Being both immensely entertaining & terrifying at the same time...

Watched Top Gun Maverick. Did anyone else feel like the climax was strangely similar to that of Star Wars Episode IV? A small group of fighter jets (X-Wings) need to fly through a narrow valley (equatorial trench) to avoid SAMs (turbolasers) in order to fire at a small (less than three meters) target, which is a ventilation shaft (exhaust port). And one of the main characters is trained by a man who was involved in his father's demise (Obi-Wan). Anyway, regardless of that standing out to me, it was a worthy successor to the original and very well shot. I think it did have less emotional weight because none of the good guys died in combat, but that would be my only major gripe.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014): Excellent story, action, CGI, Hydra, Bucky!
I am reminded of Hunt For Red October.Crimson Tide (1995)

It had action and lots of CGI. That's often enough. Add in Tom Cruise and you have a blockbuster. People often aren't looking for deep stories or characters and just want the boom-booms.Recently watched:

And I thought it was garbage.
How it was so highly rated is beyond me. I know people, are, were, are starving for entertainment and to get back to normal. Might be why it was monetarily successful.
The story was cliche and predictable, shallow characters you've seen dozens of times but without any chemistry, nothing really memorable. Unlike the original which made it a classic, this one is completely forgettable.
They kinda borrowed a bit from Rosemary's Baby theatrical poster, didn't they?
It was.I was reading the reviews of Star Wars-Rise of Skywalker and I was amazed at the predominately bad reviews. I think they tied up the story pretty well but most people seemed to find it weak.
I have the DC, It's brutal in the extreme and a hard watch for many...I somehow never watched this one until last night. It was very short (<90 minutes) and very graphically violent. I had fun watching it.

I suppose, but the film was sufficiently different that I don’t think anyone’s going to be confused. They kinda borrowed a bit from Rosemary's Baby theatrical poster, didn't they?
