Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)- If the Academy Awards had a Best Adventure Film, this would have won in 2015. Great CGI, great characters, story, and great toons. :D Excellent description of what the Infinity Stones are.

I recently rewatched Avengers: Age Of Ultron. I actually enjoyed it more this time around. In fact, I think this might have been my second viewing of it. It felt more cohesive and less chaotic than I remembered. It really feels like it was re-edited, because when it came out, I was not impressed. Perhaps it’s just the retrospective of the new characters and how that story developed to culminate in Endgame. I don’t know but I really enjoyed it.

I frequently need a second or even a third viewing to decide how I really feel about a movie.

The Crazies [2010]

Horror films typically bomb for the most part, unless you go back to the classics from the 70s and 80s, those are the ones that are probably executed the best. But ‘The Crazies’ is actually genuinely scary and has a lot of segmented scenes that are very well Placed that puts the viewer in a position where you can’t look away. The only downside to this movie is the plot is very shallow.

[The movie itself is about a virus that essentially breaks out into the main water supply of a small town in Iowa and starts affecting people to the point where they become very hostile and can’t control their actions.]

To me, The Crazies is one of the rare films that actually isn’t really about so much of how good the actors are, it’s the overall setting mixed with the idea of ‘You never know what you’re gonna walk into next.....’ type of climax. And I think that’s kind of hard to come across, when movies usually rely on acting to make it a ‘good film’, but that’s not the case here. The direction of using all the elements around the scenes make this movie definitely worth a watch, but the acting is rather subpar.

Oh, by the way.... my suggestion would be to amp it up a bit, watch this is in a dark setting, if you have a top notch surround-sound, that should change your perspective when viewing.

Enjoy!

The Sound of Music (1965)- Best picture. Simply incredible. :)

I’m reminded of a recent story of someone who grew up only having seen the first half, back when it would have been on two vhs tapes, and thinking that was it. When a friend referenced the nazis, she was like, “wait wut?”:p I forget the source, but probably This American Life.

I feel the same about this movie. I thought it was kind of meh when I first watched it but realize that’s probably because in my own mind it couldn’t live up to its predecessor. It’s since become one of my favorite MCU movies and I’d now rather watch this than the first one.

Yeah I agree, although the first is only second because I’ve watched it 4 times.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)- Yes, again. :) In the Shield-Hydra aftermath, Tony Stark get’s hold of Loki’s Scepter, decides an unknown AI, (whatever an AI is doing in an Infinity Stone?) could be good for his protect humanity project, but then it gets lose and all hell breaks loose, Tony, Tony, Tony. But we are rewarded with Vision. :)

Ant Man (2015)- Yes again. This movie has a special quality about it, cool concept, great cast. Seems like Corey Stoll more times than not gets cast as a heavy.

I thought, at the time, this is the one, this is going to be the stinker that ruins the streak. I had predicted the same about Guardians Of The Galaxy and been proven wrong. I was proven wrong about this one too. Excellent story and casting and quirky enough to not take itself too seriously.
