I live in an apartment in Boston so the entrance to the building has two locked doors with the mailboxes in between. Hopefully they end up coming while I'm home and I can spot them through the window. Otherwise, I have a feeling it's going to take a few attempts or me ultimately picking it up at the facility.
It'd be great if anyone could confirm whether we can request pick up right away so that I don't have to deal with all that .

I would recommend calling fed ex, but my experience with UPS is as such. They make a delivery attempt and leave a door tag. That tag will have a unique number and you call the 800 number and make your options from there. YMMV
So I was curious this morning so I clicked on "Check your order status" in my order confirmation email and it now says Expected Delivery Date 9/25. Yesterday that read Shipped by 9/25. So now that matches what is on the front of the confirmation email where it says Order Summary and reads Delivered by 9/25. So Verizon now shows both as Delivered by 9/25 so I feel better now. Obviously the tracking email will be the true confirmation but this was good news nonetheless.
Ok the last two posts caused me to check my order status and I notices something very odd.
First of all here's my info: 64GB Space Grey 6s, ordered in the verizon store on 9/16.
When I check my order by entering the confirmation number on vzw.com/orderstatus with a browser that has not signed into my verizon account I get the info: EXPECTED DELIVERY DATE 09/25/2015
If I check my order status by signing into my account on vzw.com and clicking on the confirmation number under the notifications heading I get no shipping or delivery info.
If I go to vzw.com/orderstatus in a web browser that I am signed into my verizon account with it says IN-STORE PICKUP and lists the store that I ordered from.
Anyone experience something similar or have insight into why I'm getting inconsistent info?

I wish I had that option. I work from home, but will be traveling in the morning/afternoon on the 25th!
As a quick note though. I had another FedEx package that was being delivered today so last night I went in and (since I have the FedEx Delivery Manager set up - which is free by the way) I "customized the delivery" to test it out. I set the pick up location and this morning (around 9:00am) I received a text that my item was ready for pick up. I am not 100% sure that this is how it will work with the new phones, but I am going to call FedEx when I have a tracking number to see what I can do.
Rose Gold is the most popular color. I would try Space Grey for fastest delivery.
Considering I ordered only an hour and a half after they went up for pre-order and my delivery date is 10/07, I wouldn't be too optimistic. But I guess it's possible.
I lied. I ordered the Gold. The rose gold fastest delivery is 11/2! I guess I'll be patient. No choice anyway

A lot of people poo poo people being excited about this. You work hard to get it and it's a lot of money. You should be excited. No one was excited to get a new car or house?

Well in my experience maybe... i order the 6+ about a week after preorders opened last year and i got mine phone about a week earlier than they said. But a lot of the poeple who ordered right out of the gates got theirs up to a week after promised, so i'd say being later on delivery you might get it a bit early.
Who knows though, it wasn't like that for everyone.
Exactly I work hard all year and I enjoy the week or two of excitement that leads up to getting a new phone. Not to mention I work 50 or so weeks a year so that for 1 or two weeks I can be less productive, I think it is a good trade off.
Which is why I don't get all of the people that are so down on the excitement. I feel as though maybe they should just stay of the threads about the release and save everyone some annoyance.
I checked my date last night and it had changed from ship by 9/25 to deliver by 10/7. I checked this morning and it had changed again to deliver by 9/25, which is how it should be since I ordered in the first 5 minutes Saturday morning.
Verizon just charged my credit card for the CA sales tax on my order. Things are finally in motion!
