Commando

Underrated over the top 80s action movie. Top 3 arnold movie for me.

agree with that!

That is an excellent movie, well scripted, well acted, one with a compelling and terrific story, too.
Exactly! When I was very young, my aunt and uncle used to own a vacation resort not far from Amish country. And I have been to both East Scranton and Scranton, PA.

But yes, well acted, and an intense story. I've always thought it is one of Harrison Ford's best performances. As it is, when he made that movie, it was completely out of line with what he had been famous for previously (Star Wars Trilogy, Raiders of the Lost Ark).

Another excellent one (but not that well recognized) was Awakenings, with Robert De Niro and Robin Williams:

Again, both of them were excellent in it, and such roles for certainly different than what they had been known for. And it is based on a true story!

The King and I 1.jpg

The great Yul Brenner. "Shall we Dance" and the "March of the Siamese Children" (when the soon to be be king prince bows down before his proud father) always brings tears to my eyes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is either a complete miss or hit in his films, but in the latter part of his career, he matured into certain roles that really were made for him, and this is one of those movies.

For the record, this isn’t a ‘zombie movie’, it’s more of a love-bond relationship movie between a father and daughter. Which leads to the plot, which is about a female (Abigail Breslin) Who is bitten, and eventually starts to ‘change’ in a post apocalyptic world when a virus breaks out.

The whole movie is very melodramatic, there’s really no major gory, super violent scenes. This Really is a movie that shows you the strength that family has no matter what the situation is. So if you’re looking for something ‘action packed’, this isn’t the type of film, and overall I really enjoyed the direction the film used, and it’s not typically what we would see from Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he pulls it off nicely. All together, this is a very dark movie, and has solid acting with a decent plot.

Will have to try and watch it. I actually liked him in Twins:

and Kindergarten Cop:

Dr Strange (2016) again. You can do some amazing things with the Time Stone in your possession. :)

Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness planned for 2022.

Godzilla versus Kong
The other day I watched it. Cheesy and I had no idea what the subplots were about, but the monster fighting was good. Could have just done with the monster fights.

I also recently watched Shin Godzilla which I really did enjoy… trust me, these kinds of movies are never my thing. But there’s a first time for everything I guess.

The New Mutants. I read the comics years ago, but did not recognize this team at all. The movie wasn't bad, just not much there.

So take the Blair witch Project filming style and then add in the element of filming three teenagers who are exposed to some type of underground alien life form that give them powers where they have superhuman strength and can alter their surroundings.

However, one of the teenagers channels his anger that he has interpersonally and uses his powers in trade of destruction.

To be honest, the movie is good, it’s not great. I think it works for what it is, even if it is on the lower budget side. The concept is really interesting and makes you wonder if we really had access to such powers, would they be used for the better of good or for the worst depending on what type of person you are.

Mostly I have hated Documentary style movie, fictional story telling because they usually include the jerky, nauseating home camera effect. Blair Witch was the first I remember, but it was followed by Cloverfield and because the audience knows this is not a home movie, it’s a gimmick with limited appeal, imo.

The best example of documentary style story telling was the the Normandy landing in Saving Private Ryan, where you really felt like you were on the beach with them, minus the spastic camera effect.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)- Again... Epic story which is fairly straight forward if you have watched the lead up Marvel Movies to what I consider to be the climax of this story arc as compared to Avengers: End Game which imo is a convoluted time travel mess trying to reverse what was wrought in Infinity War.

Sadly both Peter Quill and Thor blow their chance to defeat Thanos.
