Will the link to pre-order just appear on the Verizon homepage when the time comes?

Not sure about another other than "upgrading a phone" but they said to use the upgrade function on My Verizon (upgrade just being switching out phones in general from there you can select how you are paying etc). not sure if the info is correct.

Where can I find more info (other than WSJ article) on the latest trade-in to upgrade offers from Verizon? The WSJ article says Verizon will offer $300 for my 5s, but I'm not sure if that is something I lock in tonight or have to visit a Verizon store about? Pretty sure they would want to see your working trade-in....

Have you tried: http://www.verizonwireless.com/landingpages/device-trade-in/ to see what it says there?

To the left hand side of the trade-in appraisal info is the following offer, but no links/urls to click to act on....

Trade in your phone.
Buy a new one. Get $300
New device payment, activation and port-in req'd $300 = $200 trade-in VZW gift card + $100 bill credit (applied within 2-3 billing cycles). Trade-in must be in good working condition.

Depends on the memory, but the standard 5s models are going for $200

correction: There is the 100 billing credit too so overall it is $300

I feel like I'm way less knowledgeable about the different plans so maybe it's not even an option for everyone but I'm ordering through Verizon because of the $25 bill credit for switching to the payment plan. So even if I pay about $35/month for a 6s+ then that's really only a $10 increase on my bill. There's nothing telling me that I would get that bill credit if I buy through the Apple payment plan.

There's also the fact that Verizon released the offer to pay me $300 for my 5s as trade-in. That's a pretty awesome deal considering I bought it under subsidy for $199

I just did an online chat with a sales rep, and she insisted that the $25 dollar discount didn't exist.

I currently get 25 off my line access fee for being out of contract. I really think she was mistaken.

This is the problem - even the verizon reps are totally confused.

I hear you there. I talked to someone last week about getting an early upgrade and he said I could switch with someone else and that it would be a simple process of switching the two dates. Checked that was okay with my brother, got back on today and she acted like I was crazy, saying I would have order on the other line and activate on mine. Got frustrated because I couldn't understand her grammar and disconnected. When I got on with someone else she said the same as the second person but that I would also have to call Verizon to switch the device agreement to my line. Then out of nowhere she says I can switch the upgrade online myself and to ignore her previous info.

It's all so ridiculous. The first guy seemed to be the most knowledgeable and knew what was happening so I'm trying to remain confident in his info. My guess is that you get a $25 bill credit if you switch to device payment only if you're coming off a contract. A bill credit for remaining off contract rather than a bill credit for starting the device payment plan. So if you already have the discount for being off contract then there would not be another one for starting a device payment plan. But who knows? (not even Verizon, apparently)

Also see this now on the main Verizon iPhone 6s page if you scroll right:

Get up to
$400

When you switch and trade in your phone and buy a new one.
New device payment activation & port-in req’d. $400=$300 trade-in VZW gift card + $100 bill credit. Bill credit applied w/in 2-3 billing cycles. Trade-in must be in good working condition.

Right now that is saying mine is worth $200 rather than $300 so I'm assuming it's something that has to be done more directly with the new purchase. I'm just not sure if we can pre-order at midnight and then visit a store later, after the phone arrives.
Just need to add in the 100 billing credit for $300

I'm going into this assuming the current 25 discount for being off contract will continue even with the device payment plan, either it discounts your line access fee or the actual monthly phone payment. Thats what I was told in person by a rep yesterday, but he also gave me some absurd information regarding the device payment plan so I don't know who/what to trust.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but will the new iPhones show up under the "upgrade" tap tonight? When I log into my account it says I'm eligible for an upgrade, but I haven't clicked through it to see the phones.

Can I just put the phone in my cart and pick upgrade or something?

I've only been with Verizon for two years, and last year I just opened a new line, so not sure how upgrades work.

The iPhone 6s will be available to add to your cart at 12 midnight PST.

I've just waited until it's shown up on Verizon's home page because their pre-order system is usually different from their standard order page. That's how I did it with my iPhone 4 (doesn't seem like almost 5 years ago when Verizon got the iPhone for the first time!) and my 6 Plus. Unless something is new this year, or someone has found a faster way, I plan to do it the same way.

Ordering 2 iPhone 6s Pluses tonight, one for my father and one for me. First time doing the Payment Plan so I hope it goes smoothly. Funny enough, we're both getting the same phone and are both eligible for upgrades so this should (hopefully, knock on wood) go smoothly. Been Verizon customers since they were PacTel in the early 1990's, predating Airtouch and the Verizon names and see no need to change carriers now.

I think you're referring to this new Verizon deal that is mentioned here: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/veriz...trade-in-offer-for-old-iphones-173115526.html

If so, I'd love more details too. It's really unclear if it works with pre-orders or if you have to go in store to do the trade-in at the same time you purchase the new phone.

I found a thread about it on Slickdeals but it's the word of a single Verizon rep so you know how that goes...

"Hey everyone,

Just confirmed with a Verizon in-store employee and also someone on the phone. The employee in the store claimed he just got an email about this promo this afternoon.

Starting on 9/12 (midnight), the trade-in value of your old iPhone increases when you buy an iPhone 6s. My iPhone 5 32GB is currently only appraised for $110 on Verizon's website, but that should change come midnight.

iPhone 5 - $200
iPhone 5s - $300
iPhone 6 - ?

Best part is you keep your existing phone and only turn it in once you get your new iPhone. The credit is distributed in either a Verizon gift card or credit. I was told the trade-in process has to be done when you preorder."

Verizon now has a news release online that mentions the deal. Here's the relevant text:

Beginning September 12, you can get a trade-in value of $100 for an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s, $200 for an iPhone 5 or iPhone 5c, $300 for an iPhone 5s, $350 for an iPhone 6 and $400 for an iPhone 6 Plus when purchasing a new iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus. Your trade-in must be in good working condition – and trade-in value is provided through a Verizon gift card. This trade-in promotion is available through October 15.

Only at Verizon company stores, you’ll receive an immediate credit when you trade-in and purchase a new iPhone. You can apply that gift card immediately as a down payment towards your new iPhone to reduce your monthly payment amount. For example, a customer who purchased iPhone 5s two years ago can trade it in for $300, apply that as their down payment, and reduce their monthly payment for a new iPhone 6s to less than $15 a month for 24 months. Not with Verizon and thinking about making the switch? New customers who join Verizon can get a $100 bill credit for any new smartphone activated. The credit will be applied within 3 billing cycles.

So I assume to get that deal you have to pre-order on the Verizon site and not through Apple?

So... you have to purchase within the store. That's a bummer.
The way I interpret it is that you have to purchase in the store to receive an immediate credit that can be used to knock down your monthly payments. But if you order online your only option is a gift card (which you can then use to pay your monthly bills).

But it is kind of confusing.

I guess I can look at the options when I actually order but I don't really want to try and figure something out when I want to just hurry and get the order in.

Can you guys tell me what information is suppose to be pre loaded in the get ready for pre order screen? It has my phone number, but I have to enter in my zip code and last 4 of my social every time I go into the app. I don't want to waste precious time entering in information if I don't have to. Also, I'd like to change the number thats pre loaded since my number isn't ready for an upgrade and Apple's system doesn't let you take an upgrade from a different line.

Just a heads up to anyone who is planning on upgrading through VZW tonight at midnight and is on a business account. You are not eligible for the new device payment plan and must sign a new two year contract and pay the full subsidized amount. That means the $40 upgrade fee, too. In a way I'm relieved. Now I can finally get away from Verizon Wireless.
