Something like that. You may need to pay shipping for it.

It is 7:18 AM here on the Pacific. If Apple doesn't announce Tiger in 42 minutes, we have to wait until the 15th.

42 minutes.... :D

The game is already over. We're not getting it today. Sorry

if you've noticed, the apple store site has been slightly updated. Adobe CS 2 has been added as well as the banner uptop now displays the ipod mini and a new ilife 05 photo.

it"s 7:27 Pacific Coast Time

Now it's down to 28 mins :D

And synaesthesia, I'm with you on that. Don't think it's silly at all. It's only silly if we need a computer desperately and we have no other computer to use and we wait ourselves silly for Tiger.. :p

I don't think it's "plain silly" either.

Thanks for the support guys!

I never said i wanted it pre-loaded i just want to make sure that i get it thrown in the box and not have to pay an extra $100AUD just coz i ordered it a day or too early.

How can that be silly?

If anything, making asumptions and calling something silly and as a result making oneself sound foolish, IS silly.

A little harsh maybe but i'm tired - its almost 1am here.

Could mean Tiger is coming...?

No it's not. Check your connection to .mac with traceroute and see if you have a nework outage somewhere on the way :p

Could be...

Panther can only sync bookmarks, addresses and calendar.
Tiger can sync a whole lot of stuff, so maybe that would require a .Mac update right before release?

LOL. This is hilarious.

"Breaking News coming in to CNN. Apple has just announced that they are going to release Tiger on April 15. Once again, Apple announcing Tiger will be at stores on April 15. For more analysis, let's turn to our Apple expert..."

You're dreaming.

Tiger won't even be mentioned by the "world media". There will be a little paragraph in the back of the business section of papers on the day it is released.

If they did postpone it from Friday, it was because of respect...not because of the media exposure.

You crack me up.

Au contraire:

It will be very well covered in the financial pages of most newspapers and other media used by investers.

To people/organizations investing big bucks (hundreds of thousands of dollars) this is very big news, indeed!

.Mac Down

Anyone else have problems with .Mac right now? I haven't be able to access in the last hour. I just logged into Apple's .Mac support discussion forum and there are other people there who cannot connect.

Anyone?

Agreed. Language is one of our most important tools and should be applied, like any other tool, with precision.

Mind you, your poster may have known exactly what he was trying to say!

:D

If Panther can only sync bookmarks, addresses and calendar the new intro at the top of .Mac shows a sync with the Ipod and one other that was hard to read.Is this a Tiger intro ?

That's a good point. It seems that have to make changes to .Mac which probably requires a service interruption. However, if that's going on only now, that means Tiger has not yet gone to duplication facilities as Apple might want to test full functionality under real life conditions.

I wonder if the delay of 10.3.9 could have some connection to what seems to be a delay to Tiger.

No that is Panther. The only data is can do is addresses, bookmarks, calendar, but it can save it on many many devices... iPod, cell-phone...

Edit: it was a good idea to look though :)

Pacific Daylight Time

It's 8:09AM right now :)

Thanks for that, i appreciate it! :) I get confused with non-local timezones.
If its only 8am, there is still a whole day in which they could release it. (even though its already wednesday here  )

I'm keeping optimistic!

No argument here when it comes to G3s. They shouldn't be supported.

But they are.

-_- Come on dude.. G3s are perfectly capable of running Tiger...just they can't use CoreImage etc... Don't diss the mighty G3!!! (at least I know my G3/600 iBook can run it since I had the WWDC build running and it ran fine).

lol

yeah word up for the G3. A mate of mine's got a G3 iBook as well and every time i've used it i've been impressed with its performance. I see no reason for tiger not being able to run on one (of course with the usual exceptions - core image etc...)

But they are.

Here's an example of how Tiger support of G3s will be useful to my family.

I have grandkids, ages 5, 6, and 8. We have 2 iMac G3s that they could use for games, homework etc.

The 8-year old is a girl who does email among members of an online doll club. All of them get some games and study info from the web.

With Panther, their parents need to monitor their computer access to the Internet.

The "Parental Controls" feature of Tiger makes it practical to let them use the computers without supervision.

Another use:

A G3 makes makes a pretty good, low activity, home server. Say you want to put up photos, movies, playlists, etc. for access by family & friends.

You can do this with Jaguar or Panther... but Tiger is faster, more secure and offers other features that are useful for a home server.

For instance, using Spotlight you can easily program a metadata/content search for the home web site.

I would prefer to do this with Tiger & the latest iApps rather than earlier OS X releases or YDL.

yes it does! :D

i'm giving it till then (2am here) and then i'm off to bed if nothing happens (i just hope they decide to do an afternoon announcement so i can wake up to the news).

i'm just glad i'm on school holidays atm - the late nights waiting up are killing me - so at least i can sleep in a bit. :)
