The resale value is secondary for me, I just don't like marks or scratches on my iPhone or iPad.

Apple make beautiful devices, I like to keep them the way they came out the box. I use a case when I take my devices outside but at home I'll take them out the case. I don't feel the need to show off my devices in public, so having them in a case is fine. I bought my devices for me to enjoy, not others. When I want to enjoy the design and feel of the device "naked" I do so at home where it's far safer and less prone to trips and falls.

I just like to keep my things in good condition, that's it.

There is that too. Personally I don't like getting scratches and dents on my devices. A case goes towards helping that doesn't happen.

The title of this thread make me sick! Haha I've had a case on all my iPhone's.

Everyday I'll keep the case on, sometimes I'll take it off as log as I know if drop it won't shatter.

Other then that case on!

I am right now but will probably grab a case. My coworker dropped his and chipped the corner out of the screen already and it kind of spooked me a bit.

I am very careful with my iPhone but use a bumper case anyway. I prefer minimalist protection.

I have my iPhone semi-naked. I'm using a TwelveSouth SurfacePad, which is a flip cover. It leaves one whole edge exposed (which got damaged and scratched/chipped when I dropped the phone in the parking lot 🙁 ), thinly covers the back, and covers the screen when closed (I also have a gel protector on it).

Just took a look at that (thanks for providing the link). It looks very cool. My only apprehension would be using an adhesive on the back of my iPhone. I assumed there is some sort of adhesive because I didn't see any other way it could be attached.

I have a very slim case on mine to enhance the grip. I love the way it feels naked, but it's an expensive device that I don't want to scratch or damage. I rock it naked around the house only, but cover her up once we get out.

Oh, so you wrap it up when you got out? Sorry but I just couldn't resist. LOL

I agree, people use the "well I have Applecare so I dont need a case, I'll just use my Applecare replacement." Meanwhile, I'm over here keeping my phone mint in a case, not paying for Applecare and not paying for a replacement, and still selling my phone for a profit in mint condition after a year.

A case/no case is something that really varies to the individual. Sure it may cover this beautiful design, but it's a phone, not an exotic sports car. Have you heard a naked iPhone drop and smack the ground (that horrific sound)? And then seeing the owner pick it up to realize it's toast.... no thank you.

I always get AppleCare but it's never been the determining factor in decided whether or not to get a case or other protection. I didn't think AppleCare covered damage due to your own carelessness. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.

bought last October

didn't drop it or anything key related. just happened over time from placing it on hard surfaces like desks I guess

don't really care tho it's just a phone that gets replaced by its next generation 2 years later

Ouch! I have a bumper on my phone and it seems to help with the surface scratches (I have none) such as what I see on your photo.

Got Applecare+ for my iP6+ but have the black leather apple case when I go out but sometimes I go caseless. Not too worried since I have applecare 🙂 the phone is too beautiful to be in a case, rocking it in its birthday suit LOL.

I have AppleCare Plus too. I didn't know it covered damage, such as dropping your phone, due to one's own carelessness.

AppleCare Plus does cover two incidents of accidental damage although there is a small deductible.

So all in all, my phones back will get scratched up if I decide to go naked and keep it on surfaces? Not really concerned about shattering screen and stuff as I've had a good history with not dropping my phone. Resale value is not a big thing for me as I normally end up giving my phone away. My major concern is scratches, as that's something I can't live without or scuffs. It's a phone so I will take care of it, but I'd just like to know how easily the i6 gets scratched up and I was hoping for some naked users to come in and give a review.

Thanks

Oh, okay then I suppose dropping your phone could be considered accidental damage. I wouldn't depend on that (AppleCare) but I can see why some people wouldn't be that concerned about having a case and using AppleCare as their safety net. Personally, I'd rather shell out the funds for a case/bumper/sleeve than pay for the deductible and deal with the inconvenience related to AppleCare for a damaged phone.

Well most cases won't prevent any damage at all and you may still get damage with a case on especially if you drop the phone from a height on to a hard surface. It's still worth having AppleCare Plus.

Off Topic:Out of interest I noticed your avatar is the BB-8 from the new Star Wars movie. I just ordered the miniature robot version today that's controlled by an iOS/Android app and look forward to playing with it. 🙂

I would probably buy a really thin case. The apple leather case is still too thick and bulky for me. I'd love to use it naked but the thing is quite slippery.

I agree with what you said about damage. I always opt for Apple Care, and now Apple Care Plus but not for protection against accidental damage.

Oh, that (robot) sounds very cool! Where did you order it from? I'd like to have one too!

Bought a case for mine out of the gates but debating just buying AppleCare and rocking it naked. Feels great in the hand. Who's going naked this time around?
no way! there are some nice sleek cases that look awesome and feel just as good

I don't like bulky cases and I have hated every clear plastic case I have owned, except for one, The Moshi iGlaze XT. I love this case so much I purchased two of them, because it looks like every time I purchase a case I like, they stop making it. I really recommend this case.

the original Apple cases are pretty good. They are somewhat expensive though. You can buy a quality copy of such case on eBay.

Is that thing hard to remove (like if grit gets between the case and the phone)? Looks tricky in the instruction diagram....

Also, is it any less slippery than the bare phone itself(?)

it's not hard to remove at all. It's not slippery, it gives some grip to the phone. I really hope I can continue using this case on my iPhone 6s 🙂

I had the black leather apple case, I liked it, but after a while it started to look old. That's the only thing I didn't like about this case.

But it is the exotic sports car of phones. It's just that everyone has one because it was subsidized.

Do they compare better to the Apple leather case that were available for the 5s? I bought a light coloured one, beige i think, and it looked awful within weeks. Am not talking cool and lived in but just downright dirty!

Yes, it looks terrible especially if you use it outside in a dusty environment (California). I've gone through 2 black leather cases and they both looked terrible within a few months. My mom's red leather case looks even worse. One thing to note, if you drop the phone it tears the leather apart - even if just a slight drop (less than 2 ft). I can't recommend the case for these two reasons. My second black leather case smelled like skunk whenever it got hot (sunlight). I've been using a white silicon case (Apple) with my 6+ for a few months now and really like it.

I wish I could use this thing naked but .... it's just too slippery (6+). People with the 6 that I know use their phone naked because of the size I think. 6+ is just too slippery. I handed my 6+ (caseless) to someone with a nekkid 6 and they agreed that it is just too big to use naked.
