I have a PSVR2 - and that's super awesome. It's lower res than these, but Sony has sold a BUNCH of them.

I'd pay good money for an apple product like the meta smart glasses. The AVP is super cool tech but I just can't get past the - ok, so now what?- side of them. I don't trust meta at all, but their glasses are slick. Supposely the next version can do overlays. What the heck, apple? Meta, friggin Meta, is better at these than you?

I could afford one now, but this would have to be half the size and half the price for me to even consider spending any of my disposable income on this.

VR at a pricepoint above $1000 is a fools errand. It disconnects you from family and friends and in general doesn't do a hell of alot that your phone or ipad can do.

I enjoy my $500 Meta Quest 3 here and there but i have no actual use for it, it's just a nice to have
Why on earth would you be disconnected from your family and friends? It's not an isolation cell. Seems like an absolute made-up criticism, oft repeated here but baseless.

My local Apple Store has devoted a whole table by the entrance to the AVP. I can honestly say I’ve never seen anyone trying it.

Meanwhile they don’t have room to display all the colour options for the iMac and iPads.

I hope it addresses the passthrough video quality criticisms. Any device that emphasizes AR functionality needs to provide the user with crystal clear vision of the real world, because the defining difference between AR and VR is that AR should only add to real world, not take away—so that you can do work equally in both the real world and virtually simultaneously. (Example I used before: a mechanic working on a real engine with virtual schematics.)
Right now, all AR devices including the VP seem to really only emphasize virtual work. It’s technically AR only in that you can keep your geographical bearings in the real world, but the diminished quality view of the real world discourages you from focusing on anything real in it.

Wait, Pro 2? Weren't there dozens of rumors regarding a cheaper non-"Pro" model?

It's called the Vision Pro 2 because that's all they're likely to sell.

Agree - but by "support", in this case, I mean supporting and courting developers needs.

But ultimately it has to start with a user base interested in Apps.

To me it all mostly starts & ends with "way too expensive" and the problems largely fall from that tree.
If they are able to reduce the cost [and weight] whilst maintaining quality, I will start porting over my Meta XR work to the AVP.
They also need to be better at supporting developer needs. Meta are next level compared to Apple at this.
