There was an odd report from Kuo that the most radical product coming at the end of 2017 was a more powerful MBP. Maybe that will come in 2018. I don't recall the 32gb but would make sense [if the cpu allowed it - mobile xeon?]
For me a 15" with 6 cores, 32gb and hooking up to a decent Nvidia eGPU [would prefer in the comp but given up on that one] would be perfect.

I stand by that those rumors were actually the iMac pro, and Kuo simply drew the wrong conclusion. the iMac Pro had a major internal redesign with 32gb of desktop RAM that was obviously targeted at pros. Feel like he just assumed the pets were going toward a MacBook Pro due to all the criticism. Kuo doesn’t know product plans, he knows about parts. So he simply saw the components and felt they were destined for a MacBook when in fact it was the iMac.

Yep.

To me, the best clue that could support something happening this spring on the rMBP front is the Intel+AMD initiative: https://www.macrumors.com/2017/11/06/intel-8th-generation-processors-amd-gpus
Supposed to come in Q1’18.
But these quadcore would probably be more suited to replace the Haswell $2k rMBP15 entry model.
Anything else looks more like unsubstantiated guesses at this point. We’re still waiting for CFL U and H news.

Yep you are probably right which is why I said 'odd'. It made no sense to me either at the time.

Damn, yes. That makes so much sense. I must've been the iMac Pro.

So what config can we expect for the 13”
And 15” ?
Did amd or is rumored to announce laptop gpu to fit the 15”?
Can we say good bye to the quad core cpu from the upcoming 15” mbp?

I highly doubt it, there isn't a 15" without Touch Bar at the moment and with MacBook Pro sales doing well (the last quarter sales have increased) i don't see Apple adding a none Touch Bar version.
I think the idea is that it'd replace the $1,999 2015 model (which is to all intents and purposes the ntb 15" at the moment) - though I don't think they can afford to introduce another ntb model without killing the concept entirely; limiting it to what must be your two lowest selling laptops in the first place is a way to guarantee that the ecosystem for it won't take off as you want it to, pushing it further into niche territory would likely make developers completely lose interest.

In that case i could see them discounting the 2015 MacBook pro 15" and replace it with a none touch bar version. It's all going to depend on how well the Touch Bar is being received by professionals and people in general, it's difficult to get a general idea on a forum like this because people usually only complain when there is a problem, so the people who are happy won't be saying anything. Apple don't split their sales down by model either so we don't really know how the Touch Bar version is selling.

I do hear some positive things about the Touch Bar for example a best friend of mine is an editor and he uses Final Cut Pro with the Touch Bar, he says that it does save him time when editing, i've had a look myself and it does save time in Final Cut Pro when using tools such as the blade, fade in and out and so on. As for other apps i don't know as i've only used a MacBook Pro Touch Bar in the Apple store and at my friends. I do plan on buying one probably next year now that my 2011 MacBook Pro is showing it's age.

Apple have cocked up quite massively with the touchbar in my opinion. I have one but I don't use it. I've got a nTB MBP at the moment while my tbMBP is being repaired and its much nicer having the physical keys. Its a cool concept but its just not useful.

The problem is Apple won't admit this and drop it after less than 2 years. I don't mind it, its just not a useful addition and I'm pretty sure they could save a little battery life/space by removing it.

The thing is, Apple is not developing anything related to the Touch Bar. And Apple is not talking about it anymore.
If they really believed in the TB, they would have integrated it in the iMac Pro, and in updated iMacs.
I hope/guess that Apple is going to replace the entry level 15" old design MacBook with a new design nTB.
Basically it's what we're waiting for, a cheaper 15", with Hexa core, extendable to 32GB ram and no Touch Bar.
June 2018?
I see more and more people with the new MacBook, and my 2014 retina 15" starts to "look" old. But I know there's not so much power different, and plug wise the world is not ready for an all in USB C.

We don’t know what Apple is developing since they don’t comment on it, so I wouldn’t jump to conclusions on that yet. I don’t see them removing it but maybe they will add a none Touch Bar version for those that don’t want it.

Well we know that in the last 3, 4 keynotes since the launch of the new MacBook, not a single minute was given about the Touch Bar.
Regularly Apple gives news us about Siri updates and improvements, iOS improvements, new apps in the store using several technologies they're pushing (you can be assured they will keep featuring apps using AR), etc...
They promised at the launch of the TB that lots of cool things would come up. Their usual "we can't wait to see what developers will do", but the last 2 years, nothing. Because the TB is just not exciting.

I dont see them removing it either. But i'm just hoping for a non touch bar version on the 15".

MBP with touchbar is a joke to most of developers. Myself included. TB brings nothing to developers. Nothing. Only annoyances. Want your ESC key back? Use external keyboard. I keep on hitting ESC on TB by accident.

I would argue that TB brings almost nothing useful. Even for people using affinity products, adobe, etc. For all of what TB can bring, there is a keyboard shortcut. And once you learn those, they are way faster, and way more efficient then moving your eyes from the screen to the TB.

I have nothing against TB. Keep it for all I care. But I have a lot against Apple for not offering similar MBP without TB. That way we could have a choice. I would gladly pay the current price for 15" MBP, but without TB. No need to bring prices down. Just give it without that (IMHO) gimmick.

I might be a little hasty on predicting the FaceID redesigns will come in 2019 but given that Ive is back in charge of the design team, things will get a bit more speedier and I believe 2019 will be a big year for Apple in terms of new designs.

So no way will Apple use Nvidia GPU in 2018?
Fairly unlikely, given the less than idyllic relationship between the two companies and the fact that Apple's software is optimized to run on AMD cards. Bummer for folks who use CUDA, however I don't think this situation is going to change anytime soon. I'd like to be proven wrong, but for the time being if you need Nvidia it's either eGPU or a Win/Linux machine.

I think the 15-inch Kaby Lake machine is great, personally. I would be strongly opposed to ditching the TouchBar or any of the other features of the new system, with one major exception -- the SSD really should be on a daughter card and not the main logic board. And a couple of minor exceptions -- moving the USB-C ports a little farther apart, perhaps adding an extra one, throwing in an SD slot would all help, and providing more options for users to customize the TouchBar (e.g. locking in a certain layout across applications for reasons of typing).

Other than that, keep right on, I say. Battery life is great; keyboard is very good, even for 100wpm typing for me; touchpad is great; it's a very nice machine to live with.

Tending to think the same, especially after this news The iMac Pro & upcoming Mac Pro will be Apple's stand out computing solutions; big numbers built to impress the tech press and bolster Apple's flagging "Pro" kudos, in an attempt to slow the reverse "Halo effect" that is currently in full swing, best described as an exodus. MBP will remain to be a nicely appointed consumer product, little else.

As for serving the professional community, days are done, with Apple offering "all or nothing" with near zero scalability. 2018 MBP will highly likely be a spec bump, the 2020 a further diluted product, equally guaranteed to be thinner & lighter as that's what sells in the consumer space...

Yes, this is normal, you can't fault AAPL for this. If thin and light sell then they gonna sell thinner and lighter :)

I can’t see Apple missing a release cycle on the IPad Pro I think it’ll get the X version of the iPhone 8 chip and maybe Face ID in June 2018
