In our recent What to Expect post, we covered everything we think we'll see from Apple in 2018 based on the current rumors that are circulating about the company's 2018 plans.

Three new iPhones are on the horizon, one a followup to the iPhone X, one that will serve as an "iPhone X Plus" with a larger OLED display, and one with an LCD display that will be positioned as a low to midrange device with a cheaper price tag. Apple's first smart speaker, the HomePod, will come out in 2018, and we're also expecting a revamped iPad Pro, refreshed Macs, and new software, but there's always a chance for a wildcard update or new product that will surprise us all.

A high-end modular Mac Pro, new original TV shows, AR smart glasses, and autonomous driving software are all products Apple is working on, with no official release date known. We want to hear from the MacRumors community -- what are you expecting or hoping to see Apple release in 2018?

Are there specific features you're hoping Apple will implement in iOS 12, tvOS 12, watchOS 5, or macOS 10.14? Popular wishlist items for last year included a dark mode for iOS, a customizable Control Center (which happened!), animated icons, iPhone complications, a swipe-based keyboard, offline Maps and Siri, and more.

Let us know what you want to see in the comments, and make sure to check out our What to Expect post to get a glimpse at the current rumors. Apple's plans for 2018 will become more clear in the early months of the year, and as always, we'll be covering every rumor that pops up in-depth here at MacRumors.

The MacRumors forums are also a rich resource for discussing upcoming products and rumors, and with so many exciting changes on the horizon for 2018, our forums are the place to be for lively discussions on what's coming.

We'd like to thank all of our readers and forum members for making MacRumors the absolute best source for Apple news, rumors, and advice on the web. We wouldn't be here without you, and we look forward to yet another rumor-packed year in 2018.

[doublepost=1514904891][/doublepost]I'd like to see a modular mac mini/pro which has stackable units, one for processor/s, another for gpu, ram, and inputs. As the technology changes, you swap out stack units, and add others as technologies change. Thus removing the need to buy a complete new computer. The old units could be sold on or recycled/cashed in on upgrading units.

Ive doesn’t control which ports MBP have, or the size of the battery, for those who blame him for thinness. Those are marketing decisions.

If marketing thought they needed Ethernet, USB-A ports, long travel keyboards or 2x current battery life to sell MBP, they’d have put them in the requirements doc.

Apple’s vision of a thin, light, powerful laptop that was ideal for traveling, and moved easily between home and work—often with the use of just a single cable—was fully realized in the 2016/2017 MBP.

That vision isn’t consistent with the requirements of some users, including those who want native ports, a traditional escape key or longer battery life, among others. The touch bar vision has yet to be fully realized, and may well end up being one of Apple’s innovation mis-fires.

Sorry Ive does control the 'Product' Marketing drives the 'Want'. Apple over reached!

Yes the 2016/17 models are thin and light weight and there is a market for them! But the bigger more important market is your base.

I could have seen the idea of breaking the MacBook Pro line up with the travel version and the working pro's version. But thats not what Apple did.

Lets look at the new iPhone 8 & iPhone X both meet different markets and both have sold well! Here in the laptop space Apple needed to do a 'shift down' tossing out the Air, making the new MacBook the Air, The new MacBook Pro as the MacBook (the travel version) and then create the Wower MacBook Pro the Pro market is crying for.

They realized they messed up with the Mac Pro line and they brought out the new iMac Pro to fill in the hole. Sadly, it's more closed up then the iMac 5K!

They have little time to fix both the Pro laptop space and the Pro desktop space. If they need to new marketing name then call the new MacBook Pro the MacBook Pro2!

Can we have a poll?

Before we do, couple of things.
There can't be unrealistic options. USB A or B ports are not coming back for MBP.
No point asking for quad core cpu for Mac Mini, as all cpu's will be at least quad core. Same goes for TB3. It's given. You could wish for (Titan Ridge based TB3 that supports DP1.4 instead of the current 1.2, or TB4 that is not ready).

We could include features that we know it's here or coming. Like 120Hz displays, OLED screens, HDR, BT5, HDMI 2.1, better than DCI P3 colour volume etc. Etc.

how about it?

Hardware wise, I don’t really care all that much. I think they’re stretching themselves too thin currently. I want the software to improve. iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra have been pretty awful. If nothing but bug fixes came, I’d be content. If bug fixes, a reimagined Notification Center, and dark mode for iOS came out, I’d be over the moon.

1. A truly mini Mac Mini.

2. An iPad with no bezels.

3. An iPhone with Face ID that doesn't cost more than $650.

That may be wishful thinking there, Face ID is a new technology that costs more to implement, production costs may come down over time tho. New iPhone’s will not become cheaper.

What I'd like to see:

•Renewed, unwavering, continued support for high-end professionals.
•17" MacBook Pro with anti-glare screen option and a good array of ports (but minus the gimmick bar).
•Apple Pencil support on MBP trackpads (ideally going back a few versions).
•User replaceable SSD & Ram in all MBPs. (Including a 32GB Ram option or don't even bother).
•New Mac Pro that isn't crippled by design and/or ludicrous pricing.
•New Apple Cinema Display line with built-in calibration (like Eizo's ColorEdge line, but done more elegantly please).
•More focus, time and attention spent on macOS (read: more stability and pro features, less iOS-ification)
•Less politics from Tim Cook (in fact, less from Tim Cook in general).
•Oh and please bring back Scott Forstall.
•Less greed.

What I think we'll see:

•Animoticons in AR.
•A New Mac Pro that no one asked for or can really use/justify/afford.
•A new extended range of watchbands.
•At least 2 to 3 new scandals with corresponding apologies from Apple, or even TC himself.
•Price increases for all new/revised products.
•More glue and less screws.
•Boring, cringeworthy keynotes.
•More of the same old same old.

What I want? Let’s see, for starters fix effin airdrop so it doesn’t mix all the pictures when sending more than a few! It’s been years I’m having to deal with this. I can’t send or receive pictures in large amounts via airdrop because it all get mixed!

Fix the bugs! I don’t want new features fix the bugs!

I’d like to have several HomePods thank you.

Looking at many of the responses here, I am starting to understand why so many people are so mad at Apple. Assuming their desires are legitimate, they want what Apple obviously cannot and will not provide. Is it delusion that makes them clamour for a laptop with older ports despite knowing full well the direction is headed in.

If Apple doesn't hear the clamor then you're right nothing will change! But if they open their ears... Its possible they will listen!

Look at the new iMac Pro they could have pulled the USB-A ports they didn't! So thats a start!

I do like the idea of USB-C and maybe offering a more main stream system will help push it forward. Apple did it with USB way back killing off ADB. But that made sense then. Here is where its very different! Many different devices use USB-A many people have invested lots of money on these devices and the dongles only makes this worse! If Apple did a 2 USB-A and 2 USB-C ports then I could have seen it as a good step forward. I still want my MagSafe and SD card reader in any case.

An iPhone worth its price tag. This can be achieved by doing two things: Either improving the X or by cutting its price. Things like a 120 Hz display would help make the X more desirable but even then I'd still rather have it at a lower price. The EU price of 1300€ for the base model is absolutely bonkers for a phone that is in no way better than much cheaper devices on the market.

Macbook Pro without the ******* design choices. I have the 2016 model and my main issues with it are bad battery life, keyboard that feels like **** to type on due to having next to no key travel and layout issues (especially the arrows feel bad as does the narrow ISO Enter). The trackpad should be scaled down to 2015 size, there is no reason for it to be so huge. The Touchbar is useless so it should be removed and the fingerprint reader should be faster. I know they won't do it but just adding a single regular USB-A port would not hurt.

iOS 12 that improves on a few things: Mandatory split screen support for all apps and requirement that 3rd party keyboards scale correctly to iPad layout aka full keyboard. Finnish autocorrect and prediction for default keyboard, it's ridiculous I have to use 3rd party keyboards for that. Updated notifications functionality so it isn't **** to use for people who get a lot of emails or messages. Vertical and horizontal (portrait / landscape) split screen support for iPhone and iPad.

Why would we go back to ports when were moving towards a wireless future? Your comment made me throw up in my mouth a little

Wireless future? Lol - wireless is for noobs who either don't have decent wired internet connections, or don't understand the damage caused to DNA by wireless radiation 1m from your head, or suffer ADD from not checking their Facebook feed every 2 minutes. Get a life. Live long and prosper.

Expand Apple Maps to inside every mall airport and theme park in North America. Begin to include parking stalls as part of maps (not sure how they could do this but start small in one city) not only arrive at your general destination, be directed to a parking spot

All I want is a special edition trans pride band sold exclusively in Saudi Arabia.

OS X had that feature before, few people used it I guess so it's gone, can't remember which version, think it was OS X 10.5(amongst other versions), there was also another App/plugin called Geektool.

My mid-2015 iMac 27 still has Dashboard (which I never use) and you can pin things into the Notification Centre but am guessing the feature PP mentioned was shuttered?

What I would like to see is more developers having apps ready for any new screen improvements if any codes show higher resolutions etc; even now a fair few apps I use are still not ready for iPhone X.

That is a great idea (if it remains the same price and you can use any wireless charger.)
I have no doubts we'll get this. It's the perfect elegant solution for using the air charging matte... my pencil constantly runs out of juice and this awkward, accident waiting to happen, stick it out the ipad's ass solution doesnt work for me :D
