It seems that so far no one really knows the actual date for sure. The continued speculation is certainly fun.

I still think Tiger will be released on 3 or possibly 4 CD's. MAYBE an option for a DVD retail box.

I'm not so sure since iLife 05 is a DVD. There was a CD with it but it missed out Garageband and iDVD (obviously). Since most Macs now have a DVD drive they can read from, I'd think it was more likely to be on a single DVD (making it less likely that people lose part of it as time goes by and confusing those less technically minded) and the multi-CD would be an option for those people without DVD read drives but still with enough power to run Tiger.

Hasn't Appleinsider always contended that it would be April 15th or sometime during NAB?

details on the apple person at FOSE:

http://www.fose.com/index.cfm?fusea...ibitor&popup=yes&NoLayout=Yes&ExhibitorID=217

basically it's not steve jobs there, so i highly doubt it'd be released any time during FOSE. the catagories she's covering is computers, enterprise systems, security/information assurance, and storage devices.

and for those that keep looking at apple's site, you don't need to look for hours on end:

Exposition: April 5-7, 2005, Times: 10:00am - 4:00pm

Registration: April 5-7, 2005, Times: 7:00am - 4:00pm

Keynote Sessions: April 5-7, 2005, Times: 9:00am & 1:00pm daily

a tiger release would probably be around one of those keynote sessions.

I doubt Apple would choose to launch Tiger at some obscure tradeshow in Washington. NAB possibly, but I doubt even that. April 15th seems popular but if it still hasn't been announced yet, then well...

Has Tiger definitely definitely surely gone GM? There's always the possibility they're making it perfect before release, or am I mental?

How reliable is eWEEK.com?

Ugh. This is the second time in a row that MacRumors has referenced that eWeek story and the second time in a row that I've been too busy to check this site for a couple days. So once again my comment is buried 50 pages deep in the dicussion. Bleh.

The eWeek story in question is NOT confirmation! Period. It's just repeating what ThinkSecret said. Nothing more. Have a look at http://apple.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=142245&cid=11920243. That's Matthew Rothenberg, eWeek's executive editor in charge of Mac stuff. He clearly states that he's printing ThinkSecret's rumor based on their reputation alone. He has no new info!

I even submitted this to MacRumors so they could correct their earlier post, but obviously they ignored it. So much for caring about getting the rumors right! Seems like this site is going downhill in the quality of stuff it posts. How many obviously false rumors have we seen on the front page lately? If I wanted that, I'd go to one of the many other rumor sites that don't try to filter their stories.

I want Tiger as much as the next person here, but this rumor had no validity to it from day one! I stand by my prediction of July 2nd at noon.

Thanks for letting me vent! :D

They might have gone GM but then again only Apple knows for sure. I still suspect that NAB is the most likely candidate for a release. I suspect we will see updates to Apple's professional software titles at NAB that will likely require Tiger for some of their new feature sets. What better way to steal a show?

i'm happy that it isn't out yet because i won't be getting it until school is over. I don't want to mess with my computer until i'm done because if something should go wrong i'm screwed. And if it is released earlier i would be tempted to get it.
When i'm done with school, and if its out, i'm running to the store and getting rid of this "old and horrible OS" ;)

:(

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Where are you tiger  We're waiting :(

yeah....I bet those guys at Apple are p*****g themselves laughing reading all these rumours and our reaction to them.

I know this is not directly related to Tiger but... I am thinking of getting a 12" PB and suddenly the build time has gone upto 6 days, this morning it was 24hours! They cant have realised that they have suddenly run out. I know that apple do ths when there is a slight upgrade in the line but it only effects the 12" and they where upgraded in feb. The only thing I can think is maybe a better graphics card and possibly a back lit keyboard. It cant be anything too major, anyone heard anything.

Estimated Ship times change all the time. I went through this a few weeks ago. My parents ordered a Mini and the ship date was about a week out and then they delayed to late March, and I thought ok, they're delaying it so they can ship it with Tiger, and they'll wait until the ship estimate gets close and then bump it back again. But nope they sent it by the revised ship date. A hardware upgrade or Tiger are probably not the things holding it back, especially if its BTO.

Developer Contest

I know the developers contest that started yesterday includes individuals that can develope a good product for "Tiger" are allowed to use seed 8A420 and above or the official release.

notice how quiet think secret is now hehehehehehhe >_>
Probably because they don't know crap anymore. All the info they gave was probably disinformation from Apple.
