Went to a Panera Bread in Indy. The cashier had no idea what Apple Pay was. I tried to explain, but long story short, I swiped my debit card.

You dont have to say anything about ApplePay. All you have to do is say either credit or debit and put your phone near the terminal.

Has anybody tried in-app purchases yet? I used it with the Panera Bread app today. On my way to the bakery I decided to try rapid pickup order via the app while waiting at a red light in the car. Selected my favorite salad in the app, checkout, pay with Apple Pay, Touch ID, all done in 30 seconds. When I arrived at Panera, my order was already waiting for me. Fastest fast food ever. I've seen the future. ;)

Superstores gas station here in Canada ! it was SO EASY and SO FAST to just wave your phone at the pump. I always have had difficulties using my card... now i dont gotta walk all the way in the store and wait in line if my card fails.

Petco - Worked first time.
McDonald's - Didn't work and had to slide card.
Panera - Used :apple: Pay in-app, got a notification from Wells Fargo that it went through.
CVS - Fingerprint couldn't be read. Tried 3 times and then passcode came up that said "Pay with passcode". I like that they added that.

Ha! I did the same thing except I did it 5 minutes before I had to take my lunch at work. The only thing I didn't like, and this has nothing to do with Apple but with Panera, is that they leave your -paid- food a few feet from the entrance on a shelf. Could easily be picked up by anyone feeling cheap. I just went in, saw that it was mine and walked out without anyone saying anything. I'm hoping they fix this as I can see this becoming an issue.

McDonalds

Worked great and quick. Almost didn't see it on my screen because things went so quickly. Placed my thumb on the TouchID and held the phone near the terminal. Phone did the rest !!

I used it at Subway today in North Las Vegas for my first time. It was the clerks first time too and she didn't know what button to press at first on the register to start the NFC reader to work. It didn't help that she didn't speak much english. Once it did it was fast, if you blink you will miss it.

I was at a burger joint today and they had an NFC terminal. When I got near the terminal with my phone, I could see the Apple pay screen and it said pay now with Touch ID. But when I put my thumb on the home button, Siri beeped in. Was the terminal not working, or was I pushing down too hard? There was a line behind me and my husband was in a hurry so he slid his card and I never got a chance to try it again. Does one need to wait til you actually see the credit card on the screen to touch the home button? Perhaps I had my figure down too soon. Anyone else bring up Siri instead of Apple Pay? I'm doing something wrong.

You must of press too hard on the home button. If it was a NFC terminal it would made a "beep" noise when the transaction went through

You only need to rest your finger over the sensor, not push. Pushing and holding will pull up Siri.

And not even that if you are using a credit card vs Debit card

It will prompt you when to use the TouchID function. And it is the same procedure you use to wake the phone up from the LS, just rest your dinger on sensor, you don't depress the home button at all.

With Touch ID you don't press the home button. You simply put your finger (or thumb) on top of the button, just don't apply too much pressure to press the button in.

This happened all the time with other people trying out Touch ID when the 5s came out. Every single person activated Siri haha.

You don't press the button but just place your finger on the touch id.

Used it for the first time yesterday, twice successfully although I tried three times. Tried the first time at a Starbucks at a local hospital and there was no NFC terminal and the clerk was clueless. At Whole Foods they actually had little cards attached to each terminal announcing they were Apple Pay compatible and the cashier knew exactly what I was doing, although I was a little confused because there is no "NFC contact point" or whatever. The symbol for NFC is actually on the POS screen though and you just hold the phone near the screen. I still had to sign afterwards though which was annoying and I thought we didn't have to do that?! At Walgreens the payment was over while the clerk was in the middle of asking me to swipe my card. She looked stunned and I had to explain to her what I just did and what it was her employer was participating in. No signature was required there. It's funny how different businesses and their associated cultures have handled it!

i have been using apple pay a lot over the last few days and i have also made the mistake of either pressing too hard and unlocking the phone or shutting it back off before i could get apple pay to work.

if that happens again just quickly unlock the phone(if its not already) and open passbook it will quickly bring back apple pay. or if you do get in the habit of pressing too hard for too long and bring up siri just ask her to "open passbook" lol

I've used ApplePay at Subway and Chevron. McDonalds that I have been to didn't have it set up for drive-thru yet.

Had an issue at subway, for whatever reason the phone saw the reader and then didn't so they had to restart the transaction. No issue at Chevron, worked immediately, but had to sign a receipt ($12.00), which is kind of a pain. Slows down the process.
