Beavis & Butt-Head Do the Universe tonight. It's billed as the stupidest sci fi movie ever.

I hope so.

Then Sat, the latest MST3K movie, "Demon Squad" - with Joel back for this one.

Watched this on Disney Plus, IMO its rubbish, I just found the effects tiring, poor in some places too. The plot line and story are ridiculously predictable and boring I thought. It’s a film that should have gone straight to Disney Plus and not gone to the cinema at all. Sorry for all the fans out there, but yeah not one for me.
I saw a montage of behind the scenes Marvel films and it’s literally like not a single set exists, it’s all it’s almost entirely green screen, it’s beginning to show in these films I think and isn’t as good as a film with actual sets.

All IMO of course. I did like the last Spiderman film though but perhaps that was because it had an old school feel to it, and the talent of the actors in it and it didn’t take itself half as seriously as this Dr Strange films does.

It wasn't my favorite, but I thought it was decent. Seeing Wanda turn evil, to the point of delusional, was jarring, Though after WandaVision, not surprising. But I can always go for some Wong. Dude needs his own movie.

Wanda Vision was good but again didn’t take itself seriously, and it had some new ideas for old tricks in it As it were. This film I just found dull
I think they need some new films and characters are Marvel, Wong could be goon in his own film.

Skyfall (2012) but with director's commentary. Definitely worth it if you liked the movie, I already did but appreciate it even more now :)

Just finished the Netflix original film The Man from Toronto (2022) starring the very talented Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart. It's a great buddy film in the same vein as Get Hard and Central Intelligence with excellent choreography.

Yeah I have had the same impression.
Can it be a "homo homini lupus" reference according to you?
I was not familiar with the phrase and looked it up:

My point was that the advertising for the movie misrepresented what the story was about, attempting to insert non-existing intrigue and conflict where there was one. If I recall correctly, it has to do with an interactive holographic recording that is activated during the story.

Considering I love Sam Raimi, the Benedicts as Strange and Wong and was thrilled to a certain silent but deadly Inhuman come back, I thought this was very disappointing beyond the opening sequences and the appearance of silent but deadly inhuman.

Then again, I cannot stand Wanda/Scarlet Witch. I never liked her in the comics and the same in live action, it intensified.

That said, I would like to see more of Strange, the new arrival at the end and the silent but deadly Inhuman. And if Raimi wanted to direct something else at Marvel, sure, but I think I'd rather see Scott Derrickson back on Strange going forward.
I like Raimi, Strange, Wong, and Wanda and from what I can remember, liked her in the X-Men comics. As I said, I need to watch this again to solidify my feelings about this movie. The bottom line, is would I watch it multiple times?

If I want to launch a critique at anyone, it would be the writers, because while I thought that creating an artificial environment to shield one’s self from pain as in WandaVision was intriguing and worthy, keeping this going for a follow on movie about wanting to be with your kids in a parallel universe and murdering people to do it, struck me a bit like been there, done that.

Basically the phrase stands for "man (jim preston) craves pleasure (satisfy his need of a partner) at the expense of others (aurora lane)".
Jim sees Aurora in her space capsule and he desires her so deep that he chooses to awake her (=can't rehibernate herself so she will dead during the space trip=Jim condemns Aurora).
Their love story is forced due to physical necessity (the only couple possible). In fact Jim himself states that Aurora would never choose him in society (different education, status etc.).

Agreed, not a perfect love story by far. :) Jim was lonely, and acted in a selfish way. I objected to the artificial conflict alluded to in advertisements for this movie to get viewers into the theater.

While I enjoy Raimi’s genre work and the Benedicts (and have happily read Doctor Strange comics for decades now), I cannot see myself revisiting this beyond the opening sequences which felt like Strange and Sam Raimi.

I’ve never liked Wanda in the comics or in live action and would have preferred Gargantos to be the big bad pursuing America through multiverses rather than being a lapdog of Wanda. Wanda’s arc could have ended with WandaVision.
…And tangent…

Gargantos (aka Shuma Gorath) was great fun in the comics. He and Strange shared a brilliant thread in the 2019-2022 run of Savage Avengers. That comic run would have served the multiverse quite well (and set up more of Kang the Conqueror, aka He Who Remains etc. from Loki) too.

I am hopeful for more Strange and Sam directing more Marvel films, but please keep this screenwriter and Wanda out of it. Felt like we never had enough time to meet the alternate variants of Strange either.

13 Minutes (2021)- Not the 2017 movie about a plot to kill Hitler, this story opens a window into the lives of some USA Mid-Westerners just before a killer tornado hits. After it’s over, I was asking what was the point of this movie?

Spoilers follow-
It visibly paints the picture of the trauma of survivors of wholesale destruction, it is relatively low budget special effects, although the up close, watch the occupants of a house as it comes apart is impressive, and the personal lives of the gay guy, the pregnant girl, ethnic relationships seemed like as I said, a window into routine lives, with nothing profound other than the interest you may have developed as to see who survives. I was surprised that one couple
gay guys parents who willfully don’t take shelter in their storm celler
survived as it seemed highly improbable. The debris field also impressed me as I tried to guess where the set ended and the CGI took over.

As some critics observed, it fails as a disaster movie, but you may still like it. I would also suggest Twister (1996) which follows a group of competing tornado hunters, big budget thrills and visuals.
