Most people here bought it solely for the reason that if you look at the back of the phone.. there is an Apple logo on it.

You're so right, I couldn't resist NOT having an :apple:Apple logo on my Phone. It drives me nuts. That was my ONLY reason for going with the iPhone 5.

I like how the app icons look on the iPhone. Nice, big, and visually vivid, neatly in a row. I'm not much for customization, so the simple yet effective layout of the iPhone app icons are perfect for me. I love the Folders! I find the Android app icons small and with the touted customization, can make the phone look in disarray.

I didn't, I left iphone for a s3.

I didn't, I left iphone for a s3.

Soon i'll have 80GB in my phone.
Wifi Direct.
All Share.
Torrents straight from my phone.
Amazing bigger display.
Wireless sync ANYTHING on my computer, No wires required.
Actually can stream all my whole 30gb music collection without taking up a single mb.

I couldn't be happier. Android phones has improved since i had the Mytouch4g. The cam & build quality is ass compared to iphone though..

MusicManager? I thought audio quality wasn't there. Not like songs stored on the device, I thought. I also didn't think the AMAZING BIGGER DISPLAY was so amazing. Very dim.

For me, I'd alternated already...

I started on a G1
Then went to a 3
Then moved to a ZTE Blade
and now I'm back with the iPhone 5

Both operating systems provide pretty much equal functionality. The only reason I went for the 5 instead of the S3 was for development - I was having to use an aging iPod Touch to test my iPhone app builds.

Is the 5 better than the S3? No. It's about the same...but with one or two trivial features missing (e.g NFC).

----------

Android is not a very good product.

Because...?

Sorry but its a stupid argument if you arent going to provide valid reasons. It'd be like me saying "The MacBook Air is useless" then walking off, without saying why, in my opinion it's useless.

Also, if you're going to provide reasons, please make them valid ones as we seem to see a lot of people here saying they dont like android "Because it stole from iOS" - a bull statement!

Mines covered up by a case so that's not my reasoning :p I get your point though, and you're right ;)

Come on, people here won't admit to that! :D

(though I'm sure it's the case for a fair amount of people...)

I just sold my GS3 on Craigslist. My biggest issue was I missed iTunes. Samsung has their Kies program, but no compatibility with Mountain Lion. I had to use unstable programs like EasyPhoneTunes+ & AndroidFile Transfer. I wanted to make playlists using the PowerAmp app...I'd have a 250 song playlist & in about 24 hours, it would be depleted. Zero songs in it!!!

It seemed like it got more unstable when I'd add more apps. This may seem stupid, but I hated this...I'd close the messaging app, and the keyboard would lag and stay stuck on the home screen for about 2-3 seconds. I'd look at it and scream... "AND WHAT THE F#*CK IS THIS????"

However, I was really impressed with its design...I thought it was beautiful. Really a pretty phone and IceCream Sandwich is really improved, but IMHO, not enough. The OS really lacks polish.

Did you try TuneSync? It lets you sync iTunes to your SD card, then you can use any of the hundreds of music players in the play store. IIRC it fully supports playlists too.

Me too , I don't like the Android GUI . With programmers (The one's I know) they are very good at coding, but not so much with the graphic design. I've only come across a few coders who are great at both. And it's been said that the Android coding community care less about the design of their GUI and more about ease of use, customization , and awesome software features. etc.

A lot of the icons on the Android are just plain and some can be really rasterized to the point where it ruins the experience. Sure the iphone's GUI (Icons etc) on first glance looks like a fisher price toy to some but I love the quality of design, the brightness, the clean finish.

Apple's ecosystem and app store are a breeze, it's just so quick and easy to use.

I have had the HTC Wildfire S for a while (which is now used as an alarm clock) just to see what it was like, it's cheap, it feels cheap, looks cheap. However! the Samsung Galaxy 3 does look like an awesome handset, it's just not for me. If there's one thing I love about Android it's the customization, open source etc.

I love the design of the iphone, it's superb, nothing comes close to it in terms of the Software, Hardware, design and quality of both.

4S was stolen in December, got a galaxy nexus, only thing I like in android over iOS is the user accessible file system. other features such as widgets and live wallpaper are just a battery drain.

the reason I will not consider a non-iOS phone is AirPlay.

I don't have a single reason but numerous:

- Sexy all around device with amazing details and feels extremely well built
- iOS
- Apple's ecosystem (Seamlessly works well with all my Macs, iPad, iCloud)
- Simplicity and ease of use
- Appstore with a lot of high-quality and premium apps
- UX/UI Is the best of any smartphone out there
- Gorgeous Screen
- Amazing Cameras
- Overall design
- Airplay

I did not try TuneSync. I did try iSyncer and DoubleTwist Air, but I had better luck w/ EPT+ and AFT. I would scour Phandroid & AndroidCentral and I didn't see anything about TuneSync. I would've tried it for sure. Does TuneSync transfer movies also? Or would I still have needed to use AndroidFile Transfer?

Actually had this debate with myself while waiting for an appointment at the Apple store to replace my faulty 5. Popped in to a phone shop and had a look at the S3.

For me it fails at the first hurdle - it's just too big. No way I could use it one handed, it's that bit too large to comfortably drop into a pocket and the compromises in build quality to keep the weight down were far too obvious. Ultimately these are devices you hold every time you use them and the S3 just felt, well, cheap IMO.

There's another thing too, I can't see what Android would offer me that would make the switch worthwhile. You get a couple more gadgets but they usually fall on the gimmick end of the scale. NFC, f'instance, doesn't interest me in the least as I can't see a real world application I'd want to use it for right now. The range of apps is good but not as good as iOS and I haven't yet come across an app that I'd prefer to use on Android, much less one that would make me want to switch.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the S3, specifically, feels too big whereas Android itself I'd be perfectly happy with if I was coming to it fresh but it doesn't offer anything special that would make the pain of switching worthwhile.

Sorry but I have three reasons:

1. It's a PHONE. I do not wish to hold a tablet up beside my head.

2. It's an Apple. It is part of an overall communications environment between my Apple products and it works exceptionally well.

3. When I think I have a problem, I can go to the Apple store and the genius is helpful and not defensive. Sometimes I leave with a better understanding of why I did not do something correctly and sometimes with a new product. I never leave with a bad feeling of being screwed.

Right size...part of an ecosystem of products....excellent customer experience

What else is there?

All Apple stuff I got. The Ecosystem. Brilliant. Couldn't live without it now. I would only buy an S3 if I could put iOS on it. (Or full compatibility with iOS and iCloud syncing).

(Mine's a 4S)

Apps/App Ecosystem. iOS has more apps, in general higher quality/more polished apps, and pretty much always gets new apps first. With many apps also having a tablet version is also very nice, one price tag for two apps.

Had an HTC Evo 4G not long after it came out when it was still the "best Phone" on the market and absolutely hated it. After a month or so of having it stared noticing it bogging down and getting glitchy. Also hated the whole syncing process for it. Deployed shortly after and got back the day before 4s preorders started.

I haven't tried an android since then due to everything i hear about all of them having those types of issues.

switched to the 5 due to sprints service being so crappy around here and now on Verizon.

Apps, The Apple ecosystem, & iCloud.

iCloud is a major factor.

I love how my entire phone is saved including settings and app data. All my progress in games, especially, is what I enjoy about iCloud as I tend to get a new iPhone every year so I never lose my games progress.

Having to force quit apps all the time and the bugs was another annoyance for me. As well as becoming slow the more I used it.

The HTC I had always had apps running in the background, you had to purchase an app that closed running apps. It was ridiculous.
