I agree, I'm still figuring if I need 256 or 512
Just figure out your uses. How much applications you install, how much space those take up, will you have media on there, etc.
I agree, I'm still figuring if I need 256 or 512
I don't know anything about that (I live in Denmark). I was simply correcting the percentage

Exactly my thoughts! I think it can happen.
more conspiracy theory:
September 10: iPhone 5C/5S announcement, iOS 7 gets release date, rMBP annoucement, Mavericks gets release date.
September 13: iOS 7 public release, 5S Pre-Orders begin
September 20: iPhone 5S/5C available in retail stores, (Last Day of BTS 14-day return policy)
September 21: Mavericks Public Release, rMBPs begin shipping
Mid October: Silent Update iMac and Mac Mini
Oct/Nov Event: iPad 5, iPad mini 2(no retina, IMO), Mac Pro, new Final Cut?
I think the rMBP update is going to be silent or just a few slides at the Mavericks presentation.
I would recommend that you guys check again. That's not the way it's worked in the past; instead, it's been an either/or. I know because (A) I tried to stack them, and they didn't, and (B) I asked reps too, and they told me no dice. Of course, it's possible that the internal policy has changed, but if the ShopDiscover discount stacking affects whether you'd go with Apple versus a third party reseller...well, if it were me, I'd certainly verify.

The Discover thing also says a cap of $1500 in purchases. rMBP would cost more than that.
Unless the rMBP's are ready for shipment that very day, nobody will mention them at all. Not a peep. They really have nothing to do with Mavericks and It wouldn't go over well with retailers still sitting on old stock.
It would make more sense to not announce the Haswell MBP until the 21st, with immediate availability. Your idea would simply result in 10 days of near-zero MBP sales.
That is the unfortunate hole in all of this... Apple won't compromise their existing stock, so there can't be an an announcement ahead of time. I suppose they could announce a 21st release date for Mavericks and have the rMBP refresh be silent along with it.
I'm actually expecting a silent or near-silent update either way. If it's in October, it'll be a footnote on the iPad event. If it's this month, it'll have to be a silent update. While the battery improvements are impressive for some of us, the loss of dGPU and general lack of CPU performance increases aren't impressive from a marketing/event perspective.
I think everyone should get 16GB, if they can. It's only 200 more and you can never upgrade your ram. Plus you get a significant boost in longevity of your rMBP.
I feel the same way. I don't use my full 8GB of RAM right now, but I want the extra breathing room. I'll be getting the same configuration, but the higher clocked "base" CPU. My late-2008 15" MBP (2.4GHz C2D, 9400M) is on its last leg.
Alright, I've staked my claim in this poll: Haswell Prediction Poll
This way it's easy for us all to identify who among this thread nailed their predictions.![]()
i dislike my choice: Oct iGPU only... but it's looking like it'll be that scenario

I'm getting 15-inch base CPU + 512GB SSD + 16GB ram.
You Sir are getting the EXACT configuration that I'm getting. Can't wait. In addition I'm getting either the Apple external optical or a Samsung that plays Blu Rays as well. Haven't decided. Any thoughts on which one i should get?
Which is why this shouldn't be a "silent" release. Honestly... somebody from Apple needs to nut up, stand on a stage and at least walk people through the dGPU change. I think Jobs would've done this. (Of course then he would suck everyone into that distortion bubble of his and convince us all it's better.the loss of dGPU and general lack of CPU performance increases aren't impressive from a marketing/event perspective.

What are you saying ?
He's pointing out that Apple used to be a much more consumer-friendly company. And that they should discuss the rMBP at an event to explain what they did.
It's interesting, though - I'm trying to think of any other strategic shifts or "side-grades" in Apple hardware history.. I can't think of a close analog..
dropping the optical drive and the hard drive!
