To use Google "stuff" you have to login. Once you login you add to the file they have on you.

Even if you don't login, if you use any Google "thing" they find a way to track or tag you.

Again, if you're absolutely anti-Google, it's possible to use an Android phone without any of their services. Non-google search, non-google apps, no google "things" no login anywhere.

Why don't they compare it with the iPhone 8 plus? Nearly everything is the same except for Face ID and the "bezel-less" OLED display. The iPhone 8 is a pretty good value and extremely capable device for those who don't need to always have the most expensive phone to show off.

I can't speak for him but I haven't really seen the S9 but the S8 is not that hot IMO. I always think Samsung's phone look cheap, even compared to some of their Android competition. Then again, beauty or aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder. It's just personal preferences or tastes. Neither is right or wrong. It's just an individual's opinion.

I find Android confusing but I've been using iOS since 2008. There's nothing more advanced about either. A inclusion or absence of a single feature here or there isn't going to make or break the overall experience. It's splitting hairs.

I live comfortably in the Apple ecosystem with a Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, HomePod, etc. That's me. These reviews are worthless. The majority of consumers don't look at such reviews. Once they make their initial decision they likely aren't changing.
Nuanced discussion will not be tolerated here.

No, Samsung/Android devices are not for "broke" people or "cheap." You're just paying too much. 1,149$ for what?

It's not about being anti-Google. Majority Android users use Google services, and everything else, and don't pay attention to losing privacy.

Google goes beyond collecting information to make advertising better for the user. Google is collecting everything and finding a use for all the information.

Google is part of Alphabet and Alphabet shares everything it gathers between the companies it owns or has some ties to. And Alphabet continues to buy or invest in a wide variety of companies.

In the user agreement it states Google will share information with authorities if it thinks it should. And the "authorities" are paying a lot of money every year to get access to user information from Google, Microsoft, maybe Apple, and who else?

I'm an apple user, but I love reading threads like this one. iPhone elitist have to belittle anything that threatens their core identity. If anything, the s9 pricing proves that iPhone x pricing is outlandish.
Look at the teardowns from iFixit of the S9 and the iPhone X. There is substantial additional tech in there, most notably the tech that makes Face ID work. The S9 is a newer phone and yet the processor is slower than the iPhone X (or 8 for that matter).

I disagree with people saying only poor people buy Samsung phones. I actually find the Samsung "flagship" phones to be a ripoff. You can get similar specs with Android software and less Samsung bloatware at far lower prices.

When it comes to the iPhone, I feel you are getting a lot more value for the money than you get with the "high end" Android devices.

Sorry but I just don't get that. What is so repulsive about the iPhone X, that you'd go all the way back to the 7+? The 8+ is just fine if you must have Touch ID and can't live with Face ID.

7+ & 8+ are pretty much the same darn phone. The 7+ is cheaper and comes in Product (R)ed.

A notch, some animoji, a nice OLED screen with a weird aspect ratio, a great camera and a phone I can unlock with wet hands.

I'm certain it's got other things going for it I just haven't been sold on anything else. So be it.

It is frankly bewildering how it is considered by some that in order to use a Samsung phone it requires being from a lower class. Aside from anything else such irrational comments come across as obnoxious.

How have we come to where an individuals place in society is decided upon which smartphone they use?

Apple has always been the “Starbucks” of tech, as real Starbucks is to coffee. It sells a premium image. That’s why those hideous cases with the Apple cutout logo exist, to “show off” that it’s an iPhone.

Slower in what? Geekbench? Great. Go watch EverythingApplePros vs video where the S9 beat it in a speed test and RAM management test. Remember the olden days where iPhone users didn't care about benchmarks? Now all of the sudden they do. What can the iPhone X do that an SE or even a 7 can't?

The S9 looks seriously ugly in my opinion, as did the S8. I’m sure many will disagree but for me it fundamentally fails aesthetically.

Honestly I don’t know why people are so hyped about it.

You're insane... The S8 and S9 phones look like what would've came out of the old Apple design studio.

I watched it and I believe he should had tested the S9 not S9+ against the X - as the S9 has only 4 Gb of ram vs 6 GB in S9+ - that is a huge difference.

Compare the S9 to X and you will see how much nicer the X is. It is even smaller than S9 even-though they got the same screen size. People were giving Apple crap for bezels before X, I will do the same to S9 - the bezels - top and bottom are just out of place in the flagship phone. The edge display is just pointless - screen bleed and the lost sharpness - talk about a gimmick - the notch on the X looks like from the future compare to the edges on the S9. If Samsung could make a reliable face ID equivalent, I can bet that fingerprint sensor wouldn't be present - people get excited that the sensor is that, but they were forced to keep it because of their inability to the proper Face ID equivalent, not because they listen.

It seems that the S9's additional RAM is really the difference here. I've never understood why Apple is so stingy with RAM.
Then again, I've never understood why so many Android users frequent an Apple forum. Why does it matter to Android users. Is there a competition? I've never once visited an Android forum.

Totally disagree. By your logic, they would've also gotten rid of the headphone jack ... which they decided to keep because most of the world likes ... wait for it ... headphone jacks!

There are "users" that aren't exclusive to the Apple ecosystem. For example, I have slowly started to remove much of my dependence on the system because Apple is turning into an media consumption company versus a technology company. The iPhone X is a complete joke, they've haven't updated the Mac Mini and Mac Pro in years, they've rid themselves of routers, and the list goes on and on.

Hey Verizon thanks for making this review possible. Now can you do something about the crap service on the North East Corridor line?

I can't wait until iPhone goes notchless again.

Same. Won’t buy a new model until they move on from testing the prototype models such as the X and possibly the next generation or two. They’ll have worked out the tech by then to get rid of the notch and return basic aesthetic values.

Purely because it's always been enough. Not until the past few years where android have got really got at memory management
