Why would anyone buy a iPhone 7 (aka 6SII) when we know about iPhone 8?

It's obvious there needs to be another discussion, when you believe companies sole motivations for their actions are the bottom line. Think outside the box here.

Yes, despite selling millions, YOY unit sales have fallen. I can grab you some links if you don't want to bother researching yourself. It's funny actually how throughout the threads you hinge so much on record profits and yet claim Apple isn't about profit margin first lol. Listen I get it, your track record proves that Apple can do no wrong in your eyes. I've watched you defend everything from a 760p screen on a 2015 phone on up. You can keep spinning things all you want and that is fine. Clearly you enjoy the koolaid you've been given and that's ok.

im not sure you really do get it. In the interests of being "objective" I've seen more bias here and this post is just another another one of them. Sure grab some links about yoy sales and make sure you include revenue and profits also. Also If I'm drinking the kool-aid you must be drinking the sour grapefruit juice. And you're right about the spin but it's not exclusive around here; there's enough for a spin class.
At the end of the day the question is, is Apple giving its customers what the want? With 1 billion devices not everybody will be pleased or like apples direction. Thank goodness for competition, right?

I think I am starting to get Timmy's plan.He is purposely making the device underwhelming so that sales reach rock bottom and everyone stays on their current iPhone (I mean who would upgrade for "audio" innovation and a faster phone) and then give a massive upgrade to the iPhone so that sales rocket Past previous highs so as to make it appear sales have recovered.Tim would get a bad name if the 10th anniversary iPhone couldn't buck the trend
By your metrics,Samsung is more responsive to customers than Apple.They adopted OLED faster than Apple.They adopted waterproofing faster than Apple

I have done nothing but make a solid case this entire time and all you do is dance around it. All of this began with YOU making the following statement "Apple is not about the profit margin first" which is so dead wrong that it is laughable. Numerous people have made solid cases as to this being false and you just continue to dance. Your natural reaction keeps going back to profits, and that Apple must be doing something right because they are making money hand over fist. Well no kidding!! Because they are all about profit margin. You have done nothing but contradict your original claim that began this all.
You really think Apple is all about the customers wants and profit margin second like you originally stated? You understand how profit works right? You realize that Apple could sell 10 million less units (a potential sign that customers are waking up and the fact that Apple is losing sales to competitors) and still make more profit than before simply because they found ways to make phones even cheaper while keeping the customer cost the same? So Apple is all about customer needs first you say? How about memory? Do you think it is popular with customers that the base phone is 16GB with no expandable memory? Less than 12GB which is useable? Yet, if a customer needs to go to the 64GB phone, it will cost them $100 more EVEN THOUGH it cost Apple between $5-$8 for that chip? 128GB? Now the customer pays $200 more for $12 in chip cost to Apple. Yeah you're right, Apple is not about profit margin first at all. They'll keep striving to make a phone as thin as a post-it note when the number one request of customers is better battery life. Yep, Apple is all about what the customer wants first.
There is my solid case, one of many I and others have made. You can keep your head in the sand all you want and that is fine. But I am not sure how much clearer this point can be made...

They are declining for the first time since Steve turned his company around and since Tim Took over and Tim so far has failed to buck the dropping sales of the iPad.No hints as to whether the iPhone will suffer the same fate
The users on MR are the customers.And that is why the sales are dropping because we don't find the new iPhones compelling enough.In addition the "geeks" on this forum influence the casual users.

Lol, profits seemingly down from TC 10 recording breaking quarters, but higher than any SJ quarter. Seems like Apple is in good hands with TC.

What solid case have you made? Citing sources that say Apple chips can be made for .35 and they charge $650 for the phone. Maybe you forgot the support, system updates, research and development etc. but Apple is allowed to charge what they want, there are no rules to say what to charge especially if your customers buy your products at your price.
Apple still puts customers first even if you have convinced yourself otherwise. I didn't say Apple was about customer wants...you said that.
That example thinner phones vs battery life; I would rather have a thinner phone than more battery. You want something different; email tim cook. You cannot know across tens of millions of customers how many people want thinner phones vs lore battery and you sure as shooting aren't going to get an answer here.
So if something is not in your favor, it is a conspiracy theory? Nice attempt to spin on the .35 and $650 price tag. Now, how about we refocus that they charge an extra $100 for a $5 chip. That is putting the customers first over profit margin as you say? So Apple is about putting customers first, but not about customer's wants? Dance, dance, dance away buddy.
Do you read anything outside of MR by chance? Do you follow iphone 6, 6S and 6S Plus trends on twitter? Do you read other forums? Do you talk to people in real life? Do you read blog sites, tech sites, comment sections? Lol you might be the first person I have ever heard say they prefer thinner over battery life. And knowing your history here, I would almost bet that in actuality you'd much rather have more battery over thinness but for the sake of trying and failing to prove a point, you say otherwise. I am done here. You cannot even keep up with the points being made. You have done nothing but contradict your original statements and cannot even realize it.
PS, even the Galaxy S5 was rated IP67 for water and dust resistance. iFixit found that the 6S series had additional sealants inside. The Galaxy S4 Active....remember that phone? Tell me, which phone(s) came first?

Me - S4 Active (2013) was water resistant. S5 (2014) was IP67 resistant. ifixit finds resistance in 6S (2015)

I asked for proof where you said Apple was the first at waterproofing compared to Samsung.It wasnt.The S4 active was the first waterproof phone which came out waay before the 6S which isnt IP67 rated to beging with.Your logic regarding removal of the feature effectively "Resetting" that feature into status quo is pretty convuluted.Do you know who came up with widgets on the left of the lockscreen?It was Android.They later removed it.That does NOT make iOS first to implement the feature.
The Xperia X lacks a fingerprint sensor as they removed it.Are we to claim that Sony never had a fingerprint sensor before?The Atrix had the first fingerprint sensor ever before it was removed?So suddenly they never invented it?
Samsung removed the feature and they reintroduced it because what they did was a misstep copying Apple.The customer base of Samsung typically hates what Apple does in its products and the customer responded and they reverted and now record profitSame with Apple.I can almost guarantee even slumping profits till the 2018 iPhone when Apple pulls out all the stops finally leading to a record breaking quarter after they correct their misstep with the 2017 Iphone because its just an incremental upgrade
I will tell you my opinion on the removal of features in the Android WOrld.I call it listening to what customers ACTUALLY want and then removing what they dont want.If the company does this wrong,its all over.

Apple will pretty much have a blockbuster quarter coming up, don't fret about it.
My two year contract is up this year and if the next iPhone design isn't changing then I might skip this generation or look at another make of phone.
I am not going to sign up to another phone which looks and feels the same as the one I have been using for another two years.
