Honestly? When they have an event, they always have something special. But this years rumors is nothing special - at all. Big deal iPhone SE!? iPad 9.7" Pro whoppidoo. Wrist bands. I fell asleep at iPhone 5SE. The worlds most valuable tech company have an event for this? Good night - I'd rather sleep.

And if they don't update MacBook-line with skylake soon it is a shame.

The new 4" iPhone is a big deal to some of us. I have not bought an iPhone since the 6 was announced because Apple very suddenly stopped making a phone I wanted to buy, and I think they realised that and fixed it.

Let us have a little of the limelight, yeah? All the fanfare about the phablets can come in September. Just let us have a few minutes in the sun with a new 4" phone.

It's sad to read that there are 'possibilities' to see any updates for the Macbook series.
I have kinda hope to see a major upgrade on the Macbook Air..

It'll be fun to see what they announce, but I feel that Apple needs to release updates more often--are at least as often as they used to. These year and a half update cycles aren't going to work out for them long term. Competitors are getting better and updating quicker.

I'm still really annoyed at the lack of new desktop hardware (Mini and MP). If they're only going to refresh every 2-3 years they could at least cut the pricing a bit so I don't have to pay a premium for 2 year-old technology. Need to buy a couple minis anyway, just waiting 'til Monday on the remote chance Festivus comes early.

Totally agree with you on this one, upgrade the HW or reduce the price.

The design of the iMac and MacBook Pro is getting stale, will it be enough to excite people if all they do is bump the specs with Skylake processors?

I'd kill for a white iMac and Macbook (Air/Pro).

Also, why is everybody so convinced that Loop=Watch band? Will there be new bands? Sure yeah. But I have this gut feeling there is more to it and the loop has a different/additional meaning...

Pretty excited for the 4'' iPhone. Please don't let me down, Apple. And please don't kill the MBA, yet.

Actually it's Monday. the court hearing is Tuesday

Steve Jobs would rise from the grave to kill him.
Not another "Steve Jobs wouldn't let this happen." Look up Steve Jobs fails of all time. He wasn't magical.

Dream list :

  1. iPHONE SE is named iPhone 6S Mini - has 3d touch and same features of 6S series
  2. 6S Mini and all future iphones will have sapphire screen that is 100% shatter resistant . Tim Cook uses a sledge hammer on the 6S mini on stage and drops it on the floor 5 times and NOT A SINGLE SCRATCH, and also WATERPROOF! Shows video of iphone 6S Mini put in washing machine and still working after a full run.
  3. Final version of iOS 9.3 cleans up the OS so it gives people dramatically more space because it doesn't install useless apps , other languages (seriously I don't need iOS languages that I will never use, make the person install those languages as they need to , that could probably save like a gig) and purges old junk files "other data" so it gives more room to all iOS users for free
  4. Apple refreshes Apple TV remote and includes Touch ID so you don't need to input passwords again and makes it bigger so it won't get lost so easily. Costs $19.99
  5. Gives preview of more features 3D touch will do
  6. Updates Apple TV to have optional 4K support, so everyone stops crying
  7. Introduces mac book air with 5 USB C slots, One HDMI, One SDcard port,
  8. New Mac Mini that has Apple TV functions built in, it's the ultimate entertainment device and it is even future proof and has Super Ultra HD Blu-ray disk support
  9. Apple apologizes for making macs that don't let you upgrade after you buy them, so new macs will allow you to update RAM, Memory , easily and quickly
  10. Apple apologizes for being obsessed with thin computers and says new iphone 6S mini and 7 and new macbooks will have 250% greater battery capacity and performance
So basically Apple has spoiled you soooo much with new technology that you have escalated to asking for things that don't make sense or are just not possible physically and/or technology is 2-3 years away. Let's take a breather. Fully aware it's a dream list, but if that's the list to make you happy, add "cure for cancer" at the end. I'm sure Apple can do it, and if they can't, Steve would have not let Apple not create a cure for cancer.

Honestly, who cares about Apple Watch, the lamest fad since parachute pants. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing one. The sooner Apple acknowledges the watch is a failure, the sooner they can focus on their long-neglected Macs.
You not wanting one does not negate the millions of millions of people that love theirs and find them extremely useful. Comparing them to pants or just that analogy is bothersome since one is a fad as in fashion, serves no purpose other than showing something off, while the other has functionality that may matter to people.

Quite frankly, I thought the iPad was a fad and in the big long timeframe picture of things, I might be wrong, but that did not stop Apple form selling hundreds of millions of them with hundreds of millions of happy people using them. I'm guessing you are just bored and unhappy with everything. But that only affects you and not Apple or the rest of us.

I really wish Apple would do this:
  • Two iPad sizes: 7.9" and 9.7"
  • Two iPad Pro sizes: 9.7" and 12.9"
  • Two iPhone sizes: 4" and 4.7"
  • Two iPhone Pro sizes: 4.7" and 5.5"
  • Two MacBook sizes: 12" and 15"
  • Two MacBook Pro sizes: 15" and 17"
  • Two iMac Sizes: 24" and 30"
  • Two "headless" Macs: Mac Mini and Mac Pro

Right on, that would be awesome. Especially a 17" macbook pro. But it was a niche product, selling a few per store a month (per 2-3 store owners I talked to before they were discontinued); I do not see it coming back.

I read every single post in this thread and what's striking is everyone complained about something from pants to a brand new iPhone 7 potentially having sapphire glass and features up the ass being "boring" and "yawn". I'm starting to think Apple's problem is that they set a pace that is simply not possible to keep up with. Maybe they should have half-assed everything like all the other companies. Then at least all your complaints would be warranted.

There +1 to the only person that didn't complain about **** in this entire thread.

Sorry, no. I will probably buy a 64GB SE as soon as they are available for purchase. But this is a decidedly niche market phone. It's like holding a special event to announce the new Mac mini.

Add to that an iPad upgrade which introduces features already introduced on the iPad Pro, and some new watchbands, and you've got a pretty lame event.

I would almost have rather all these updates just have been announced with a press release.

The only thing that will save this event if the rumors turn out to be accurate, is that fact Apple can use this as a soap box to defend its position against the government overreach.

But the product offerings are really disappointing, and undeserving of the stage time.

Are you flying to California and feel like it was a waste of money and an invite they sent you? Maybe your invite was lost in the mail. If they did, go ahead and just not watch the entire event and read the postings on mac rumors. They are just like press releases but much more to the point.

Quit fracturing the product line with stupidly named/rebranded products. Why couldn't this be released at just another size option as part of the iPhone 7 line in September?

iPad Pro? Makes about as much sense as jumping from iPad 4 to iPad Air.

Sales and basically market share. As long as their numbers grow, their stock goes up and more money they make.

I expect...

to be disappointed, sad to say. I wish it were not so, but Apple is killing me with its anaemic products these days. What will stop the rot? That's the million dollar question. I believe the only thing that will is the resignation of Tim Cook. He was such a good COO, but, despite being recommended by Jobs, has been a poor CEO.

There must be so many great people at Apple. They deserve another Steve Jobs to bring out the best in them.

I disagree that it won't be as exciting. I'm still rocking my iPhone 5 because I've been waiting for a new 4" iPhone. Unless Apple releases a new MacBook with SSD and DVD drive, this is THE Apple event of the year for me.
Who still uses a dvd drive ? No way you'll get one in that small of a chassis.

Hey Macrumors, you know what else desperately needs a refresh and what you never talk about?

MAC PRO

It was last updated in 2013. It's now 2016. Think about that. All you do is talk about iDevices and laptops and iMacs, yet you seem to completely ignore the Mac Pro in every single Apple event and hardware update article. Why is that?

MacRumors can't report news and rumours about an updated Mac Pro if there is nothing out there to report. This seems to be the last rumour that was discussed back in November.

Looking forward to seeing how quickly Phil Schiller skims over 16gb storage for the iPhone SE and a $100 bumped price point for the next iPad! No doubt there'll be a few audience groans.
Phil usually runs off the stage before they can form.

I really hope for new designs for the current macbooks. I'm scared macbook air will be killed though. One thing I am hoping for is a revamped MacBook Pro design that is sleek like the 12" MacBook (NOT THIN WITH ONLY ONE PORT AND CRAP KEYBOARD THOUGH) Maybe this is what the four colors on the invitation mean? There's very clearly silver, space gray, gold, and rose gold. I think it's too obvious that these would be the new iPhone SE or iPad Pro 9.7 inch color options. It would be pretty dope if one could get a space gray MacBook Pro/Air (like the 12" MacBook) in my opinion. Would make sense for there to be color options across the whole MacBook line just like the current line of iDevices.

It's said to read that there are 'possibilities' to see any updates for the Macbook series.

Holy crap yeah. It is just disgusting that a MacBook is being sold in 2016 still with a 1440x900 display. Would be sweet if it received the color options seen with the 12" MacBook too! But then I feel the MacBook Air would canabalize the 12" MacBook. It would look just as good, it would have better specs, more ports, better keyboard, etc. Just be a little thicker/heavier.

I'd kill for a white iMac and Macbook (Air/Pro).

I am hoping to see the MBA continue, but I have a sneaking suspicion it will be killed in favor of a simpler MacBook and MacBook Pro line up.

The space gray, silver, gold, and rose gold colors on the invitation seem like it would be for something more major than simply being the colors for new iPad and 4" iPhone, it's simply too obvious. Imagine a totally refreshed MacBook line up, totally new designs, new specs, new colors, even for the MBA and MBPs! It has been far too long since the last MacBook line up, maybe they've been waiting for something big.
