I'm really disliking the Texas Department of Public Safety. I need to get a REAL ID drivers license before 1October, although I do have a Global Entry Card (also expires in March) which I can use for air travel, and their Drivers License Department has scheduled appointments running already into Sept. Of note I could just blow this off and until closer to March when my card actually expires.

I just want to show up in person and wait in the lines, but I can't verify that I can do this, what about masks?, how about social distancing?, Are they even open?, because they won't answer their frick'n phones! Instead their recorded message asked that I email them, which I just did.

What happened to answering the phones? 🤬 I'm seeing this a lot for a wide variety of things and frequently end up talking to someone in India or the Philippines.

Yeah, I can relate on that one, glad I got that REAL ID last year. Waited almost 6 hours at the DMV, being bounced around from line to line.

I hope you can get that sorted soon.

Thinking of sweating in the " home office" as a personal sauna (or bath house). All the toxins of the work day are rolling off my shoulders etc. Nothing like a good detox that requires absolutely no effort (just sit here and sweat. :p) That cold shower is going to be awesome.

Anyway, grateful another work day has ended and that I can work.

Hope everyone is okay.

All good here thank you. And you? Hope the current boss isn't being too much of a Richard!

Yeah, I'm just lying on the couch and I'm sweating like a hog. It's not even that warm outside anymore, as it's already past midnight here, but still inside the apartment it's like in the tropics. The cold shower before bed (my third today) will be awesome.

I like this. And hope so too.

Thinking about picking up the guitar and noodling a little, but then again, sweat. Some dudes are going to come to my apartment in about seven hours to change the filters in the air vents, and as someone who's had a bout of insomnia for the past week that does not interest me in the least.

That's the weird part, it wasn't that much warmer here either. I'm starting to think the walls of my apartment are made of some mysterious material that was designed to absorb and retain heat, and nothing more. I guess they do keep the snow outside in the winter too, so not totally useless, but still...

What floor are you on? Heat rises and all that!

Fifth, out of six total. I used to frequently visit a friend who lived in his cabin years ago, and when there I always slept in the basement. That place never got hot, quite the opposite, even when it was 30 degrees outside. I miss that place.

I moved from a two story house to a one story house in December. I sure don't miss going upstairs to bed (and not just because I'm old!). I could feel the temperature rising in the summer, especially as we don't have AC (or that much need of it) in the UK.

Yep, I have some relatives in the UK and they told me a couple of days ago that the second story of their two story house was getting too hot to sleep in, so I guess you guys have had some nice weather there as well.

I may moan a lot about sweating and just the heat in general, but if there's one thing I learned in the military it's that if given the choice, I will always prefer sweating to freezing, so things could, and soon enough will be worse in that regard.

Yes, now the you mention it, I have been almost too warm in bed - something that is almost unprecedented - these past few nights (and I write as someone with an extraordinary tolerance for heat).

Very unusual.

It can get hot in the upstairs of my old house too, because we didn't gut the bedrooms and put in new insulation during renovations, so whatever is in those walls is the old blown-in stuff that settles anyway. So it can get pretty warm by nightfall, even with windows shut and shades drawn against the sun all day.

The downstairs was gutted and insulation added. That does hold in cool air in summer pretty well.

I leave windows open overnight and in the mountains that usually means 55º or 60º air coming in from 10pm-5am or so. Then I get up and close at least the upstairs windows and draw the shades all around the house as the day progresses to keep the sun out.

On the really hot nights in mid-heat-wave I might stick a box fan in the upstairs hallway around 8pm and exhaust the hot air out of a window up there. Downstairs hot weather is not usually a major problem unless we get one of those times when the wind is almost calm for three or four days.

I admit though that I prefer cool weather: can always put more clothes on!

Looks as though there is another newcomer poster with a different user name who also seems to favor asking questions which may veer on the personal..... There are a couple of similarities, actually. I wonder if there is any connection between these two..... Another data miner? Possibly even the same data miner?

Link deleted, as it doesn't work. Sorry about that!

I was just thinking the same thing.

edited to add: Assuming we may be thinking about the same people, I was looking at the initial posts, the break in between, and the posts now, so not necessarily new but not very active either, at least previously. By the way, that url doesn't display any results.

@Apple fanboy not thinking about the bosses, just waiting for work to come in and starting to think about lunch.

Yes, the “loft” (aka Attic), gets rather warm, it is where my iMac and home office are. I run the ancient Air Conditioner early in the morning before work to cool the roof down. I cannot take direct AC due to it mucking with my sinuses.

It is Wednesday (yay!) and the Blue Jays have been up almost every morning chatting away.❤ They are wonderful.

Also, lots of good movies being delivered this week. :)

Hope everyone is okay and keeping cool.
