Still having issues after fresh install. Thought I would try it, I also tried to inout a manual IP address and it still drops out whenever I'm away from my router, even if I have full signal.

My iPad was affected by the previous wifi issues. Back then it would just drop the connection and say I'm no longer connected to the internet. All I had to do was hit the sleep button then slide to unlock and it would be connected again. All of that was corrected in 3.2.2, or whatever the last version was.

This bug/issue with 4.2 is totally different. I still get the "not connected to the internet" message but I cant get it back easily. I have to totally power cycle or completely reset myt network settings. And sometimes, that doesn't even work. It just randomly comes back on.

I REALLY hope Apple knows about this and is fixing it. I'd hate to have it be released with this issue, I'd have to go back to the previous version.

Can anyone confirm is the developer forum is reporting this issue? I'm sure apple monitors that one and actually listens to them.

Well I will have 4.2GM in about 3 minutes on my iPad and will let you know. If it works fine with 802.11n then I'm good to go :)

Wait, do only those with a 3G iPad have issues?

This seems a good question. I have wifi and no problems.

What options would be good for a new poll on this issue?

64GB WiFi iPad. Restored from backup of Beta 3, using old Airport Express. Thought I figured out the problem but it's still occurring.

Well.. I know 4.2 is a GM, but in a moment of clarity I thought hell, Apple doesn't want me on this yet. I'm not a developer (though I was helping a dev with an app so my UDID is legit with Apple) so I've gone back to 3.2.2
If the problem occurs with the public release of 4.2 then I'll address it then, but for now I can't handle being connected for no more than a few minutes at a time, so it's back to 3.2.2 for me, and working wi-fi.
And my beloved orientation lock..

Anyway, this is not the only forum or blog where users are discussing about this WiFi issue, so it's widely known.

When 4.2 is released via iTunes can I wait a few weeks to update or will I be forced to update in order to use iTunes and the App Store? I want to see what happens with the wifi issue before I upgrade. 4.2 has some nice features but they would be useless without wifi.

Nope, I have a 16GB wifi iPad and it was pretty bad for me. I reset network settings about 6 times with no luck, it wouldn't stay connected for more than ~20 seconds. I tried switching my router (Linksys WRT54G) to broadcast g only (was broadcasting b/g mixed) and it worked great for about 15 minutes then crapped out again. Needless to say I just restored back to 3.2.2 until this gets straightened out.

Okay been using iPad for the last 7 hours. 16gb wifi only model connected to linksys e3000 on dual band n and no wifi issues here.

Were you close to the router? Because it seems that the issue appears when you're meters away from the router.

Just tried the option with static ip. Didn't work for me.

Also, I don't have MobileMe bookmark syncing, so that doesn't seem to be a solution either...

+1 for problems with 4.2 GM. Hopefully had beta 3 on a timemachine backup, restored it, no problem so far.

8 hours testing back on 3.2.2 with nothing different but an OS downgrade. Hate to say it, but connection is 100% perfect in all rooms. There has to be some bug in that GM in a certain environment.

Wireless Security Settings?

Just for curiosity what, if any, security settings do you have set-up for your wireless routers??

I just dropped my security for my wireless router and so far seems ok..... Thought I would try for a few hours and see if my wifi stays good.

Just a follow-up. I dropped all security on the wireless router connection has been perfect...no problems. I did notice an issue using safari, the progress bar doesn't finish loading. It shades some of the way. I think the page loads???. The progress bar does not indicate that it has. It almost seems as the connection stalled but the page looks like it loads completely.
Also, I noticed that this happens with every facebook page I click on.

I compared performance against icab, which loaded all pages fine with no problems. It seems icab was much faster then safari???
I had no connection problems far away or close to the access point location.

So to sum up.... Problem may be related to wireless router/ipad security settings?
May have something to do with safari????

This issue is very similar to the wi-fi complaints when the ipad was just released.... I think Apple released a fix??? Not sure I just purchased my ipad 2 weeks ago.

No not at all. I was in my living room which is the farthest place away from where my router is placed.

No problems here. I am not using any security except MAC access control. Signal is stable at 4.2 GM (actually much more stable than on 3.2.2).

I tried upping my modems signal strength, hasn't helped. I'll try turning off the security although I can't leave it like that, I live in the middle of town :p
