you're in the same situation as me, we will most likely receive our phones Friday, according to the Verizon lady.

So, the e-mail confirmation may not be a viable indicator of a delivery date if you ordered between those above-listed times.

Wow that must have been quite a few cancellations! No I don't think we can go solely by the email either but if the email said 14 and now the tracking thing says 21 I believe most likely you will get it on Friday.

This is my first time preordering an Apple product and I'm not going to lie, the suspense and anticipation is actually really fun!
 
I finished my Verizon Preorder (16g white, 16g black) at 3:04 on the on sale date. The initial e-mail I received says shipped to arrive on 10/14, but when I go to track my package it says shipping on 10/14. I called, they explained they overnight it on 10/14, and i'll receive it on Monday, 10/17. So glad I woke up at 3am for a preorder.... :rolleyes::rolleyes:

orderstatus set at 10/21 all weekend BUT

called online support number someone mentioned above and they said my credit card was charged at 5pm today, it will ship wednesday via fedex 2 day and will arrive here in KC, MO on Friday!

that 10/21 info turned out to be complete bogus as I'm getting it on 10/14
