Apple store is down "back within the hour" - who wants to put money on this not being for the reasons we are all hoping?

Interestingly, it's been more than an hour and they're still down. Liars!
Seems to be just the European stores. Japan/Canada/US still up with nothing new.

UK Site Down

Im getting the post-it note in the UK Store at the moment. This might be because it is an "unsociable hours" here in the UK???? What could Apple be doing? Is this routine maintainance or something bigger?

Giving up with the forums

Is anyone giving up on hope that Tiger will be out soon. Ever since monday I have been at the forums as soon as I'm home from school, then homework, then back to forums and sites to check for an announcement. I'm getting sick of it, and I know I desperately wanting a Powerbook, but I'm not doing it until tiger comes out. It seems like every day tiger seems worse and worse because of this wait, if it came out, or was announced in a day or two, it'd be like, "AWESOME, I AM BUYNG MY POWERBOOK NOW!!!" but the longer the wait is, it seems like it will get more boring and plain because we arent going to be exactly very suprised about it. STEVE-SET THE TIGER FREE.

Buy your powerbook, it isn't worth an ulcer!!

I was waiting also, but the need grew to buy a new computer (G5 PM in my case). This is an OS change with lots of new toys (I am super excited about it too), but not as BIG as OSX was comapred to OS9. I don't understand the people that NEED new computers, working themselves up in such a big lather over this.

Buy and enjoy your powerbook, then have something else to look forward too

Thank you. ;) I, too, can't wait for Tiger to be released, but I have now taken a healthy approach: I have decided to refuse to get my hopes up *until* it's officially released. So many people on Mac forums, mainly out of enthusiasm, are acting like they're going to die if they can't get their hands on Tiger immediately. I'm as much of a Mac fan and OS X fan as anyone, but I'm not going insane waiting. People need to relax... before the month is over, we'll have it. That seems clear. So everyone just cool down and wait until we get "the countdown" on Apple.com to start pulling your hair out again.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, as I do not wish to read 17 pages...

Maybe Apple is waiting for their iLife application updates to be ready before they let Tiger out. If I recall correctly, at the very least iPhoto is going to need an update. Steve's copy had a bit different of an interface in Tiger when he demoed it in January. Guess we shall see.

My guess is that they are not going to announce it unless it can be in stores the next day. Something I remembered about the iTunes phone rumor was that the Motorola rep said apple wanted to hold the announcement till the phones were ready to ship. Maybe they are doing the same thing with tiger. They could be off duplicating now, and the announcement will come after the retail stores have their first shipments.

But anyways, my guess is the 15th...

Should I wait or should I go

Am about to buy an iMac 17" G5. Am hanging on waiting for the apparent update to iMac AND the release of Tiger. Am about to burst!

My eMac goes to its new owner tonight. Using my iBook in the meantime.

The delay is probably caused by Tiger Server which hasn't been finished yet. I guess Apple wants to release client and server versions simultaneously.

OK eMac is sold! Now for the wait.

Apple is already working on 10.4.1 (client). It's possible the first Tiger update will be released on the same day the OS is officially available or soon after. So I guess it's safe if you order your iMac when Tiger is announced.

This is not the week for Tiger - it is the week that the world is focused on the death of the Pope, just as last Friday they were focused on his critical condition.

Just because the announcement date was delayed don't assume that the factories are not going full speed getting Tiger ready to ship. Inventories are building up and the first day you can buy it won't change.

That sounds like good news to me. Should take away any fear of adopting Tiger on the release date. Maybe we will have 10.4.2 in May.

Next Month :-(

Well, I went to my local Applecentre the other day to get a copy of iWork. I asked to pre-order Tiger so that I was sure of getting a copy. At first, the salesman said 'sure - i'll get your details - Tiger is comming out in the next 2 weeks' He then went out into the back of the store - I presumed he was bringing some paperwork for me to fill out.

To my surprise, when he returned, he didn't have any paperwork but said that 'Tiger will be released next month some time'. I then asked if I could pre-order but he assured me that there will be plenty of copies.

So, there you have it. I don't know how accurate this is but I am just telling you what I heard from the salesman.

Actually silence is golden. Patience is simply a virtue, which I do not possess.

With Apple patience is almost a required quality. Without patience it just makes us long suffering Mac fans.

According to aussie_geek employees selling Apple products don't know any more than we are aware. First commenting will sell in two weeks and then changing it to next month.

New Clue?

I was surfing the Appleinsider forums today and one of the UK members reported that the London Apple Store has applied for an entertainment license to go into effect on the 15th of April. Have we not heard of staff meetings on the 16th or 17th or something like that?

Put together it can be speculated that the "Night of the Tiger" will be the 15th, with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger being sold at midnight the 16th, and staff doubling on the 16th and 17th?
