This statement - and its appreciation in this forum - is the one thing I don't like about the mac world...being associated with the selfish, elitist attitude.
I sort of agree. It's only $100 difference(at least in the U.S.); some people need to get over themselves. It's not like by shelling out an extra 100 bucks you're so much better than someone else with a white one. Also, a black macbook shouldn't appear to be more powerful, because whichever I get, it's going to have the exact same specs as the other color I would have chose. However, I have been going back and forth in my head between black and white, so I do have some things to say about both that's more than just 'black is better because it costs more and white is cheaper'.
Personally, I'm scared to get a black MB, because, while my fingers are never greasy, I know my friend's, especially my boyfriend's, always are. I was playing around with a black macbook in the store after eating french fries (it was kind of an accident, I forgot.) and I didn't leave any grease stains at all, but my boyfriend touches my car window and there's this huge grease stain noticable from like five feet away (I have tinted windows). However, black macbooks are very attractive in their own right.
But I'm also afraid that I will start to see the white as cheaper looking plastic. When I look at old plastic white iMacs compared to the new aluminum ones, the white ones look incredibly cheap it's almost sad. However, the upside to whites, even though many complain about this, is how it takes longer to become dirty. From what I've heard, after awhile white macbooks sort of get stains on them, but I've also heard this is curable with a magic eraser. While it may take a white MB a couple weeks to become noticably dirty, the black macbook starts to get fingerprints again the same day.
In the end, I'm still not sure which one I want. I wanted to compare them in person, but there isn't an apple store around here, and Best Buy only has the black one, which I think is stunning until I see the grease fingerprints. I may just go with that one and demand everyone was their hands twice before touching.
😉 When I look at pictures online when comparing the two, the white one looks more incredible, and as many say, more 'Apple.'
I still don't know, and I know none of you can make me decide.
😉 But please, can we at least stop being so computer racist? It's kind of childish.
