From Apple Support - Senior Advisor "...Activation Servers are overwhelmed ... there is a known issue with AT&T devices" I was not able to get any more information on what the known issue is.
Edit: It seems that when the Apple server can be reached the AT&T server may not be available, so it is a matter of getting thru to both at the same time. Ugg.

Got to the number confirmation screen, hit next and now just a spinning circle where the next was

Not even getting the error

No issues just put my old sim in the X, flawless

The AT&T guys have an identical thread going with the identical problem. Only common point is Apple.

If it was truly a problem with Apple I feel like we'd be seeing TMo and Sprint customers complaining, as well as much more uproar. We're talking hundreds of thousands of people getting this device today.

It's definitely an Apple issue. The initial activation goes through them. I'm pretty sure this happened once before and I couldn't activate until late that night.

Well there are a lot less of them.

Had simular issue with watch 3

Same here. Wonder if it's because I'm running Sierra and not High Sierra.
[doublepost=1509738175][/doublepost]I've been trying for about 20 minutes now. Probably 50 "Try Again" attempts. Exactly one time I got to confirm my phone number but then went back. Haha
I have had the same experience. One or two times I have been able to verify my number, then an immediate fail.

Got to the screen where they ask for the zip code and SSN. Placed in 0s, it just kicked me back out to the Could Not Activate page again.

Still doesn't make any sense. Other iPhone model launches have had more phones activating at once. This should not be an issue.

Well I️’ve had my freaking phone for the past two hours and haven’t been able to use it at all due to these stupid activation errors.
ditto

I’ve gotten as far as “Confirm your number” screen which it’s been stuck on for about 15 mins.
I've gotten to "confirm your number" a few times, but then it fails and I'm back to square 1.

Same thing, got to confirm my number and nothing. Plug into computer to try with iTunes and nothing as well, just a white screen that says iPhone... Frustrating!

I was able to activate the AT&T portion manually (www.att.com/activations), but still the same error on the iphone. I am hoping that when it gets thru to Apple it will not need to also go talk to ATT, but who knows.

I hate to brag but my activation of my iPhone X was quick and smooth. I even received an email. Maybe me completely turning off my old phone before attempting to activate helped. I also received my first phone call.
