Verizon 4S Preorder Status Thread

It is approximately the amount of the iphone and another purchase (which isn't showing either) I made yesterday. So, yeah, like I said, I am hopeful.
If you placed your order at 11pm on Friday, regardless of your timezone, I'll assume you're past the 7pm EDT deadline Verizon said they put in place. So, yeah, they've already said multiple times those won't arrive by October 14th.
Having been through this many times (as have many others on this forum), I have learned one simple truth: It is the vendor's goal (Apple, AT&T, Verizon, etc.) to get all these in peoples hands by 10/14, as promised. In order to do this, they frequently make special arrangements with Fedex to achieve that goal. The problem is that the reps (at Verizon, Fedex, etc.) don't all realize that and give the answer they are programmed to.
So, most will get the phone on Friday as promised. Some won't because of screwups inherent in any operation this large (they sold 1 million phones).

Verizon rep was useless; told me that "they weren't charging until they shipped" and that "it wasn't showing a tracking number so it hasn't shipped yet." No emails about holds, and the money is definitely out of the bank account so I don't know what to think. Might have to talk to a supervisor tomorrow.

exactly, there is no way Verizon or Apple are going to let phones get out late. Regardless of who's fault it is, it would be a PR nightmare for both companies. They both have the means, expertise and history to get this done right.
Ordered 2 16gb (1 white & 1 black) on verizon site Saturday morning around 10am. I received order confirmation email with delivery by 10/21.
Missed out on first batch of phones, which I really don't care.

so if my account was charged within the past 3 hours for my iphone.. (it said $0.00 for a while and is now 427.99).. does that mean i'll get it ON friday or that it will ship on friday and come monday?i'm on a business account but the status was recently changed to COMPLETED

VZW stated that my order will be shipped out with the first batch of iPhones on Friday, because of several order cancellations, my order was bumped up to 10/14. The point being of my post was to show everyone that VZW is now saying that the phones will not be shipped BEFORE 10/14 for delivery on 10/14, but shipped on 10/14. Apple is apparently forbidding shipments prior to 10/14, the release date.
I doubt they would go through all the efforts to change their order status system from "ship by 10/14" to "deliver by 10/14"... at least that's the change I'm seeing on my order status page.
I would definitely just give them a call for your peace of mind, so you don't have to wonder, but I would have to assume that they are planning on shipping your phone for friday, rather than 10/21. VZW said that their pre-order status page is messed up and depicting incorrect dates, including some that are listed to ship on 10/21, like yours which are actually intended to ship (or deliver) 10/14. Hope this helps.

It's Murphy's fault. I specifically ordered from Verizon since Apple shipped me my iPhone 4 later than Verizon did. Ergo, Verizon will ship last this time.

They're charging our cards today, Tuesday. Friday is four days from now; they don't charge you for something that ships that far out based on their own rules. They charge when they ship; most likely to ship no later than Thursday (they supposedly have a 48 hour rule on pre-order card charges).
Additionally, when they say they're forbidding shipments, that means they're forbidding the shipments from arriving. The couriers allow you to specify a "do not deliver before" date if you're big enough for them to justify it (assuming they don't allow it at any level). That's most likely what the rep is referring to.
Either way, we'll see.

Thanks for the information, believe me I hope you are correct, and that the person I spoke with at Verizon is wrong. I just wanted to make sure you understood what I was trying to say and that the VZW agent said this.
