Yea I don't agree with this at all. Who cares if it looks the same? That makes zero impact on why I like to upgrade my phone every year. And as another member already posted, we know there is a new/better iphone coming out every year, I am not going to just keep holding out forever until something better comes along. Plus, I am looking forward to the new camera enhancements, potential upgraded screens, audio improvements, and new home button. I am sure there are a couple little surprises that we don't know about as well on the hardware side. Should be a nice upgrade, even from my 6s.

It does make a difference.Especially when the following are the upgrade features

iPhone 7

No headphone jack
No antenna bands
Dual camera

iPhone 8

Glass body
Removal of homebutton
OLED Curved EDGE TO EDGE Screen
Iris scanner
Wireless charger

And some more I cant remember. Now which will you buy?

iPhones cost to darn much. My iPhone 6s is working just fine, it does what I want. Paid for in full, so why get another one unless there's some really nice upgrades. That won't be until 2017 ;)

OK. Because I'm still rocking a 5.

Your turn.
Not what was being discussed, as you claimed you had jumped in from the middle but...

Ming-Chi Kuo's accuracy is always spot on.Count on the iPhone 8 to have all of those and then some
It's speculation until announced. Until then you and everybody else don't know anything about the internals. Antenna lines are not features. Please stop with that. The guy didn't predict the a9 is a beast and still trounces the competition.

I'll be buying both actually, but I'll start with the one that comes out in a month and isn't purely speculative at this point.

Lets be honest here, if you can upgrade your phone every year and thats what you want to do, that is awesome and anybody saying they are waiting for 2017, sweet, more power to you, but there is no point in hating on people doing what they feel like because it makes it sound like you just can't afford the upgrade

Exactly. I upgrade every release because I look forward to the upgrades that happen regardless if anyone else finds them 'significant' or not. I don't like android, personal preference, so I don't care what they are doing with their phones. I'm not brainwashed by Apple as some suggest. I simply know what I prefer, and I'm blessed to get things I want when I want.

I'll buy the first this year and the second next year.

New color(s)! That the motivating factor for the iPhone 7 4.7" along with getting improve features from the past year's iPhone 6S+. The + will get state of art improvements to it along with new colors! That the Apple i game plan.

Apple products are consider luxury items so they don't have to be state of the art in everything, they just have to be appealing to people!

The easy answer to the thread question is timing. Those who upgraded to the iPhone 6 will be due an upgrade this month.

Apple have completely missed a trick by putting the iPhone 8 on the 'S' cycle because it will either force people to keep their phone for an extra year, or forfeit the phone completely and upgrade this year. This is the cycle that usually creates the buzz and I can't understand for the life of me why they are not releasing the bigger upgrade this year?

A number of reasons why they didn't...I still think many will upgrade even if the total number will be less than previous years.

I'm more bothered by the dropping of the 3.5" jack than anything else.

You'll still get plenty upgrading but it's screwed up a lot of people's upgrade cycle. The iPhone 7 looks pretty underwhelming if the rumours are to be believed. I'll either keep my iPhone 6 until it breaks or get the SE.

None of the iPhones ever feel sufficient or complete.

Then buy a Note 7 with 12 processors and be happy oh wait.....

Ew don't recommend Samsung products.

They keep thinking iPhone owners are willing to give Samsung phones the time of day, but they're just not... it's too run-of-the-mill.

That's one thing about Apple; none of their products are ever run-of-the-mill.

So what you're telling me is the iPhone 8 (or Anniversary Edition as I like to call it) is basically going to be a rehash of the Note 7...
